Why not? Didn´t they go further in the previous World Cup and Gold Cup while also finishing 3rd in the Central American championship? Compare that with Jamaica slipping out of the World Cup in a previous round and not qualfying for the Gold Cup because of a first round exit as host nation in the Digicel Cup. A few head to head friendly wins don´t outweigh 3 better tournament performances when the chips are down in a 3 year span. And if this includes the Olympics I have more news for you.

Sin Feb 06 they have played 22 matches and won only 6 matches drew 5 and lost 11. I think the only reason they are above us right now is because they beat Mexico(worth a lot of points due to ranking) last october apart from that victory there other victories were against El Salvador (2),Haiti(1), Belize(1) and Nicaragua(1) so its not an impressive record and in time they will no doubt fall below us.
So basically "the strength of the opponent" aspect of the points calculation weighed in their favor from the Mexico match. Plus they were more active than us over the last year

I never said we could not get a kit deal. The captain said that the low ranking affected the deal he was trying to negotiate and I made the case for why it was reasonable to believe him. We can always get a clothes deal – if that is what you call a kit deal. The issue is what kind of deal. Clearly if you are world cup bound you get a better deal than if you are not. If the ranking is any indicator (which in most reasonable people will say it is) Jamaica will probably not make it to the world cup.
Take this analogy: Low SAT scores does not mean you wont go to college but low SAT scores it will limit your choices in schools and the amount(if any) of scholarship offers you get. The reggaeboyz essentially got a pell grant to attend the local college with this Kappa deal – not bad - Kudos to the Kappo for making it happen.

Of those wins the majority are in competitions (UNCAF in El Salvador and Gold Cup in USA) which weigh more and of the many losses the majority are friendlies (all outside Guatemala) which weigh less. The best friendly results a win over Mexico in LA (almost a road game) and a draw on the road at USA, two highly ranked teams which weigh more as well. Jamaica has been less active has had some big beatings from high mid and low ranked teams (England, Iran, Ghana) and has drawn with lower ranked teams in friendlies at home. Having not qualified for Gold Cup also hurts our ranking, cosnidering we are talking about losing a competitive game to St Vincent at home. This is all from what I understand of the ranking system.

It's the inactivity that is the cause of our descending in the ranks...when we begin to play regularly, possibly 2 matches a month over a year period, then our rank will rise extensively.
We are ranked 9th in CONCACAF, so we should not be able to make it to the hex...unfortunately....
the next fifa release date for the rankings is june 4 and we have nothing between then...so we might fall again

personally I don't think that at this point we should really be worried about rankings. Yes it has a lot of negative effects on our team, but there isn't much we can do about it currently.
Instead I hope the team focuses more on providing better results in the matches to come escpecially in the qualifiers, ratings will improve eventually.

The way that FIFA shows how strong the team is is a good method. But the way how they calculate the rankings is very werid. I remember in October we never played any matches and we hopped 20 places. And now since we never played any matches in april they drop us 2 places down

HL always get ketch. It is obvious Boxhill nonperformance at the presidential throne plus not playing regularly is affecting our ranking right now. I would not sweat the ranking since the boyz have some games coming up and the stage is been set to put a strong team on the field, the damage is already done by boyzkill.
As for Guatemala they played agaisnt second string US and Mexican team's. I am sure Jamaica would have won those games. I guess the gold cup appearance had a lot of weighting but it is only before the Boyz rise.
Metro wah you a blame Warner fa?
