The first Jamaican player ever to sign for
a Swedish club (what i now about).
Khari Stephenson sign for 3 years.
GAIS is back in top division after some years in lower divisions. The club are based
in Gothenburg and they are sharing the arena Gamla Ullevi with IFK Goteborg and örgryte two other teams in top
division. The team is nr 2 in Town but easaly have the hardest fans.
Things are hapening in the team right now and it's perfect to stick out with this
signing. The trainer Roland Nilsson (former intenational player World Cup 1994)are saying this about Khari: It's a big player with god technique. He has a good "head" and he is thinking football in nthe right way.He want's to be involved and have a lot of ball. He want's to get the ball forward and he got the skill to do it. He will probably use him as a midfield motor.
Good news for us in GAIS.
Mail me if you ever planing to go to Sweden.

Kluivert aims to end injury troubles
Friday, 3 February 2006
e-mailPrint

Valencia CF striker Patrick Kluivert will visit a specialist in the Netherlands as he seeks a cure for the recurring knee ligament problems which have limited him to one Spanish league start this season. The 29-year-old, who has also made eight substitute appearances, will consult the surgeon who operated on his injured left knee last year. Kluivert came off the bench to score his only Primera División goal for Valencia against Real Zaragoza last weekend. Adding to Valencia's striking problems, forward Mista, 27, will be sidelined for at least three weeks after damaging a ligament in his right knee in training.

Manchester City FC could lose England Under-21 defender Nedum Onuoha for the rest of the season due a knee ligament injury. The 19-year-old, who has made ten first-team appearances this term, faces at least two months on the sidelines. "It looks as though we will do well to get him back before the end of the season," said manager Stuart Pearce. City lie tenth in the Premiership.

German strugglers 1. FC Nürnberg have cancelled their contract with Polish international defender Bartosz Bosacki with immediate effect. The 30-year-old was out of favour with coach Hans Meyer, making just four Bundesliga appearances this term. He is now expected to return to his homeland, with Lech Poznan and champions Wis³a Kraków favourites to win his signature.

The Polish Football Federation have reneged on their decision to dock three points from Lech for not fulfilling financial liabilities towards former player Pawe³ Wojtala. Lech will instead pay a fine of €1,300, with the decision meaning the club rise from eighth to fourth in the Ekstraklasa standings.

Elsewhere in Poland, Marcin Malinowski has committed to MKS Odra Wodzislaw Slaski until June 2008. The 30-year-old midfield player has scored seven goals in 218 games in the Polish top flight.

LOSC Lille Métropole have handed a two-year professional contract to homegrown defender Alexis Zywiecki. The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for the UEFA Cup participants, but did feature in the squad for last week's French Cup win against FC Lorient. "I have tasted first-team action and hope to do so again soon," Zywiecki said.

The Lorraine derby between Ligue 1's bottom side FC Metz and AS Nancy-Lorraine will not take place tomorrow due to a frozen pitch. It is the sixth French league game to be postponed in the space of two weeks as a cold spell bites hard in France. A rearranged date will be decided on 8 February.

Georgia will play FIFA World Cup finalists Paraguay in a friendly international in Austria on 31 May. Klaus Toppmöller's men had been due to face the South American side on 2 June, but Paraguay asked for the game to be brought forward. Paraguay are in World Cup Group B with England, Sweden and Trinidad & Tobago.

Swedish Allsvenskan newcomers GAIS (Göteborgs Atlet & Idrottssällskap) have secured the services of Jamaican international midfielder Khari Stephenson. The 25-year-old joins from United States Major League Soccer franchise Kansas City Wizards. "He's very tall but has excellent technique," said GAIS coach Roland Nilsson.

Romanian club FC Politehnica Iasi have agreed terms with SK Slavia Praha for the purchase of striker Martin Èernoch. The 28-year-old Czech player is expected to sign a two-year contract with Poli Iasi at their winter training camp in Italy.

Israeli side Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC have signed Georgian international forward Georgi Demetradze on a three-year contract. The 29-year-old leaves Russian team FC Alania Vladikavkaz who were relegated from the Premier-Liga in 2005. "Demetradze is a top-class striker with great goalscoring ability," said Maccabi coach Ton Kaanen. Fifth in Israel's Premier League, Maccabi become the latest club of Demetradze's much-travelled career after spells at FC Dinamo Tbilisi, FC Kakheti Telavi, Feyenoord, FC Dynamo Kyiv, Real Sociedad de Fútbol, FC Lokomotiv Moskva and FC Metalurh Donetsk.

Dundee United FC player-manager Craig Brewster has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his foot. The 39-year-old sustained the injury on his debut against Aberdeen FC on 21 January and was initially only expected to miss a month. "It gives me the chance to have a closer look at things and take stock of what is needed," Brewster said.

Very good.

Club seem to think he can take them up and keep them there.

Goals against, though amongst the leaders in the league, they need more goals to get up to top.

With winng comes the chance at Europe next season.

Stephenson seals three year deal with Swedish club

BY ANDREW HANCEL Observer staff reporter
Sunday, February 05, 2006

Reggae Boy Khari Stephenson has signed a three-year contract with Swedish club Goteborgs Atlet & Idrottssallskap, which will see him staying in Scandinavia until November 2008, the Sunday Observer has learnt.

STEPHENSON... was unhappy at MLS club Kansas City Wizards
Stephenson's father, Ambassador Stewart Stephenson, who played an influential role, along with agent Patrick McCabe, in securing the contract, broke the news in an interview yesterday after his son was unsettled at Major League Soccer (MLS) club Kansas City Wizards.

"Khari, on (last) Friday morning was presented with a three-year contract by his football club GAIS in Sweden," Stephenson confirmed. "The contract will run from February 2006 to the end of November 2008."
The value of the contract was not disclosed; however, the elder Stephenson, who is an attorney-at-law, believes that inking this deal will provide more opportunities for the 25 year-old central midfielder, who is expected to play a "an integral role" at his new club.

According to AB Stephenson, Khari left Jamaica last month, along with Reggae Boy Fabian Dawkins, on trials in Denmark en route to London before landing in Goteborg, where he had a three-week stint.
According to reports, young Stephenson was so impressive that after two weeks of training he was offered a contract.

"Now Khari's trial should have gone from the 21st January to the 14th of February, but by the 1st of February they present a basic contract, and then we had negotiations," said Stephenson, who is also president of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA).

He added: "He has so impressed the club directors and coaches that they were able to offer him a quote two weeks before he was due to leave. And he signed Thursday evening, the 2nd of February, and they had a press conference to announce his signing Friday."

The Stephenson's success comes against the background of his being used in different positions at Kansas City. In addition, the MLS franchise wanted the six-foot-three-inch player "to accept a salary cut of almost half to accommodate a Finland striker, which affected his performance".

As a part of the MLS pool the former Wolmer's player did not renew his contract and instead, took the option of returning to his native country, where he could use the possibility to represent a few interested local clubs while awaiting an opportunity for an overseas contract.

That worked out perfectly for Khari, who holds a degree in economics, has 17 caps for the national senior team and has represented his country at all levels, while playing in two Youth World Cups.

Adept with both feet and at dead-ball situations, Khari, according to his father, will be playing in his customary position in the centre of the pitch.

"Khari will be a regular starter on the team and he's going to be playing out of his central midfield role more attackingly," Stephenson pointed out.

"They (GAIS) play a flat four, he told me today, and he will be one of the central midfielders in more of an attacking role. And he told me that the coach has already informed him that he wants him in a play-maker's role."
