Veteran midfielder Andy 'Bomber' Williams comes out of a two-year international retirement to join the Reggae Boyz for their five-match June blitz, which includes two World Cup qualifiers against the Bahamas, according to a Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) release yesterday.
Four new faces have been included in the 29-man squad for a May 26-June 1 training camp at Grand Lido Braco Hotel in Trelawny. They are Lee Williamson of Watford in England, Simon Ford of Kilmarnock in Scotland, Omar Cummings of the Colorado Rapids and Reno's Evan Taylor.
Williams, Norway-based Oneil Thomspon and Fabian Taylor; Cumming and Tyrone Marshall will not arrive for the start of the camp due to club commitments.
Meanwhile, Luton Town midfielder Richard Langley and Jermaine Johnson have earned recalls to the national squad, while regular captain Ricardo Gardener and Claude Davis both return from long-term injuries.
Portmore goalkeeper Shawn Sawyers heads a list of eight local-based players in the squad. The others are Taylor, Obrian Woodbine (Reno); Jermaine Taylor and Dwayne Miller (Harbour View); Adrian Reid and Rudolph Austin (Portmore), and Keneil Moodie (Seba).
The rest of the squad reads: Donovan Ricketts, Demar Stewart (Chendu, China), Ian Goodison, Jamal Campbell-Rice, Luton Shelton, Marlon King, Ricardo Fuller, Omar Daley, Demar Phillips and Deon Burton.
In addition to the aforementioned World Cup games, Jamaica will play international friendlies against Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago and St Vincent & the Grenadines.

It would have been nice to have seen Ryan Johnson from the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS included in the sqaud. I saw Ryan play on Thursday night in San Jose and he had a hand in both goals as San Jose beat the Houston Dynamo 2-1 for their first home win of the season. Ryan is fast and explosive, much better in the air that I thought he would be. He's on of those rare left footed players but very smart with the ball making clever little flicks and backheel passes. He seems very smart with the ball whether at his feet or in the air. He either made a shot out of nothing or he sent a cross over for one of his teammates. He was a menace all night on the left wing and could not be contained. Anyway, he'll hopefully get a chance to prove himself down the road. He's young and with a lot of potential. http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/sports/ht...BOYZ_SQUAD_.asp

Reggae Boyz Squad:
Goalkeepers: Shawn Sawyers, Donovan Ricketts and Dwayne Miller
Defenders: Claude Davis, Tyrone Marshall, Demar Stewart, Ian Goodison, Adrian Reid, Keneil Moodie, Obrian Woodbine, Jermaine Taylor, Simon Ford
Midfield: Andy Williams, Richard Langley, Ricardo Gardner, Jermaine Johnson, Lee Williamson, Oneil Thomspon, Rudolph Austin, Omar Daley, Demar Phillips, Jamal Campbell-Rice and Evan Taylor
Forwards: Omar Cummings, Fabian Taylor, Marlon King, Ricardo Fuller, Deon Burton, Luton Shelton
Noteable absentees: Damion "Stewpeas" Stewart.
Info on Lee Williamson:
http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10400~10449,00.html
Info on Simon Ford:
http://www.kilmarnockfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squad/SeniorSquad/0,,10291~31880,00.html
Info on Evan Taylor:
Taylor seems to be a young goalscoring midfielder on the Reno U-21 squad.
In my opinion what Simoes is doing is adding many quality midfielders that are also capable of scoring goals example Evan Taylor, Andy Williams and Jermaine Johnson. He also wanted to add experience and depth on the defensive line so he drafted Simon Ford and experienced day in day out professional in the Scotish Premier League. He also recalled Claude Davis after a long layoff which is very interesting.

The defence looks weak - where is Shavar Thomas, Nosworthy and as Tennisman pointed out where is Damian Stewart. We really could use Nosworthy.

Looks like Simoes realize what a lot of the guys on the forum fail to see. We are at best a blue collar team. Thi squad have a few noticeable ommissions, but all in all is close to the best talent that we have availaible to us right now. Nothing fancy, just a workmanlike bunch that will have to scrap if we have any chance of making it to the Hex. Yes, for us to make the Hex will be a lot tougher than actually qualifying.
I predict that if we make the Hex, we will qualify, but if we are to make it that far we will have to upset Honduras away and draw with or lose to mexico by less than 3 goals in the Azteca. It will come down to goal difference for that second spot.
These two results will make up for the dissapointing result that we will have in the office. We will either lose to Hoduras, or draw with Canada at home.
Also, we will need goals to come from unlikely places. I think given an extended run, Ryan Johnson will prove to be our best goalscorer. This yute will prove to be an improved version of Lowe if he is healthy and given a chance to prove himself.
WE DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE A BALL WINNER IN MIDFIELD. I AWAIT THESE NEW CROP OF UB40S TO SEE IF ONE EMERGES, BUT AT THIS POINT, THAT IS ONE OF OUR WEAKER AREAS.
GOODISON if inserted in our starting 11, coupled with Claude Davis' tendency to be out of position, will be exploited at the back.
Seen Nosworthy and the guy does not blow me away, he has a lot to work on especially staying in position. and reading the game.
Bomber should not be discounted, but cannot be expected to be game in game out or even a full 90 mins.
just my 2 cents.

Very good points Scalllawah. I think all teams have established in CONCACAf that playing Jamaica in Jamaica is gonna be tough. Jamaica and Honduras are so alike. I see us getting 4 points on the road. I hope we win all our home matches. That would be a plus for us.

BWOY on paper the defence look suspect and lack of depth especially at left back. I would figure Thomas and Stewart is still in the picture. I cannot find any game footage of Simon Ford so all eyes will be on him I hope he is a left back.

I thought Ryan Johnson is not in the squad; you mssy mean cummins?
Scalla the previous 3 practice matches we have had at the office proves to be that this Jamrock's most experienced talented team to be assembled.
You forget how Phillips and Campbell-Ryce terrorize the other teams with their constant motion and ball handling ability.
We have a mature forward in Fuller and also King; plus quality hungry young guns.
We may not have a controlling type like Tappa, but in the previous matches it did not handicap us. Ryce and Phillips fill the gap.
This is the most experience set of midfielders we have assembled for a long time. I'm convinced that our the depth and experience will drive fear in concacaf.
the starting 11 will be looking over their shoulders realizing that the next man on the bench is just as capable as they are, creating a competitive atmosphere.
The mere fact that Andy Williams wanted to come back so bad, is an indication of the strides we have made organization wise; adding to that there are other talent which did not make the squad which is a sign of depth.
This should be a tight camp and if we over power our Caribbean opponents we will have the Concacaf giants concern.
This group can beat U.S. at the office....

hail Israel.
My reference to Ryan Johnson stems from the fact that I think he will eventually be called back into to fold after a short stint a couple years ago. I saw this dude so far this season and despite no prolific goalscoring form, I think he is our best forward outside of Fuller and King.
Our defence remain a soar point.
We have no established talisman in the middle.
I do not want to sound negative, I want the team to make as much the rest of the ites, but to pretend as if we are concacaf beaters would be very ambitious to say the least.
Beating a full strength Venezuela may be a strecth right now Jakan youth.

I agree in part with your defensive analysis; there are defensive concerns probably more so than the other positions.
Defensive experience and smarts is very crucial especially in tight games. Experience and leadership at the top level is what is lacking.
Tyrone has proven to be reliable and has shown crucial defensive leadership. Leadership in this area usually comes with experience and that's what he has.
Here is what I saw in the last three matches. I saw team defence; we will only be successful as our team defence holds. This I think Simoes should greatly emphasize.
Scalla I have not seen Ryan played, however at this level you cannot emphasize nothing but experience and continuity.
At this level it would be asking to much of a youngster that is not really a dominant player in the league he's. Great potential yes, but Simoes is wise to leave the yougster to get more training and experience where he's at.
Sometimes with talent it's a balancing act; include them too soon and you can delay their development... waiting too long and they get discourage and loose focus.

There are some absences from this squad that was a bit of a shock to me. First, I believe Dane Richards can be just as effective if not better than Jamal Campbell-Ryce. He does not waste time on the ball when going forward and does his part with his defensive responsibilities.
Second, The exclusion of Shavar Thomas and non-inclusion of Nosworthy is puzzling. With all the talk that Nosworthy did about representing Yard what is it that kept him out of this squad? Did he decide that Yard wasn't cutting it because England may be just around the corner? The defenders selected are nothing to write home about IMO so why no Shavar Thomas or Damian Stewart, are they injured or what?
Also, what happen to Khari Stephenson? Again is he injured or not up to standard for coach Simoes? I think with players like Rudy Austin and O'neil Thompson who can play in the defense if needed there should have been a place for Stephenson in this squad.
Anyway it is early times in the campaign so I hope the players that were not selected this time around put in the work necessary to push the other squad members for a spot in future teams.
