JAMAICA'S Under-17 footballers, who opened their CFU Under-17 World Cup qualifying campaign with a resounding 5-0 hammering of Bermuda on Wednesday evening, will turn their attention to see what their next opponent Antigua and Barbuda have to offer when the latter play Bermuda at 6:00 pm at the Waterhouse Stadium.
Head coach Wendell Downwell told the Jamaica Observer he was at a disadvantage prior to the Bermuda match, but will get a chance to scout the Antiguan team before their match-up on Sunday.

"We were at a distinct disadvantage because we didn't get an opportunity to see the Bermudan team, but we will get an opportunity to see them (Antigua) and from that we can see what tactical approach to use," he pointed out.
But Downswell didn't need to see much of Bermuda as his charges ran riot in an easy 5-0 win and it was clear from the first few minutes that they would be no match for the young Reggae Boyz.
Wolmerian Jaheel Hyde, the son of the outstanding Lenworth Hyde, grabbed a three-timer in the 15th, 28th and 60th minutes in a display watched by his illustrious father.
Captain Junior Flemmings scored in the 51st minute, while US-based Michael Seaton of DC United Academy and Central High, got his goal in the 70th minute before being substituted three minutes later.
"I am very happy that we have made a positive start as you know... our first game, they may be a little bit apprehensive in the fact that we had a large percentage of them making their international debut," said coach Downwell.
"So we are pretty satisfied with the performance, we could have scored some more goals... if we were more clinical around the 18-yard box," he added.
Jamaica, as expected, jumped to the top of the three-team group with maximum three points. Bermuda are pointless, while Antigua and Barbuda who arrived on Thursday, will play their first match.
Jamaica, who are on a mission to qualify back-to-back FIFA Under-17 World Cup, were clearly the better team and should have won by a much wider margin.
Wolmer's Boys' prodigy, Hyde, starting at left midfield, opened the scoring with a brilliant 350-metre effort after the goalkeeper's clearance fell to him.
He doubled Jamaica's advantage in the 28th minute, skipping by two defenders and calmly slotting home and grabbed his three-timer from a 30-metre free-kick, which eluded everyone and nestled into the side of the goal in the 60th minute.
Seaton notched his first goal after latching onto a Junior Flemmings' pass and fired past the advancing goalkeeper. He got his second, nodding home from close range.
Jamaica will be in action again on Sunday when they play Antigua and Barbuda at 7:00 pm at the Waterhouse Stadium.

Bermuda beats Antigua/Barbuda in CFU qualifying match
Bermuda battled through two power outages at the Waterhouse mini stadium Friday night to beat Antigua Barbuda 2-1 in their CFU under-17 first round qualifying match.
Bermuda were leading 1-nil when the first power interruption occurred after 40 minutes, but on resumption more than an hour later antigua/barbuda equalised.
But the Bermudans who lost 5 nil to Jamaica ensured they left with maximum points after yet another delay.
Jamaica will be back in action at 6 p.m. Sunday against Antigua Barbuda.

JAMAICA'S Under-17s are poised to top Group 1 of the Caribbean Football Union's Qualifier when they take on Antigua and Barbuda at the Waterhouse Stadium starting at 7:00 pm.
Following their massive 5-0 win over Bermuda on Wednesday and Bermuda's 2-1 win over Antigua on Friday, the young Reggae Boyz should have little difficulty in securing top spot in the group.
Jamaica lead the three-team zone with three points, the same as Bermuda, who have played a game more. Antigua are at the bottom without a point.
Jamaica would have to lose by at least five goals to be denied top spot and a place into the CFU final round set for August 19-30.
Head coach Wendel Downswell had the opportunity to watch Antigua in action and should be bubbling with confidence after the result.
"There will be no complaceny or anything like that; we will remain positive. I think people might see them as not a strong team based on their first performance," said Downswell.
He added: "We see these two international games as part of our preparations going forward in the competition."
Following their impressive 5-0 over Bermuda, Downswell will be making a few changes to his starting team.
Defenders Arando Brown and Kyle Anderson will definitely be inserted among the few changes.
"We're satisfied with the performance but we will be looking at some players in a couple of spots to see how they cope at the international level," Downswell said.

Bermuda, which defeated Antigua 2-1 on Friday night with a pair of goals by Ras Stafari Burrows, was second with three points.

U-17s ahead of last team - Downswell Published: Tuesday | July 17, 2012 0 Comments Downswell Downswell
Jermaine Lannaman, Gleaner Writer
National Under-17 football team coach, Wendell Downswell, says the current team appears to be at a more advanced stage than that which qualified for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico last year.
Downswell, who led the team which drew one match and lost two at the World Cup, made the remark on Sunday night shortly after Jamaica's 4-0 win over Antigua and Barbuda in their second and final Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Group One Under-17 qualifying match at Drewsland Stadium.
The victory propelled Jamaica to top of the group with maximum six points and into the final round of CFU qualifiers, which will be held between August 19 and 30 at a venue to be decided.
Jamaica, courtesy of a hat-trick from Jaheel Hyde, defeated Bermuda 5-0 in their opening fixture.
"At this stage they appear to be ahead of the last team, given the way they are playing," said Downswell.
"They are more consistent in terms of performances than the previous batch, and this was evident in the KSAFA Under-20 competition, which we played as warm-up.
"During the Under-20 competition, the team won seven, drew two and lost one of its matches - to eventual winners Harbour View.
"This is different from the last time around, in which the team, after a year and a half of preparation, never looked as convincing or consistent," he assessed.
Double from Flemmings
Jamaica were led to victory over Antigua and Barbuda on a brace from forward Junior Flemmings, who also scored in the first match.
The fleet-footed striker netted in the 17th and 20th minutes to add to midfielder I'Ishmael Currie's opening goal in the 10th minute.
Flemmings' strike partner, Michael Seaten, who also scored in the first match, rounded off the scoring in the 44th minute.
"We are happy to come through these qualifiers with nine goals, as it has instilled a certain level of confidence in them and lays a good foundation for the team to progress in the other rounds," said Downswell.
"The coaching staff will now be looking to a few internationals before the final round, as well as playing against the national Under-20 squad, which is in training, and a couple of high-school teams, who are preparing for upcoming competitions."
Downswell, whose charges lost 1-0 to Japan, 2-1 to Argentina and drew 1-1 with France at the World Cup, also said despite looking at 600 players islandwide at the confederation and parish levels, the coaching staff will be reopening the window for new players.
"We will be opening the window again to take a look at a few more players, albeit on smaller scale, as we are still in need of another quality striker, left full back, central midfielder and central defender," he said.
The final round of CFU qualifiers will include the five qualifying group winners, as well as the top second-place team.
The top three teams from the qualifiers will advance to the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship, which will be held in Panama early next year.
The top three teams from the Panama play-off will qualify for the Under-17 World Cup Finals, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in summer next year.
