Ok i must jump in, personaly i believe he is right in what he is saying , i know for a fact that they , meaning the central americans are underestemating us due to their racism views of us and thats exactly what he is saying , i dont think he is saying that because we are black that we dont know football , he was saying that , that was the perseption of his people about Jamaicans and he wants them to know , that GOD DONT LIKE UGLY or somthing to that effect , meaning they are wrong and if they come to us thinking that they will be hurt by us big time , i thnk this is a warning for his fellow Hondurans more than a disrespect to Jamaicans ,you see the sad truth is that the spanish are europeans and they have left a white spaniosh european mindset in some parts of the caribbean and mostly all of central america, now having said that Jamaica our selves have bin a spanish coloney until the english (europeans) got jelous and wanted what their european btothers had and faught them for our Island home back in the 15th century, fortunately for us the english won the battle for our land , so now we have inherited the language of the most dominant nation on earth and also their doctrins too the fact that cortez or Columbus did not see the natives of this western world as humans caused them to kill them for sport and almost rendered them almost extinct and call them indeans,their entire race was almost wiped out as a result they all now look like the spanish who colonised them way back thus you have the west-indies as we know it today thats why they see them selves better than us because they are dam near europeans now based on the fact that they are almost fully spanish almost losing their entire culture but the English knew better and seperated them and called them Central americans,
Personaly i would have loved it if they continus to underestemate us and think that blacks dont know soccer and so on , because that gives us the edge over them, even though we dont need help to beat them all we have to do is play our game at the best level we know how and we will win , you see the spanish brand of soccer that was imparted to them was an inferior brand to the english brand which was inparted to us however they have had much time to perfect it and work on it where as we only started to incorperate our blackness and pure natural tallent into the game of late so in that sence they may be ahead of us but we are far more superior when it comes to athlethics and every one knows it , who is the fastes man in the world , a black man , who is the best londistance runner , a black man and i could go on and on , who is the greatest soccer player to ever lived , a black man , everyone in the world knows that black people as a whole are natural athletes we dont even have to try sometimes , however what we have in pure talent we lack in togetherness, which is a direct effect of our brain washing from the europeans , however we have a strugle and we shall overcome and thats what makes us dangerous , because we have something to prove , we are on a mission , so that being in mind ... i would take the words of one of our sing and dance reggae artist ..(MEK-DEM GWAAN-TALK , BECAUSE DEM HAVE MOUTH FI TALK )....peace...
I have read the article, and did not found anything wrong with the statement. I sincerely believed that he was saying that Jamaica had some international success in soccer, and still remain humble and focuse in this qualification round. In other word, we are not being complacence despite of past international success, and still doing well in the current qualification round. Inregards to the statement that say not "because they (Jamaica) are black mean that they do not know how to play soccer",I do beleive that he meant that not because Jamaica are a black country mean that they are not good footballers, and at the same token was encouraging his countryman to emulate us.
Our fort-parent migrated to Handuras. So, a large percentage of Handurian population are Jamaican decedant, and have shared a similar culture both in our lifestyle and speaking. Thier is no way Handurian people would think of us that way. This was blown out of popotion.
The only reason why he use the black issue, is because Jamaica does not recognized as a soccer nation despite its success, and conventional wisdom believe that is only Europian good with the sport except for those successful latin countries.
Hello all, I must share my view with all of you. Blacks dont no football, is just as saying caribbean teams really cannot play the modern game.
It could be seen many ways, but there is some truth in his arguments. Not that Blackmen (yardies) do not know how to play at the higest levels, but the quality and structure of plan for the modern game is not there.
A perfect example was Jamaica versus Hunduras in Jamaica. I saw the game in a Hunduran bar, I was treated with much respect as the only Jamaican. There were black Hundurans, and the indian type and other mix. I was introduced to all the VIPS and was treated very well.
The fellow who asked me where I was from was a black Hunduran player , Pavon picture and Jersey was all over the wall, the owners knew him personaly. Hunduras played good football but was unlucky, we played Ugly football but we won. So I think he knows that we know how to play football and win even though it may not be fluid, pretty, and players moving off the ball and into passing lanes on a regular basis. Ball decipline until the attacking you reach the kill zone.
Whatever, there is some truth to some of you guys arguments, some spanish folks look down on black people, it is only in the English speaking Caribbean to my knowledge that blacks no tek bak no chat, and no fraid a nuh bwoy. bottom line is we run tings in s fi wi yard. I cant speak for spanish speaking countries where blacks reside. Even Brasil blacks are treated like dirt.
I lived in the same dorm with some of these guys and they being the direct slave owners children they do tend to believe that they are better. I became there boss, and they were like white men in alabama who were KKK but now had to work for a Jamaican black.
They changed, and were not cool anymore, we now competed for pussy and Donship. They did not even wanted to be as nice as before since I became there boss. Every day they reminded me, you are the Boss, you are the Boss, how did I get to be the Boss ect. It was as if I could not ever have become there Boss. The job was not even much of a big deal, but there was alot of power that came with being the Boss, and they all resented that.
