He is a wing player- faster than fuller, accurate pasting, skillful- not as tricky as fuller and he has a descent shot.

Give him about a month to settle and you will see his worth- overall a good signing.

You should send letters and emails to your management to look at under 20 player Vernon... if you like Fuller in a year or so Vernon could be super star for you guys.

More Demar Phillips Reaction
Monday 03 Sep 2007 13:11:33 by Andy Thorley
No one had heard of him before last Friday but, whisper it quietly, we might have got a decent player in Demar Phillips.

Fresh from news of Ricardo Fuller’s praise for the 23- year-old winger, further reports are beginning to surface of the Jamaican’s abilities.

Whilst it is always dangerous to talk up a player before he has actually played – remember the ill fated “November 1st is D-adason day” before we took delivery of the most hyped striker in our history? It does seem that the general consensus among his countrymen is that Demar might be the real deal.

The national newspaper the Jamaica Gleaner reports that the player – signed from 2005-6 Jamaican champions Waterford – is a talented left footed player, who has played well for his country.

The Gleaner adds that Phillips, although predominantly a winger, can also play left back.

Contributors the Reggaeboz.com website appear convinced that Phillips can make it in England. One says he is a: “A wing player, faster than Fuller, accurate passing, skilful- and he has a decent shot.” While other poster’s speak of his speed and skill.

A note of caution is sounded by one who says that it might take some time for the player to settle down and adjust to the system, but even they say that once he does he will be a big favourite with the fans.

He has played in most of the matches since Sept. 2006, but he has played in all the official A matches.
