Jack, Burrell and other regional football head honchos must decide to put aside pettiness, and so-called national pride and start living in the spirit of cooperation!
A regional football academy is the answer to that.
I have watched with great dismay the dismal performances of both Trinidad and Tobago and the Reggaeboyz throughtout the Hexagonal play.
Jamaica ONLY beat T&T, just as every other team has in this final round of qualification. THe Boyz' goal scoring apathy led to their demise. Not taking care of home field advantage was the undoing!
This is not time for recriminations, and blame, it is a time of reflection for both teams, and most importantly a time for collaboration.
Where do we go from here.
I am heartened by the feel-good attitude that Simoes has brought to T&T football. I really believe we have a team for the future, but will he be given free range in T&T to accomplish his vision? Only time will tell. Already there are rumblings and an air of discontent as many are seeking immediate gratification and game day glory. "We cyar wait, we want it now!" are the crys of those who, like petulant children cannot postpone gratification.
In Jamaica too, there is a feeling of invincibility by the footballing administration. Remonstrations such as: "Go jump in the ocean." and "I is de Captain" smacks of nepotism and frankly, Corruption. There must be openess and accountability.
Granny always said: "what in darkness will come to light." Mr. Burrell, sir, please don't end up like cockroach and have fi scatter when light ah shine. Be frank and open now. Tell the truth if as you say, you have nutten to hide.
Trinidad and Jamaica, long since rivals, like the fabeled Mc Coys and Hatfields...is time to bury the hachet....time for "One love!"
The above views are those of the writer only.
Peace!

I think there have been no comments because some still may believe that Jamaica ALONE can do it and don't need the rest of the Caribbean (WC 1998 success).
The Caribbean definitely needs to look at some regionwide policy with soccer.
I think that is an excellent Idea!! We need more unity, not only in football, but also in a whole range of other things. I think it is ultimately for our benefit. I believe jt mention something like this in another post where simoes is one of the heads managing both TNT and jamaica.

All we need Trinidad for is healthy competition, and that's it. I don't see the point of a regional football academy without a regional football team, which i don't support either.
Furthermore, how could you want to deprive at least 10 caribbean countries their football rights by compressing them to play against the rest of concacaf. That's effectively reducing concacaf by 1\3, and if the regional side don't make it, you automatically wipe out the whole caribbean. You're kidding man.
Let me also answer your response too. Do you see any football academies in south america?
RAWCE HOLE MAN!!!! unnuh jus a get di pitcha or wah? Yu nwoh how long mia seh diss? A full time di Caribbean duh sitten fih dem self but bway it nussuh easy.Jamaica can't even wull dem own muchless Bar,Trin,Ant,Haiti and everybody. The Caribbean should behave like a nation to itself, but we nwoh the limits to our imagination aguess suh.Let's not get too joyful.Delicious food for thought though trini.
Mind yu dwoh, this notion should'nt be limited for just football and cricket. We need it for education, industrialisation, culture, entertainment and finance too.Just imagine we Caribben people coming together as a fwoce. All Bush and him battyman{pawden} breddren dem wudda affi watch out! Weh unnuh seh?
Zouse dih brilliant one to BLOW WOW.Mi bredda, jus cool yaw caw yu no even waah mi stawt.{education - cxc industrialisation - sandals/superclubs culture - bob marley entertainment - fame road party finance - quick cash pardner plan} wid all a dem deh, why we still flock to the U.S. Canada and England for jobs, higher educatiion, opportunities iin the entertainment and business industries on a whole so often{trips per year}in such great abundance? Why is it people from other nations are'nt crowding the Caribbean for such glorious entities?
Is that the reason we are so strongly cohesive, ready to compete with the world at anything?
I opted for a nicer attitude towards you and others like you my friend.I don't desire to change that, but please thhink with your head and don't be so jumpy next time.Seek the Webster and look up the word NATION for your own good.

First things first. The Caribbean countries should have a professional system of football. Whether this took the form of a merged league or whether the best teams from each country entered a knockout competition is not really important. In Europe we have the Champions League and UEFA cups, which works well for us. A European Superleague was proposed but abandoned.
Once the professional system had been set-up, a football academy would be an excellent idea. The participating countries could pool resources in order to afford good quality facilities for the best youths in each country. Not only would this benefit football in the region, but it would also be a boost for international relations.

BTW, virtually every player in the current England squad has come through some football academy or other. It doesn't seem to have done them any harm!
HL
P.S. The merged league or Cup knockout competition would also make financial sense. The Champions league is one of the richest football events in the world, because lots of nations are interested. The television rights alone are worth £millions. Now the Caribbean equivalent would obviously not be so big/rich, but it would certainly earn more revenue than separately run systems. More revenue, more investment, more progress.

This is an excellent idea and inevitable one. The entire world is consolidating such as NAFTA, Europe, Africa and Asia are all creating free trade zone and common currency in order to compete. As I stated in several posts, the caribbean teams are at a huge disadvantage when you take into account the population size, infrastructures, political influences, budgets, scholarships, professional leagues etc... which is why amalgamation is a great idea.
Zouse did you notice that only central american teams were invited to the Copa America? They all work together which is why Jack Warner stated Ja & T&T should also work together during the campaign. Jack is a business man who is very smart and a visionary it's no fluke that he's the VP.
Globalization is the reason why our economy is suffering the inability of our economy to compete with the big boys and football is no different, but if we joint together then we've economic of scale.
Peace
BTW I think we need an additional spot

I thought I was the only one who noticed the developed world have a new word called GLOBALIZATION.
Back in the day Micheal Manley had the same ideas but he wasn't smart enough to create a name for it that would stick.
Nuh worry Zouse,I can sense U R just a bit scared of the unknown.Next time yu bawl BLING BLING, while posing in yu Audi, thats owned by volkswagon and so has the same parts as a skoda(worse than lada, well it used to be)but a skoda cost half the price,in yu iceberg jeans, tommy shirt and nike trainers wid yu gucci perfume and yu american money wid the south african gold dat pass thru belgium, holland,Usa then jamaica and yu a listen to the sports report that every media station has access to because them get it on the web just as we do,and they are telling you the scores of the english leagues of goals scored by pure foreigners and yu switch stations and hear likkle bob marley, just remember if he depended on Jamaica alone he would never be the man he is today.
I dont think we are asking for a West Indian Team, which is what I think U fear. All we want is a caribbean Football academy. Think of it as a University.Everyone attends to gain for themselves but also to contribute to the establishment.
We know it is not easy to create professional leagues but the talent we can churn out of these academies would create more than money.Imports and Ambassadors to top leagues around the world that can learn from the best and give back to us while we learn also can only help develop our football in the caribbean.
In the English league different nationals fight and compete, hug and unite every week. It doesn't stop them from competing on an international level.Thats when U know U R professional.
