It shows Caribbean countries have had some success in this competition historically; as a result, I don't know how to view the Jamaican success now.
I was elated to see Jamaica reach the gold medal game until I discovered that new information, now I am more cautious. Nonetheless, I hope Jamaica bucks the trend (Caribbean point of view) and this success is a forerunner to accomplishments unforeseen in Jamaican football.

. . .that's odd, you were elated about us reaching the final until you saw that Bermuda did 40 years ago?
. . .imagine if they didn't have to leave the country to do so.
True.there has been talk about starting a pro league for the last 5yrs and still nothing...I still think football is a hard sell to the Av Jamaican and thats one of the main reasons why wi still have a semi pro league. The jamaican pulic would buy into anything to do with track & field or Cricket but Football is another story.. because of a certain stigma( football is a holigan sport only holigans follow football) thats been there for yrs when i was growing up and is still there. Anther problem is the loc of certain NPL Teams Tivoli, Arnett Grdns and Waterhouse.
Really sad these yutes dont have a pro program to go home to. if was on this team i'd be working on my Spanish, french and even learn some Dutch. cause u neva where u might get a Contract offer from.

Well, Bermuda has not light up the world of football since. My point is be careful not to put these guys in a future World Cup competition based on this achievement.
India, where football is a distant second to cricket, is beginning a pro-league in September.
With a little teaching the i dem perform miracles. One can only wonder what we would be like with the benefit of an academy
How many more signs and wonders do we need to see to believe?
What more must the father do for us?
God help those who help themselves
. . . IMHO these performances/results emphasize more the problem of what happens to our players after they leave the 'informal academies.' I'm not knocking the benefits of a formal academy but the major problem we have in Jamaica is that generations of talented players are being wasted because there is no local opportunity to advance their profession after they leave school.
