Brown who was coached by ite, Andrew Edwards(aka colour) and hagla, as a yute has impressed amongst the local youths. The STETHS technical staff mentioned that he will be back there next season. A few questions:

1. How old is Deshawn Brown?
2. What club does he play for?
3. Does he have any youth international experience?

I assume he will be turning out in the Western Super League after the schoolboy season ends.

----------------------------------------
hagla,

any info is appreciated.

1.He should be around 18/19 this academic year

2. Dont know of him playing for any club when I was around. He is from the Downs area (St. Bess/manchester border) they are in the southern Confed. so could be a possibilty. Then again Palmer, Phinn(steths to Harbour view FC) from almost the same area so anything can happen.
3. never heard of him getting any national call up.

At 21 years old, Deshorn Brown needs to give NCAA Division One competition a run next year. If he transfers to a top 10 program and does some damage, he will increases his professional value.

He has already proven himself at the NAIA level.

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF men's soccer head coach Bryan Cunningham announced Wednesday that Deshorn Brown, a talented transfer, has signed a Grant-In-Aid with the Knights and will join the program this fall. A forward, Brown spent the last two years at the University of Mobile where he was a two-time NAIA All-America First Team selection.

A native of Jamaica, Brown led all NAIA players with 32 goals in 2011. He totaled 67 points and had 10 game-winning goals to rank second in the nation in both categories. Brown had nine multi-goal contests and recorded five hat tricks.

Brown will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Knights.

"We are really looking forward to having Deshorn join our team," Cunningham said. "He is an exceptional forward who scored frequently on the NAIA level. We are confident that his goal-scoring ability will transfer over to UCF."

This past season, Brown led his team to the round of 16 in the NAIA National Championship. For the second-straight year, he was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

As a freshman in 2010, Brown registered 21 goals. He will join a UCF program that has enjoyed great success under Cunningham. The Knights have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship in two-straight seasons and were ranked as high as No. 6 nationally in 2011.

Joins Damian Lowe at Reading PDL this summer

Reading Adds Brown To Squad
Former Menace standout is joined by JMU's Wyatt

Reading United AC News Release -- http://www.readingunitedac.com

Friday, April 27, 2012

READING, Pa. – Reading United has announced two more player signings for the 2012 season, as University of Mobile’s (NAIA) Deshorn Brown and James Madison’s Paul Wyatt will don the blue and gold this summer.

Brown is a Jamaican Youth International and was selected as a First Team NAIA All-American after scoring an astounding 32 goals in the 2011 for the Mobile as a sophomore. A teammate of returning player and fan-favorite Stephen Okai, Brown graced the field for the PDL’s Des Moines Menace last season. Brown had a breakout summer, netting nine goals in 10 games, while adding three assists.

"Deshorn was also a target for us last year who has decided to join the club this year,” said head coach Brendan Burke. “His versatility along the front line, pace, and technical proficiency with both feet make him someone that will draw a great deal of attention from the opposition, which promises to leave his teammates extra time and space all over the field. If he is not paid that attention, he has proved in a big way that he will make teams pay."

Wyatt, a Modbury, England native, was named First Team All-Colonial Athletic Conference and Second Team DI All-American after his efforts leading James Madison to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. His midfield/forward versatility has led to his consistent scoring touch over his college career (46 points in 54 games, all starts).

"Reading has a proven track record of producing pro players," said Wyatt. “I always like to compare myself to the best players and when you are playing well and surrounded by the best players you can get the most out of yourself. It is a win win situation. If I am playing well, I will play every game and get better, and if for some reason I am not playing, then I know where I need to improve."

"Paul is a player that works extremely hard every time he steps on the field and that will suit him very well in our training environment," said Burke. “We want these guys to fully understand what it is to be a pro and that starts with their mindset. It also doesn't hurt that he has consistently contributed goals and assists at the college level and come highly recommended to us by MLS Rookie of the Year CJ Sapong."

Reading United A.C. kick off their 2012 season on Saturday May 12 at 7 p.m. against the New Jersey Rangers at Albright Stadium. 2012 Reading United Game Day Tickets and Season Tickets now available at readingunitedac.com. UCF returns a large, strong core of players that includes forward McKauly Tulloch who scored 15 goals to go with four assists and midfielder Nik Robson who scored nine times and added six assists. The Knights also have their entire back four and both keepers that saw time last year returning. If UCF’s roster just rolled over with no additions, it certainly would be considered among the best in the country. Of course, that’s not how the game is played, and while Cunningham has sprinkled in recruits that will grow in the program, he also added Deshorn Brown, a player many expect to have a big, immediate impact for UCF.

Brown, a native of Jamaica, spent two seasons at the University of Mobile (NAIA) where he was a two-time first team All-America selection. Brown scored 53 goals in the two years, including thirty-two last year.

“Deshorn is quick, athletic, slippery on the ball, extremely technical and a great finisher,” Cunningham says. “He’s clinical inside that critical area – inside 12 yards – he just takes the ball so cleanly with both feet. One of the things that I really like about him, though, is that he knows how to play without the ball. He’s not just looking for that first pass but where that second pass is going to be, and I think that’s what separates good strikers in the world.”

“We are expecting big things,” Cunningham continues. “We have good players out wide that can get him the ball, and we think with Tulloch, we will have one of the best strike forces in the county.”

In the Lady Gaga song, on the edge of glory, one is hanging on a moment of truth. UCF is on the edge, and those moments of truth are coming soon this fall.

Brown Lifts United Past Bohemians

Scores twice to give Reading 2-0 victory Saturday night

Saturday, June 2, 2012

READING, Pa. – Soccer games may last 90 minutes, but don’t tell Deshorn Brown that. His two goals in a four-minute span were all the offense Reading United needed to take a 2-0 victory against the Baltimore Bohemians on Saturday evening.

Brown’s first goal came after Reading initially struggled to keep up with the frantic pace Baltimore applied during the first half. Despite outshooting the Bohemians 9-2 at the break, United couldn’t slip one through until Brown pounced on a miscommunication by Baltimore’s backline. The University of Central Florida standout cut off a pass from defender Joseph Meyer intended for Bohs’ goalie Phillip Saunders, and tapped it into a wide open net for a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute.

Four minutes later, defender Greg Cochrane’s outstanding delivery with his left foot across the box found a rising Brown, who snapped home a header from 10 yards out for a 2-0 lead.

That spurt ended some frustration on the pitch for Brown, who nearly bagged his first goal in the 18th minute on a point blank shot on Saunders, who made a reflex save to keep things scoreless. He also had another chance that just missed in the 40th minute, after forward Pedro Ribeiro sent a cross to the back post that found a waiting Brown. Despite his two misses in the first half, Brown quickly redeemed himself soon after the second half whistle.

Reading outshot the Bohemians 14-3 and held an 8-2 advantage in corners. United keeper Emmanuel Martin recorded his third shutout of the young campaign without needing to make a save.

“The things that we work on every day in practice are finally starting to come through in games,” said head coach Brendan Burke. “It’s an encouraging trend that we need to continue, especially with our upcoming schedule.”

United will travel to Ocean City, N.J. to face the Nor’easters this coming Friday, then hit the road for a Wednesday match against the New Jersey Rangers. Reading battled the Rangers to a 1-1 tie in their season opener on May 12th.

In-between those two games is an exhibition against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, June 9th at 7 p.m. The exhibition is the third meeting between the Player Development Partner United and their parent Union club. Philadelphia holds a 1-0-1 advantage, taking a 1-0 victory in 2010 before a late strike netted United a 1-1 tie last year. Presold tickets are only $12, and can be purchased on readingunitedac.com. Tickets will also be available gameday at $15 each.

Wasn't McKauly Tulloch a freshman teammate of Mattocks at Akron? He left, in part due to Mattocks excellence on the field locking up the starting position. Good research by di ites. What I want to see now is more defenders from our youth ranks turning pro and excelling at that level. Defence is currently the national teams weakest area.
