I believe Hugh Evans is too old to play for this U17 team.
These players are born 1996 or later, Evans born in 1994 so he is eligible for the u20 team.

JAMAICA'S Under-17 footballer begin their quest to become the first national team to qualify for successive FIFA World Cup Finals when they play Bermuda at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium this evening at 7:00.
Jamaica host Group 1 of the Caribbean qualifying first round which includes Bermuda and Antigua, and are overwhelming favourites to top the group.
There are five groups, with the winners and best second-placed team advancing to the final Caribbean round set for August 19-30. Cuba and Haiti have already secured their berths from Groups 2 and 3.
Five of the six teams from the final Caribbean qualifiers will then advance to the CONCACAF U-17 Championship in Panama between April 6-19, with three teams qualifying for the World Cup.
Head coach Wendell Downswell, who led the country to the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, is confident of getting through this first stage unscratched.
"The youngsters have done well so far leading up to this stage of the competition. We are supposed to be able to get over these two Caribbean teams. We know the Caribbean teams are normally highly charged and motivated when playing against Jamaica," Downswell noted.
The general thought is that Jamaica are the regional giants and anything than convincing wins against Bermuda and Antigua will disappoint the home fans. However, Downswell is not entirely of that view.
"I don't think it will be that easy. If you look at the (senior) World Cup qualifiers, people think that Antigua would be easy pickings. It appears that way on paper," he said with a chuckle.
The Jamaicans have been in camp for the last few weeks and participated in the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-20 League where they won seven of 10 games played, while losing to a very good Harbour View aggregation.
"We are confident based on our preparations and the fact that they played against some Under-20s in the KSAFA competition. This will be the real test of character," Downswell added.
Bermudan coach Scott Morton is equally confident and believes his charges will give a good account of themselves.
"We are very optimistic. Our chances are just as good as all the other teams in Jamaica and Antigua and we respect opponents, but we never fear them," said Morton.
"It is for us to just stay confident as we've always been and do the job on the pitch. We have to play with a lot of intelligence and we should be okay," he added.
Bermuda have several players based in the United Kingdom and the United States and Morton thinks that will help.
"We have players that go to prep schools in England and play in some small academies getting their feet wet in their first year. We have a few boys who are based in the US schools and they are used to the higher level and train at a more intense level and their experiences will definitely be useful for us," he confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica squad had a training session on Monday as they fine-tuned their preparations at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium.
It was a difficult one for the coaching staff as both Downswell and assistant Alfredo Montesso could be seen shaking their heads in disappointment during the drills.
Montesso, who worked with the attacking players, showed his frustrated as he rushed for a water break, shaking his head and murmuring, "Never before, I have to be repeating, repeating, repeating."
Downswell, at the other end of the field, tried desperately to organise the back line as a unit.
The team will be captain by Jamaica College striker Junior Flemmings from Tivoli Gardens who was part of the last U-17 setup before being dropped prior to the World Cup. He has banged in nine goals during the KSAFA U-20 tournament.
US-based Michael Seaton of DC United should partner Flemmings in what is expected to be a formidable frontline, especially with the talented Martin Davis back from the Valencia Academy on the bench.
Iishmale Currie of Garvey Maceo was also a part of the last squad and will be the main midfielder, alongside Wolmer's Boys' Jaheel Hyde, the son of local icon Lenworth Hyde.
Tyshan Hill of Spot Valley should organise the defenders, while Courtney Dowdie of Pembroke Hall High is expected to get the nod in goal.
good likkle match still but if them wah go werl cup dem ago need dem phenix players deh even tho they won by 5 goals to nill bermuda wasnt a gud team. All in all them shud get by this round but them need to strenthen the squad to get to werl cup. The 16(a winger)an di 12, two very skillfull n talented lads.

These guys need time training and playing together, the next CFU final round will be tough but manageable, at least Downswell is getting the good foreign-based players involved early.

Jamaica hammer Bermuda - Hyde nets hat-trick in CFU opener Published: Thursday | July 12, 2012 0 Comments
Robert Bailey, Gleaner Writer
Jaheel Hyde flourished as he netted a hat-trick to guide Jamaica's Under-17 footballers to an emphatic 5-0 victory over Bermuda in the opening Group One game of their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) World Cup qualifier last night at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium.
Hyde, the son of former national player and well-respected coach, Lenworth 'Teacher' Hyde, netted in the 15th, 28th and 61st minutes.
Captain Junior Flemmings (50th) and Michael Seaton (71st) were the other goalscorers for the Wendell Downswell-coached junior Reggae Boyz.
Hyde, a student of Wolmer's Boys' School, was very delighted with his achievement.
"I feel wonderful scoring three goals for the national team," said Hyde.
"I went out there and I did my best because I worked hard and I never stop playing until the final whistle," added Hyde, who stated that he is an admirer of Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie.
Downswell said he was pleased with his team's performance.
"We are happy that we have made a positive start because it is our first game. There were some butterflies, but overall it was good that we scored five goals.
"This will put us in good stead for our second game against Antigua and Barbuda on Sunday and the youngsters are confident that they will come out victorious in the game," Downswell added.
The Jamaicans made their intentions clear from the opening minutes when Flemmings collected a through pass from Ryan Miller inside the penalty box, but his shot went wide of the target.
The homesters were finally rewarded when Hyde fired home a spectacular 35-yard shot, which went between the hands of custodian Bell Detre.
The speedy and skilful Hyde netted his second goal when he slotted home from point-blank range past Bell.
He then completed his hat-trick 11 minutes into the second half with 20-yard free kick.
The competition continues today when Bermuda tackle Antigua and Barbuda at the same venue, starting at 6 p.m.
Of the four teams participating in this group, the top two will advance to the CONCACAF Finals in August.

Papine youngster steals show at Awards BY LIVINGSTON SCOTT Observer staff reporter Sunday, February 14, 2010
Read more: http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/KSAFA-Turn-feb-14#ixzz20QufxpHV Twelve-year-old Leon Bailey of Papine FC stole the show at the Claro/KSAFA Youth Football Awards Presentation at the Jamaica Pegasus last Thursday. Bailey copped three Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards in three different age groups competitions — Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 — and was the topscorer as winners of two of those competitions. Claro representative Latoy Williams (left) presents Papine FC’s Leon Bailey with one of his many awards at the Claro/KSAFA awards function at the Jamaica PegasusHotel last Thursday. (Photo: Garfield Robinson) 1/2 The youngster inspired his team’s victory, top-scoring in Zone B of the Under-13 league with 20 goals and being named MVP. He did the same while playing for Meadforest in the St Andrew Under-15 competition, netting 12 goals, the MVP award and victory in the league. And though he was not the top-scorer in the Under-17 contest, he was voted MVP as he helped his team to the title. The Kingston College student says although he scored many goals, he believes his playmaking is his main strength. “I feel very good about this achievement,” he said afterwards. “I didn’t expect this in the Under-17, but in the Under-13 and Under-15 I expected it,” he beamed. “... This has motivated me to know that I can go on to professional football and do well,” he added. His coach Andrew James described the youngster as a dedicated, disiplined player who is focused on making it professionally. He is confident he will be successful.

Do your players already hold EU passport for Jamaica or Germany?
Where they in Jamaica in June 2012? Any communication from the JFF?
I did notice there were three (3) foreign-based players in the squad.
Keep up the work and I they should be able to fight for a spot in the 2013 U17 squad training at the turn of the year or even the CONCACAF Finals at the U17/U20 level.

Craig..what's up with the screaming man? My eyes hurt? Why not be proactive and send videos of the kids to the coach at JFF? Why not request to have a try out for the team? If you think the kids are that good why not bring them and let JFF see what they are missing?
Granted, the scouting process is not up to par, but if we see talent out there we can be our country's scout too since we want the youths to be the future of Jamaican football!
Just saying! We can't assume that JFF knows about them, and we cannot assume that the parents of these boys overseas want them to play for Jamaica. Not everyone bleeds BLACK, GREEN and GOLD u know!

Shelle,
A bit a background history, Mr. Butler has a some Jamaican-born and raised young footballers in Europe over the past 1-3 years and doing well based on HIS reports. These players are Jamaica born and raised nothing foreign about them.

Okay..thanks Jamatl...so his issue is that they do want to play for Jamaica but have not been contacted?
So, my question is this, what do you think we as avid supporters of the Black, Green and Gold can do to make sure that the talent that we see overseas/local, does not go to some other country?
How is the scouting done? For example, I have seen some kids that I think (not an expert like some other people, but know the sport, the hubby played and the kid now plays) would be an asset to Jamaica. How do we tap into that talent pool and get that information relayed to the relevant people?
