Congrats ! now go get the 200 and 400 records. I like Asafa for 9.69 at trials this month .....for second!!!! I say give Bolt a slot in China, have him meet Asafa on the curcuit before the games to make some money!! Gay vs Asafa clash just went in the trash unless both can come up big at there trails.. that is wr big!!!
shouldn't be a major issue since these guys have been on the national team for quite some time and knows each other well. They have practiced exchanges in the past and just need a few adjustments.
You will never have the same type of intensity in a relay camp like France because these guys have their own individual events to focus on while the vast majority of the France team were just competiting in the relay.

the USA has a camp and if you don't show up u don't run. No one is calling for a week long camp. The camps are normally weekends. I do agree it should be easier. we still need a camp, if bolt doubles he won't run the first round of the relay

Did you see the 4x1 final last year? Must say since the team all train in JA, albeit different camps, this should make it easier.

anderson and thomas if they make the team train in the U.S., but I think carter and farter will make the team and they train in JA. Although I think MVP moves their camp to Italy for the summer

NEW YORK -- Like a bolt out of nowhere, Usain Bolt is now the world's fastest man.
The Jamaican runner, who doesn't even consider the 100 meters his best race, set the world record Saturday night with a time of 9.72 seconds at the Reebok Grand Prix, .02 seconds faster than the old record held by his countryman, Asafa Powell.
Bolt was using the 100 for "speed work" and to avoid having to run the more grueling 400, when, suddenly, he ran the world's second-fastest time last month at 9.76. Even then, he said he wasn't sure if he would give up the 400 meters for the 100 for the Beijing Olympics.
Hard to imagine he has any choice now.
Unfurling his lanky frame -- listed at 6-foot-4, but probably more like 6-5 and, either way, considered too tall for this kind of speed work -- he created a big-time gap between himself and Tyson Gay at about the halfway point, then routed him to the finish line.
Gay, the best sprinter in America, finished in 9.85.
Within moments of crossing the finish line, the 21-year-old from Kingston was hoisting the Jamaican flag and a crowd with hundreds of Jamaican fans was going wild.
"Just coming here, knowing a lot of Jamaicans were here giving me their support, it meant a lot," Bolt said. "I just wanted to give them what they wanted."
But who could have expected this?
Bolt has long been considered one of his country's top, up-and-coming sprinters, but his height and running style seemed to make him much more fit for the 200 and 400.
Like so many who compete in the 100, Bolt had lots of work to do with his push out of the blocks. He doesn't consider himself a true pro at that. And after a bad false start by the field -- the second gun didn't go off until the runners were 20 meters down the track -- this simply didn't seem like a night for world records.
But it was.
"He ran a perfect race," Gay said. "I've got to take my hat off to him."
So does Canada but trust me the among of exchanges are limited... The USA has so much dept that it's a dog eat dog world but I have yet to see a top sprinter in the USA not showcase in the relay.
That being said the only reason why the USA has lost relays in the past was because of bad exchanges which reflects the lack of practice.

Not sure about Anderson, but I thought Thomas was (now) with MVP..could be wrong...for the heck of it, we should run Blake on the 4x1 :D...with Bolt being 6'5" and Asafa 6'2" may make sense for Asafa to run the third leg and hand off to Bolt.

Did, but will have to check the tapes again. Trying to think of an order and it's hard to place Bolt and Asafa. Ideally either one should be on the back stretch but not sure if I would want either one of them handing off the baton.

I was thinking the same but don't know if I would want either one on third.

i think safa should start, but many seem to disagree, but he would make the jon drummond start look like schoolboy stuff. I really don't care about the line up as long as usain finishes (if he stops switching the baton then he can run the second leg)
bolt must anchor! he switches the baton and that is no no. unless he stops that he must anchor. that was part of our problem in Osaka
Based on this then...Anderson did an excellent job leading in past and Thomas runs a great back stretch; hence, Asafa on 3rd and Bolt achoring that is the most likely order.

It would be a waste using Asafa on lead off because it's the shortest leg and usually the slowest. Drummond was great because he always had a great 60m but fades...

I know it won't happen, but safa could always use the entire exchange box which would mean he would run more.
