Joel Grant (born 28 August 1987 in Hammersmith) is a English-Jamaican striker who is currently a free agent following his release by Watford.
Grant made his first team debut whilst still a member of Watford's Academy, coming on as a substitute in a League Cup match against Notts County on August 23, 2005. Whilst still an Academy scholar, he has made 9 more appearances for the club, including 3 starts.
In June 2006 Grant earned a call-up to the Jamaica squad to play in the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC Games) taking place in Colombia between 15th and 29th July.
Grant was rewarded with a professional contract by Watford prior to the 2006-2007 season. On 31 August 2006 he joined Aldershot on a four month loan, in order to gain experience. During his time with the Shots, he made 17 league and cup appearances, scoring 3 goals.
On May 22, 2007 Grant was one of four players released by Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd.

I think he is still a free agent. I am extremely disappointed with WD for not including him in the squad for the Pan Am games, even though he was one of the best players on the U20 World Cup squad.

I think because he is a free agent, he needs to stay in England during the preseason to secure another professional contract like most of our other players in England.

Are teams overlooking this Balla since he started playing for Jamaica? He was one of our top u20 players and should be able to get a contract in the UK or Europe?
Found some information, he recently went on trail at League One Luton Town.
Here at VitalWatford, we have to question the logic of Jamaican U20 international Joel Grant, who is currently on trial at arch rivals L*t*n Town.
Sure he is still without a contract after being released by the Glory Hornet Boys at the end of last season but we have to ask him...just how desperate is he???
Grant, who donned the famous yellow shirt 10 times for the first team, scored for Town in their lucky 3-0 win over Hitchin - who, lets face it, just didn't have the heart to humiliate their opposition.
The striker spent last season on loan at Aldershot and scored 3 times for the Recreation Ground outfit.
Kevin Blackwell (yep he of 'lost 3-0 at the Millenium Stadium' fame) is looking at a host of trialists as he tries to find some kind of quality to add to his wafer-thin squad.
Dr Watford says... If I am honest, Joel does have a bit of pace and a good attitude but I could never see him really breaking into the first team after we signed Ashikodi and Hoskins. Will need to learn to get his head up if he is to secure a contract up the M1...well at least he isn't looking to sign for the MK-Dons (heaven forbid)

Joel Grant Signs
Manager Gary Waddock has confirmed that former Watford striker Joel Grant has signed on a non contract basis.
The 20 year old has been training with the first team squad after being released by Watford at the end of last season. Joel has also featured in two reserve team outings this season including Tuesday's home match versus Brighton and Hove Albion.
Joel, who made 14 league appearances scoring three goals in a loan spell at Aldershot between August and December 2006, also represented Jamaica at Under 20 level last season.
Manager Waddock said, "Joel has been training with us and has impressed me. He is a good addition to the squad and another player that we have who possesses quality.
"I am pleased to have him on board and look forward to continue working with him".

I hope Simoes takes a look at our young former u20 forward Joel V. Grant at Aldershot FC in the Nationwide Conference. They are almost assured promotion to League One. Hopefully, he can link up with the squad for some training time in May and June. He played on the 2007 u20 squad with Daley, Thomas, Cousins, a player to grown for the 2008 Digicel Cup.

Simoes should observe Luton Shelton, James Thomas, O'Brian White and Joel V. Grant from now until the end of May, then train them full-time over the summer. I believe all four have same amount of potential at this time but in completely different environments and experiences. But there is no reason all four should not be playing at least in the League Championship next season. Perhaps with some mentoring for Fuller and Burton, they can make the turn.

Crewe Alexandra have snapped up Aldershot's promising winger Joel Grant in a £130,000 deal.
Grant has signed a three-year contract with the League One club, just 12 months after joining Aldershot on a permanent basis from Watford.
He helped the club to promotion back to the Football League and Shots chairman John McGinty admits he could not block the club record sale.
"This is a fantastic deal for the club and for Joel Grant," McGinty told the club's official website.
"We could not stand in his way as it is a great opportunity for him. Joel travelled back from holiday in Jamaica especially to sign the deal.
"We wish Joel every success in his career and thank him for the service that he gave the club."
The Jamaica Under 20 international is Crewe's second signing of the summer following the arrival of young goalkeeper Adam Legzdins from Birmingham City
