The height of racism. It´s bad enough on a football pitch in Spain where we post quickly. But the black Presidential candidate gets this and nothing? You guys slacking or what? So quick to brand Latin America as racist and that the US system has so many checks, so where are they to protect a Senator from blatant racial abuse. You didn´t see that in Guatemala when Menchú ran for President nor in Bolivia where Evo Morales won the presidency. The person who did this deed would be in jail in Guatemala BY LAW!!!

Still quiet eeh? And the quite a few opinions after the article from everyday people think it´s funny or want to buy the Obama monkey shirt. Yet no outrage from the ites. Hmmmm......
Norman, who began selling the shirts in late April, has said they are not meant to be racist. He said he thinks the Illinois senator and the character "look so much alike."
. . .yeah that's not racist at all-he just happens to look like a monkey .
I didn't see this earlier Red. Why are they not coming down harder on this guy? I actually know that place in Marietta as I drive bye sometimes when I visit Atlanta.
Lots of racists are having sleepless nights at the prospect of an Obama presidency.

Just find it odd that an Ashley Cole getting monkey screeching noises from fans in Spain is more important than a guy selling shirts calling a lawmaker and very strong Presidential candidate a monkey. Not that I am condoning the acts in Spain, (and it has nothing to do with Cole being an Arsenal and Chelsea player either) just that one is a big deal and one is kinda quiet. It just made me wonder for a second if racism is more acceptable depending on where it comes from that´s all.
Red, as has been said, I don't think many people know about the Obama story. The stories involving black players in Spain are at very high profile sporting events with tens of thousands of people in attendance and news cameras from all over the world.
I recall seeing a headline saying something about an Obama shirt being offensive a few days ago, but I never read the article. This is the first I have heard of it and I gather that may be true for many others as well.

Obama/Biden 2008 - Because we need people who actually think running the show.
I saw this episode earlier this week. Practices like these are becoming more common place and acceptable in the American society these days. They (white media) made mincemeat out of Rev Wright but despicable things like these are just brushed aside. There was also a recent story that got little attention - The Obama volunteers that came under extreme racist abuse while canvassing OH, PA & IN.
The Obama camp is also downplaying these incidents and maybe rightly so, given the sensitivity of the subject. Any type of racial tension would spell doom for the Obama campaign. The fact is, people tend to get divisive in any type of racial uproar.
RD - I wouldn't go as far as comparing this to the Latin American situation. I am not sure what ties the Clintons have with Puerto Rico but I am quite sure that the majority of them are not voting for Obama simply because of his race.

And you can add South Florida to the mix, the Cubans sure as hell won´t go for him, Cuban-manned voting centers were the ones that didn´t allow blacks to enter in 2000, but it´s still the USA we are talking about with all its checks that Latin America doesn´t have. But I will repeat these kinds of insults were absent from the Guatemalan election when Rigoberta Menchu a Mayan Woman was running for President last year. In 2003 when protesting against the candidacy of a previous dictator, she was publicly racially abused by the ex-dictator´s son-in-law and other family memebers. They are in jail now. Obama on the other hand has to just shut his mouth and take this while taking low blows from the President who wouldn´t even have the decency to denounce the racial rhetoric. First World living!!! Gotta love those human rights.
When I read earlier your comment at the bottom wasn't attached.
. . .I didn't put a comment originally. I think the part I quoted speaks for itself. These tactics are nothing new-just another step in the process. The Clintons and their surrogates have gone about the last few months stressing Obama's blackness from just about every conceivable angle, and now apparently he looks like a monkey.

. . .forget about the President and his inappropriate comments, the first black President and his wife have said time and again in a variety of implicit ways that you can't vote for this ni**er Obama.
I don't think this guy was taking any cues from the Clintons. He is a well known conservative redneck who actually stated that OJ Simpson should have married Hillary...Lol

. . .not saying he did-just putting it in the perspective of the racist campaign so far-none of this should come as a surprise.
The whole thing is ridiculous and I hope the guys business suffers for it. He is taking people (not just black people) for fools with his explanation. He should be tarred and feathered. For some strange reason, I am more ticked off by the guy's explanation rather than the act of selling the shirts.

. . .isn't his administration currently negotiating with 'terrorists' and 'radicals?' Didn't his defense secretary say the other day that negotiations with Iran is necessary?
