good win for us, albeit an 'expected' win. also good to see us score 3 goals in a game.
not sure why some of us are overly excited. maybe it's the amount of goals scored, but without being partial, we never 'drop nuh ball' so to speak
still too many 'individuals' on the field playing way too much 'gallery ball.' not as 'cohesive' as a unit as I would have liked. maybe I wasn't watching properly, but i didn't notice that many combination plays.
In any event, an ugly win better than a pretty loss and hopefully as we play togetehr more we will become a more cohesive unit.
BTW, we need an Andy or a Hue for some creativity. Bibi just doesn't have that 'creative' game. bibi does what he does well playing on the left.
El Salvador as many have said is not exactly a test. Apart from Quintanilla I don´t know who else they have that is worth mentioning. Guatemala is another level and if they play how they have played in recent friendlies with USA (0-0) and Mexico (W 3-2) they will be a test. Jamaica needs to show that a team needs to do more than just little things to beat us and Guatemala played solid unspectacular disciplined ball to beat Mexico and frustrate and nearly beat USA.
I think during the game the commentators said that Honduras beat Guatemala 3 love in Florida. Anyone knows the details of that game? Was it their full strenght team? Is Honduras better than they are?
For sure like Lion said...JA did not fluid at all. I could see a more disciplined team giving us real trouble yesterday.
The match was tuff... di man dem play good..most of dem that is, you still have lazy fuller who don't want to run.. dis youth Rice, need fi test him fi drugs di man run the full 80 minutes him play.. youth a play fi mek sure him deh pon di squad... but i Simoes come back and fuller gwaan play so him a go get lef back pon di bench.
Love how di new Ras Gardener control the midfield.
There is no comparrison between El Salvadorand Guatemala we had really no troublle with a sub par el salvador team truth be told we did not play well as a team there was no consistent play of short pass long pass we were mostly all over the place which is due to the fact that this is truly the first time we have had the "team" together in a while plus new call ups etc.. right now we are not a team we are a group of players doing our thing forming at team does not come over night so i feel like we are on the right track in getting more games and much more regular training camps to work on our passing game once we work that out it will really be back to game on.
isn't this suppm? We just came of a "whirl tour" where every rucks in the world beat us! even Ahmadinejad gave us 8! Got kicked out on the gold cup runnings by St.Vincent, and now ELSV not a good test? shut di fack up!!!
Elsv who kicked us out of qualifying for WC2006?
just shut di fack up! and watch us rebuild this thing one game ata atime.
yeah! watch di ride!

Yuh zeet. When Bora was here they didn't play half as well. Rather see an ugly(which it really wasnt) 3-0 win than an ugly 8-1 loss. Dont tell me bout he didnt get the top players either, he had Gardner, Shelton and Phillips for the Chile match and they didnt play as well as yesterday. Maybe he is not a good motivator.

Score was 1-0 Honduras, it wasn´t exactly a full strength team as Carlos Ruiz was absent as well as a few other attacking options like Sandoval, Mario "Loco" Rodriguez and U23 midfielder Contreras who was on duty for the U23 squad and scored in the win over Costa Rica to put Guatemala in the final round of olympic qualifying. Three players made their international debuts in this game. But the TD was happy with the performance unlike most defeats when we hear rumours that he is going back to Ecuador or to take over with Perú. He seems very pleased with the tactical play.

He did not hae the full squad. Only Fuller and Shelton played in the Chile game. The rest of the team consisted of the local players that bear the brunt of Jamaica's 103 ranking. At that time Phillips was looking like the best of the local players.
Still, this win should not be surprise. As I said before, all we ever needed to do is call the overseas players and play some games, something that Boxhill was not doing. I will give Burrell credit for getting that done. Look, we were able to win the game with little training and without a "real" (certified/experienced) coach. A locals only squad may be ranked 103, but certainly not our full strength squad.
Once this team gets a few more games under its belt and the players get used to each other maybe we will see more cohesion. We have not yet seen the full strength team, IMO, as I think that would include Nosworthy, Davis, King, maybe Stephenson and I still think we need one or two good distributors in the midfield.
This team can be very strong and it can vault back into the 30s...maybe even the 20s if we get to playing as unit.
I did not see the game, but I understand from reading the Stoke site that Fuller often gets frustrated with lack of service from the midfield. Maybe his laziness is related to that. Not an excuse, but I will definitely watch the Guatemala match. Fuller has not had a lot of success scoing for JA.

Well then...that means that we should be looking to play Honduras too. From the sounds of things they are leaps and bounds ahead of us in terms of the tactical organization of the team. That is what we have lacking...which brings us back to usual argument, whether we have a coach (Tappa) who has what it takes to have the players to adopt and keep the shape of a tatical system of play. Until that issue is addressed we have not even started to build a real competitive team yet. Will Simoes return...we've heard rumors of him usuing 3-5-2 with his Brazillian club team.
Just food for thought...what of Johnny Barnes? Is he the dark horse lurking in the shadows. Or is it Simoes hands-down?
mek we a compare Bora's 'experimental' team playing against Iran who was 'fine tuning' their best players for the Asian Cup with a full strength Tappa team playing against 143 ranked El Salvador who are rebuilding.
We start sound like we nuh know ball and just a hype up weself like some paid cheerleaders wid pom pom
As mi say, the win was a good morale booster for the team...... and a smoke screen for the fans

I did not see a lazy Fuller.....I saw a frustrated player (had to do too much from too deep. Had no ball handler to give him the ball in the right position....Also, I believe Fuller and Shelton does not compliment each other...They should not play together unless it is in a 4-3-3 formation

Let Fuller play in right midfield or center midfield and create for Shelton and himself. If Bibi can score two goals in that role, how many goals would Fuller score?
Shaggy, clearly we have the players. The point is that under Boxhill's administration we have been pushing this so called "focus on youths" farce, which has been mostly responsible for the "rucksification" of the team and with much support from the usual suspects on this forum.
There is no doubt that we have reasonably good players to chose from but instead, either by edict or by a desire to impress Boxhill, our coaches have been trying to outrucks each other, it seems. As if, "Who can win with the rucksiest team!" has been the challenge. Downswell went to the U23 tournament with a U20 team, won the digicell cup with slightly rucksified senior team and so CB was tasked or chose to defend the cup with an even rucksier team! Now we have no Olympics or GoldCup tournament to help prepare for the upcoming WCQ games! How does that "help di youts?"
So you are correct in assessing that nothing earth shattering has occurred but with all that has transpired under Boxhill, one has to celebrate a return to common sense!

Ms. P,
Austin played with the 2005 U20 Jamaica that some of us so in Florida. He had a knee injury in 2006 and while he was with Portmore United. He was/is a solid student who studies at Utech.
Cruyff has been saying his name for awhile, not sure what high school he attended. He looked very comfortable, confident and intelligent playing with the professionals last night.
