Thanks for everyone that supported the Jamaican captain, and voted. I was wondering if the FA would let him donate his prizes to the JFF. RICARDO GARDNER has become the first Barclays Premiership player to be voted 'Player of the Round' and join this season's Team of The FA Cup.
The Jamaican full-back was one of five players nominated for the award after The FA Cup Fourth Round and polled 37 per cent of the 15,000 votes cast by fans on TheFA.com. He was short-listed for the award after his dogged performance helped to send the holders Arsenal crashing out 1-0 and set up a Fifth Round home tie against West Ham. With determined defending he was part of a solid Wanderers rearguard action that shut out Arsenal's brilliant attackers. He then supplied the looping cross for Stelios to head home the winning goal. In addition to being crowned FA Cup Player of the Round, Ricardo's inclusion in The Team of The FA Cup guarantees his VIP attendance at The FA Cup final in May and a half-time introduction to the crowd. In addition to winning the Player of the Round award, Ricardo has also won £1000 worth of UMBRO football kit for a local school, club or organisation of his choice. The Team of The FA Cup comprises Player of the Round winners from the First Qualifying Round to the Semi Final. [This message has been edited by Lyod (edited 02-06-2006).]

BIG UP GARDNER. He continues to prove that he is the most valuable professional we have produced to date. Thanks to Rene Simoes that realized his potential and replaced Messam with him and also introduced him to Big Sam.

It was all arranged by Simoes if I remember correctly. Simoes is not qualified to act as an agent but it was his push that gave Bibi the edge.

Bibi is a great footballer. Respect due. Still, he is not the best we have ever produced, just one of the best.

Skill Cole lacked the discipline needed to achieve greatness. He was dumped from his Brazilizn club and only excelled locally.

Lets not trivialize this accomplishment by Gardner by going down this road of comparing who is best ever, etc.Skill Cole, John Barnes, Lindy Delaphena (sp), Paul Davis and many more has contributed greatly to the country's football development. Let us all humble ourselves and mask in this accomplishment by Bibi. After all they don't come too often.

John Barns is our most accomplished Jamaica born baller, Bibi is our most accomplished Jamaica born player that played for Jamaica. However, most accomplished does not mean best. We have had many great players, but most of them never got the opportunity to play on the world stage. Many on this site probably don't know many of our previous great ballers because of one reason or another.

Actually, I would love to see Bibi playing for one of the top Italian or Spanish clubs. Say...Inter Milan, Juventus or AC Milan - Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc. It's about time our Ballas explore these fronts. One in would open the doors for others. Gwaan Bibi!

Bibi wants suggestions for who he should donate his prize money to: quote: BOLTON Wanderers star Ricardo Gardner paid a visit to a school - and picked up an award from Education Secretary Ruth Kelly. The defender won the "Player of the Round" award for his performance in the fourth round of the FA Cup when Wanderers beat Arsenal. And while he was at Claypool Primary School, Horwich, to look at the completion of improvements there, Ms Kelly, the MP for Bolton West, presented him with a trophy from the FA. She was visiting the school to present it with an ArtsMark gold award for its outstanding record in performing and creative arts. Ms Kelly said: "I'm a big fan of the Wanderers and Ricardo, so it was great to be able to present him with his award." The recent improvements to the school have resulted in larger teaching areas for year five and year six pupils. There is also a new school entrance with new administration space, a headteacher's room, teaching space for music and other work in small groups, better toilets and a bigger staffroom. Headteacher Glenys Evans said: "We have had a major building project to enhance our facilities, which is great for both pupils and staff. "It was fantastic to have Ruth and Ricardo here to share in the celebrations. "These additions make the school a truly modern primary school and provide excellent facilities for children to learn effectively." Ms Kelly said: "The new facilities at the school are wonderful and they will be of great pride for teachers and pupils in the future." Ricardo said he was delighted to have been chosen Player of the Round after the FA Cup defeat of Arsenal. The Jamaican star was one of five players nominated for the award. He polled 37 per cent of the 15,000 votes cast by fans on website TheFA.com He was shortlisted for the award after his man of the match performance helped to defeat Arsenal and set up a fifth round home tie against West Ham. In addition to being Player of the Round, Ricardo' was also included in the FA's Team of the Cup. This guarantees his VIP attendance at the FA Cup final in May - should Wanderers not make it - and a half-time introduction to the crowd. He also won £1,000 worth of UMBRO football vouchers and is asking people in Bolton to call 07966 24410 to nominate any worthy causes he can hand the vouchers to.
Shouldn't he be sending it back home to Jam; surely there is more of a need there?
