I am beginning to like Watson's game. He has the necessary quality required. He is becoming more confident and in just a matter of time he'll unleash his full potential in games for both club and country.

Lics, in your opinion how much of a player's skill and play, are directed by his coach? Do you think his club coach (Kinear) has more confidence in his play and give him more freedom to do the things he does for club and not for country? Plus, having supporting coaches like Ralston(good american reputation as a scorer)

We all can see Jevaughn's game has grown more since last year; He's more confident and he looked the part. Tappa used him as a winger which is not the strength of his game, and he showed in both games when he goes almost missing in first halves

It amazes me that Tappa will tinker with our flank, moving people around and that's not where our greatest needs are. And it's as if he refuses to tinker with the middle.

Though not my first choice, nevertheless I think it would have being better having Jevaughn next to Jason in center midfield in a 4-5-1 set, but instead he opted for the lethargic 4-4-2 formation in the past two games.

Hamilton, do you think it would be a prudent move to simply pick the best players we have for their position, with a few exceptions? For example, i would not hire a floor nurse to work in an ICU. however, i might consider a Medical ICU nurse to work in Cardiac ICU. simply because of the task requirements and complexities of the job.

So, if a guy is a predominant center MF for his club, i would be hesitant in having him play outside MF positions. Club seasons are usually 35+ games and national tournaments tend to be clusters of important 4-8 games. Mistakes are more costly.

At a club level, its easier to tinker with player position movement, since this is the player's everyday job and the coaches have that player for much longer time vs. national duty

If the coach is timid then the players follow suit..........If the coach exudes (GENUINE) confidence, then the players will do the same.....However, players can sense Bull(Kaka) from a mile away regardless of what the coach is saying.

Watson hopes to shake off shackles

Ryon Jones, Staff Reporter

JeVaughn Watson looks to get the ball away from Panama's Yairo Glaize (front) during a friendly international recently. - AP

Participating in his first World Cup Qualifying campaign, JeVaughn Watson has conceded to being a bit overwhelmed by the occasion.

The result has been the midfielder not being his usual expressive self in the team's opening two CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying (WCQ) semi-final matches.

The 28-year-old played the full 90 minutes in both the 2-1 win over Guatemala, at the National Stadium, and Tuesday's nil-all away draw with Antigua and Barbuda.

"It is the occasion, because even in last (Tuesday) night's game I got like two players and sometimes I can really take on the guys, but sometimes some of the players are moving behind, so I try to play a passing game," Watson said on Wednesday night at the Norman Manley International Airport after the team returned to the island.

performance

"I think my performance could have been better, but I think in the second half I picked up my game because in the first half, I was probably a bit timid," he added.

Watson was concentrated in central midfield during his six years with national premier league outfit Sporting Central Academy. He has, however, so far been deployed in a wide role for the national team.

"I am comfortable playing there (wide) or wherever the coach puts me, because I am a professional soccer player and wherever I play, I will go there and do the best for myself and my country," Watson said. "Playing out there I get a lot of balls and I have a lot of speed and that's what the coach wants me to do, to run the flank up and down; I am a very mobile player, so I try to do whatever they say I should do," he added.

Jamaica next qualifier will be against the United States on September 7 and Watson is promising a more inspired performance.

If he continues to improve his decision-making, Watson can handle the center/creative mid role.

This is what I said on another thread after watching Watson's last game:

JeVaughn Watson had a good showing and showed some good shooting range. That's one yute that has gone from strength to strength since coming to MLS. I was watching his style of playing and thinking that in the absense of that elusive creative midfielder that everybody a chase dung, put Watson inna di middle. He's a proven ball winner, aggressive in defense and dangerous going forward.

Jevaughn's club coach is a former central mid and Tappa is a former central mid, I think Watson has the physical tools to handle this role and as he gains more experience in MLS and in the CONCACAF Champions League starting August he can progress into this role.

Kinnear will also welcome the presence of central midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson, who had been splitting time with Luiz Camargo before missing the last three matches with a left adductor strain. Camargo started all three games in Watson’s absence, but the return of the Jamaican international will lessen some of the physical load placed on the remaining midfielders.

Jevaughn will need to elevate his game to another level real quick because his team is assembling a top, top midfield with pure national team level ballas from USA, Honduras and Jamaica.

All his hype about Birmingham City trial and rah, rah, rah. He betta step up in Houston and for the Reggaeboyz.

Rise up Jevaughn now di competition start.

Ricardo Clark returning to MLS, Houston Dynamo

Published 12 hours and 37 minutes ago Last updated 12 hours and 31 minutes ago

U.S. national team midfielder Ricardo Clark appears to be on his way back to the Houston Dynamo, where he won two MLS Cup titles before leaving for Germany in 2009.

Dynamo president Chris Canetti confirmed the move to reporters Thursday and subsequently wrote on Twitter, “Happy to finalize everything with Rico Clark. Now, it's a matter of getting him on the active roster. A bit complicated. Next week maybe?”

A club spokesperson told Sporting News that one hurdle remains before Clark’s return becomes official -- defender Geoff Cameron must complete his transfer to England’s Stoke City.

Cameron makes $255,000, and his departure would free up the salary budget space Houston needs to add Clark to the roster. The Dynamo retained his rights because the club attempted to re-sign him when his previous deal expired. Clark instead chose to test the waters in Europe and joined Eintracht Frankfurt, but he battled injuries and failed to secure consistent playing time.

The Atlanta native played on loan with Norway’s Stabæk in the spring of 2012 before Eintracht terminated his contract in July. Clark is able to sign with Houston outside of the summer transfer window because he’s a free agent.

Despite his struggles at the club level, Clark started two games in central midfield at the 2010 World Cup: the opener vs. England and the second-round loss to Ghana. Clark’s early turnover, which led to a Ghana goal, and a subsequent yellow card led to his substitution in just the 31st minute that evening in Rustenberg.

Clark didn’t play again for the U.S. until last January, when he scored the only goal in the Americans’ 1-0 exhibition win over Venezuela. He started four days later in the 1-0 victory at Panama.

Cameron needs a British work permit to finalize his move to Stoke. His hearing is scheduled for Aug. 8. The Houston Chronicle reported that the Dynamo asked MLS for leniency because it was the league that held up the transfer agreement with Stoke, but that its request to expedite Clark’s eligibility was denied.

If Watson is played in his preferred right-mid or central-right mid position he can do well for club and country but he needs to start putting in the extra work before and after training daily.

I'm watching HD vs NRB right now on NBC Sports and Watson is not starting on bench again tonoght.

If JW wants to be seen as legit #10, he has to get the scrimmage tendencies out of his game. He's not providing that killer final pass and not proving to be a goal scoring threat.

Houston has made the switch to a 4-3-3 and Watson is behind Carr at attacking right mid/wing.

Final score NRB 2 HD 0. Taylor had decent game but stil not sold on him at center back. HD made 3 subs but no run foe Jevaughn Watson.
