Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan told Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing that he didn't make the cut to be the team's coach, Yahoo! Sports reported on Wednesday.
The former Knicks center interviewed with Bobcats management, and since Ewing and Jordan are friends, MJ personally reached out to deliver the news.
According to the report, the Bobcats now want to see where they end up in the draft lottery Wednesday before they move the interview process forward. Charlotte has a 25 percent chance, the best of any team, to get the first pick in the draft. Kentucky's Anthony Davis is widely regarded as the No. 1 player available.
Ewing is an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic. Among the names in the mix for the Bobcats are Golden State assistant Mike Malone, former Utah coach Jerry Sloan, ex-Portland coach Nate McMillan and Cleveland assistant Nate Tibbetts.
Charlotte didn't bring back Paul Silas after a 7-59 record this season.
Personally, think this would be a great move for Ewing's aspiring heading coaching career. Plus, his son is on the national team. My Hibbert would reconsider. I think if he should ever decide to coach jamaica's national team, some other potentially good players with jamaican connections would play for jamaica....

Karl, not bad idea...I got interested in Basketball because of Ewing. Kinda disappointed that Hibbert want to switch back to USA. Jamaica would have a nice little squad for Centro Basketball champ. I can only dream of a jamaican twin towers of a Young 7ft Ewing 7' 2" Hibbert and 7ft Jerome Jordan coming off bench. Rumeal Robinson PG Drew Kennedy SG and PF Samardo Samuels. Add Ewing jnr, Wayne Sappleton and Kevin young.
Really, thought Jordan would give him the Bobcats job but sometimes friendship and business not a good mix.
Anyway Patrick that what you get for being a nice guy to Jordan over the yrs and watch him win 6 titles. Pat Riley was right when he said Jordan was a con man in interview. He'd sweet talk all Knicks tough guys and soften them up to get them on his side. Had them taking him out to dinner before games and vice versa then he'd turn around and drop 50 pon dem.
JAMAICA’S men’s basketball team jetted off to Puerto Rico yesterday to compete in the Centrobasketball Tournament which will be held from June 18-24, and coach Sam Vincent and president Ajani Williams believe this team has a good chance of making the semi-finals and qualifying for the Tournament of the Americas. Jamaica will contest Group One with Costa Rica, US Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and Mexico, while Cuba, The Bahamas, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Panama will compete in Group Two.
Williams said since the 1990s, this is the strongest team he has seen assembled, adding that with New York Knicks’ Jerome Jordon and Cleveland Cavaliers’ Samardo Samuels in the squad together for the first time, it’s just to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. “I think this is the best chance that we’ve ever had, going back to 1996 when we had Romair Robinson, Andrew Kennedy and Ben Davis,” he told the Jamaica Observer at UTech’s Alfred Sangster Auditorium where Jamaicans played a practise match against a FLOW All-Stars team before their departure yesterday. “Had we had the administrative help at that time, that team would have made it past Centro... but since that team, I would say that this has been possibly our strongest team,” he added. He added that he likes some of the pieces added to the puzzle this year like point guard, Dillion Ellis. However, he said having Samuels and Jordan was the biggest plus for the team and he thinks they can go all the way with these two. “If the point guard can focus on the inside-outside game, we can actually win the tournament,” he said. He pointed out that although these players have all played for Jamaica before, most have never played together. Vincent also has high hopes for the team based on the players he has at his disposal and the preparation they have had. “I think we have a chance to go all the way through the tournament and qualify for the World Championship, and that’s our goal,” he told the Sunday Observer. “We have been working together for about a week and the guys have been training hard and we got players like Jerome (Jordan) and Samardo (Samuels) in, so we got a very talented team. We just need to keep working hard and get ready for the games,” he said. But despite his optimism, he expects a very difficult tournament nonetheless. “The Dominican Republic is going to be tough, they are in the Olympics this year; the US Virgin Islands will also be another tough team and Mexico will be good as usual, but we got our guys and they are ready to play,” he added. Meanwhile, Williams said the situation with Roy Hibbert Jnr is still in limbo; however, he said he spoke with the Cleveland Cavaliers man recently and let him know that if his desire to play for the USA is not realised, Jamaica will gladly accept him back into the fold. “I spoke to him over a week ago and told him that USA Basketball has not called me as yet, but if they do, we (JABA) will move forward whatever we have to get him released. “But if they don’t, he should know that Jamaica loves him and is ready to accept him with open arms,” he said. “I told him we don’t want him to feel that because he asked for a release he can’t come back; we want him back and if he says ‘yes’ tomorrow, the whole country will be happy.” He said qualifying for the Tournament of the Americas would take Jamaican basketball to new levels. “If this team can move forward, I think it will allow us to put in more resources, so if we qualify, it would be huge because it would put us in the Tournament of the Americas where we play teams like Canada, Argentina, Brazil,” he said. In the game yesterday, the Jamaicans beat the FLOW/NBL All-Stars, 79-44, with Samuels topscoring with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Jordan also had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Kimani Friend 14 points and eight rebounds. Shane Williams led the All-Stars with 14 points and eight rebounds, followed by Omar Barnes with 13 points and Leon Chung and Fernando Young with 11 each. Jamaica squad: Akeem Scott, Dylan Ellis, Weyinimi Rose (formerly Efujuku), Patrick Ewing Jnr, Stevem Toyloy, Courtney Walters, Ricardo Halliman, Bryan Grant, Kimani Friend, Samardo Samuels, Jerome Jordon, Vashil Fernandez and Lynford Brown

Yo just check out the link. Not sure which 2 teams playing now most of the screen is covered by pop ups. Good showing by Ja so far.. Good production from point guard, shooting guard and PF Samuels. check out link:
Whats the Score? CAN, DR, PR, MEX and obviously the USA are the big dawgs in our region. DR is in the pre-Olympics qualifiying group set for next month. If JAM could upset them and then beat MEX, we would be in the Olympic qualifying group for the 2016 games. I think we just need to make the finals to be in the qualifying group.
