Simoes giving everyone a chance over 9 different clubs represented for coast-to-coast. If any these players make the final squad for the friendlies and wcq, they have one month of training with the national coaching staff.

Adrian Reid is injured. If Joel Senior is better than the last time I saw him play with the under 20 I think Simoes will be very impressed with him. With young players like Senior, Woodbine, Cousins and Austin who are the future why bother with GERRY HUE. I guess this should tell everyone especially Ballaproof Simoes have no interest.

Dis yute Kernardo Forbes deserves a look....Simoes watched him at the All-Island KO won by Waterhouse, so let us see if him impresses.
.......Waterhouse lifted the title with goals in either half from Roberto Fletcher and Kenardo Forbes.
Waterhouse grabbed the lead in the 32nd minute when Roberto Fletcher headed past Edsel Scott off a perfectly weighted right-sided cross from Kirk Ramsey.
The men from Drewsland got their clincher in the 89th on a counter attack as Tivoli pressed forward in search of an equaliser to send the game into extra time.
Kenardo Forbes, who had a splendid game in midfield, got a through pass and went on a searing run from near half-line on the left side.
Well-beaten
The 20-year-old, former Bridgeport High Manning Cup winner, bore down on Tivoli captain Kasai Hinds, cut inside the sweeper and buried a right-footer to the back post from 12 yards with goalie Edsel Scott well beaten...........
.......However, Waterhouse broke smartly from one of their attacks and Forbes made no mistake with an attractive finish in front technical director Rene Simoes............

This is a squad of aspiring senior national team players, in regards to US-based invitess Joel Senior is the only legitimate candidate.

In my view Senior would have to get a lot better to be impressive. He is full of energy with good work rate , but I didnt see anything special with the first touch, vision, etc.

Can anyone say whether or not Simoes made contact with Obrien White of UCONN? That youngster should get another look IMO.

In my view Senior would have to get a lot better to be impressive. He is full of energy with good work rate , but I didnt see anything special with the first touch, vision, etc.
Not sure when last you saw him but he will definitely provide the glue for our midfield. Very few players from Jamaica have the ability to effortlessly switch from a defensive mode to offensive like he does. He will also help solve another major flaw in our midfield, the mobility necessary to close down the opposition as they penetrate down our middle. We are always a quick one-two away from being lost because the defending midfielder stops tracking after the "one."
He is not a Hue/Tappa/Andy-type midfield general that earns their keep with longer defence-splitting passes. But, as you know from international ball, that type of player has become a luxury that has to be complemented by a lot of worker bees -- I think Riquelme is the only one of note that has survived at the highest level. Instead, he has the ability to link up with the forwards with quick one-twos that put him in striking distance of the goal in a flash. And, more importantly, if the play breaks down, he starts defending VERY aggressively at the point of loss -- very rare in a Jamaican player.
My only concern is that he doesn't fall into "camp malaise" whereby the more senior players try to impose a certain order of things to ensure their selection. Usually fit players like him get targeted for ridicule in an effort to make sure that they don't show up the lazy star ballers. Presumably, an international coach like Simoes won't let that happen.

Jahjesty,
Many ites regard your opinion strongly on the site. Two questions:
1. Does Senior have the physical size and toughness to close down stronger senior CONCACAF midfielders?
2. Given the situation at Howard Univ., is he or wil he face strong enough competition during the next 6-7 months?

He is involved in a very tough El Salvadorian League right now that is at least parallel to NPL pace. He is the hardest tackling midfielder in the team. I would say he is about Bibi's size but a little shorter and more compact. I have not heard any of the fans (Jamaican or spanish) mention his size.
Let's put it this way, I have been approached by many -- including very good players who I love like my sons -- to endorse them for pro ball and National call-ups. He is my third recommendation and the other 2 were stars in the inaugural MLS season draft.

Strong words.....
I think Simoes will select the following players to join the overseas pros:
Ricardo Cousins Rudolph Austin Donovan Ricketts Sean Sawyers James Thomas
and then two more depending on positional and tactical need. Right now we have a lack of healthy defenders.

I dont like Jamaica's team unless they get new players, one of them is Joel, Joel is the future of the midfield, I dont only say this because i personally know him but if u watch him play u will know what I'm saying, He is much much much much much, almost 100 times better than ricardo cousins and kemar daley, and he is also very humble, we in Maryland soccer circles know this but its up to Jamaica to recognize. He just needs some time with the National program and he will come right around. In the future watching DC United will be more enjoyable if he is in the line up
