I read today the the Boyz are finally ending their rocky relationship with kappa. I think its about time, with all the restrictions that kappa put them under it's a wonder they didnt break the relationship earlier. But i have to say i did like the Lanzera design. Hopefully we can get a peak at what Uhlsport has in store for Jamaica and the Boyz. Dont know too much about them but hopefully the can give us a design we can be proud of.
That is solid news from (www.jamaica-gleaner.com) I read it also today & I think that is really good news. I also check out some of the new gear company on their website (www.uhlsport.com). I can't wait to see the new gears..
Greetings, Uhlsport is currently sponsoring 4 clubs in the french 1st division ( Auxerre, Rennes, Bastia and Lyon ). In Italy, they're sponsoring Cagliari and Lazio. Vitesse Arnheim of Holland is also sponored by them, but the Reggae Boyz would, I think, be the first national team with an Uhlsport contract. But in the Gleaner was written that there also were other companies discussing with the JFF. I also read about a Uhlsport photo- shooting, but I don't know if only players or the complete national team was involved. Anyone with more infos...?
Yes...so there web site states...Sponsoring a few individuals in most of the top leagues around europe. But no international squads....I have to admit I was disheartened when I saw that they sponsor Lazio......Too often business comes before morals...And there is always some fool that allows this to go on.....Jamaica have companies that make these football kits...Why doesn't the JFF consider these options?...Doesn't Jamaica need business??....Why do we as Jamaicans always think foreign is best???
I saw the jerseys on uhlsports web site...Nothing too impressive to me..We designed better jerseys while I was at school and that was in the 80's....But I will give them at uhlsport a chance...I just wish the JFF would of took the chance to enhance and help build jamaica for a change.....Has anyone got information on what these kit contracts involve?????

jt it is a very easy question to answer. You are saying give the jamaica the business, but a well as ulhsport supplying the kits they pay the JFF money. Which Jamaican company is going to pay the JFF money, and which jersey makers do we have who have ever produced on such a large scale and so often.
bigUp JT. Especially for the point that the JFF should be looking at a local business to give the honors of providing the jersey. I am sure the deal they will get from uhlsport is nothing like the $100M nike/US/Brazil type deals. All they will get is jerseys and equpiment. If that is the case they should be looking locally, especially in the climate of local textile business moving to mexico to benefit from NAFTA.
Shavar.Maybe we do not know of an establishments that can produce on a large scale bcoz we as Jamaicans dont give Jamaican businesses a chance...Its the same people who make all the name brands and badge them differently....If this was purely a money thing then why din't the Jff approach Nike or Addidas...None of these companies give money for nothing...A local company would of and could of done far better than Kappa..Giving the deal to uhlsport only enhances thier portfolio....No matter how much sponsorship they might pay for...And a more cynical view is that the JFF are only going to waste the monies anyway...Easy Ddread....So anyone know exactly what the deal is???? Shavar??

Come on jt.You know say trendy Jamaican people demand quality when it comes to their garments. Why you think foreign name brand products like nike, adidas, puma etc. so popular in Jamaica? Maybe someone can shed some light on this but I dont think there is a Jamaican sporting goods company able to outfit, all of our teams at all levels as cost effectively, as foreign companies. Adidas,Nike, Puma etc. will not necessarily give Jamaica the best deal considering there are about 40 other teams ranked higher than us.I think this is a good move by The JFF.Uhlsports is a up and coming brand and the styles of the propective kits look very good. The JFF has once again shown their managerial skills by going with a sponsor which can give us more attention since it does not have too many other teams to cater to, unlike adidas etc., so we should be more important to them. I wish more goups in JA were as successful as the JFF. More time.
The thing is Kappa payed the JFF in U.S. dollars. Jamaica will never get the same sponsorship as most large nations.Which Jamaican company can afford to sponsor the reggaeboyz with U.S. dollars and make all these free kits for the team. A Jamaican company is certain to make a loss.
The man dem talking as if it tek millions fi cloth a team that not even playing enuff games in the first place and not even enuff players fi mek up two squad...and besides any sponsor with any deal would already of worked out how he is going to make his monies back....No jamaican have a problem with craven A,Red Stripe,D&G and other jamaican products.....People only go wild over foreign goods bcoz certain people import the foreign mind idea also....Is ther any person on this site who wouldn't buy a Ja jersey bcoz it was made a yard??..And the idea that some may think nike and other brands have superior quality over others should be suppressed and qushed quickly...Nike get fi dem cloth made from the same material the rest use...

JT,I am with you on this issue 100%.An initiative was started some time ago to BUY THINGS JAMAICAN.I honestly don,t know what became of it.We as a people can do anything if we want to, so I don't see why we could not try this out.If we were practising self reliance from the time Manley introduce it upon till now we would have been a Nation much better off than we are now.
Why is everybody finding fault with Uhlsport. We are getting a chance to get new jerseys just let it be. Is not jerseys mek the team a di players dem. Let's worry more about the squad.
Peazy...mi friend and all those who think this is small matters...In fact all the foreign mind people and sympathizers...
Basketball,Baseball,NFL,Soccer,Olympics and other athletics meets, cricket,Motor sport,Golf, etc etc....Are big sports especially how individuals and big firms pump monies into them.
For that reason the agenda is not only sport...Nobody naw give way a whole heap a money fi jus watch sport play....I mean why spend millions when U can just buy a ticket...So we have a situation where some bright spark decide to pay a team for some different kinda modelling.....something for something...wake up my brothers.....Of course we probably all would love for someone to approach and offer to pay your mortgage or rent in exchange for advertising on your house.....But we all know other things are involved....Now for the punchline...The indians are not rich because them give away every opportunity of business to Jack tom and Harry...No one can say what the deal is but already man get glad coz new gears a come......
We have the ability in Jamaica to produce our own things.....Sport has always united our little country....Spend some money in our little country...Create jobs and shit...We cannot keep building other economies....If we can create films in Jamaica, how come we cant mek two jersey....
The last contract promised a lot and came to nothing...Why go thier again...In fact the scenario is exactly as the WC campaign...We made it to one WC then sat down for three years b4 thinking about the next campaign...Now we are rushing and hoping to qualify without injuries to the few quality personnel we have...Now we are rushing to get a contract for gears as if we cant play without it.....We have not even qualified yet...We a go buy wedding ring and dont have nuh bride yet...Some of us are just to lazy and short sighted...Everything we look towards foreign fi do...Then turn round and cuss Jamaica sey dem wutliss....
The REGGAE BOYS DO NOT ONLY REPRESENT FOOTBALL,though some of you may jus be limited to such thought....When France won the World Cup it wasn't jus about football...
For this reason is why we should not be talking about DJ all the time...and all the others who jus need to add to thier CV.
For this reason we should not accept any deal that flies our way
For this reason we should invest in our youths...Give them the same hope created in the world cup finals...The same sense of achievement..The same sense of NATIONAL PRIDE...stop promote the foreign mind thing.
For this reason, proper management is needed for the JFF...J is for Jamaica...Not the elite who think they know best...
Football is a sport, but also big business. We have to stop thinking small if we want to compete....Before France 98,U think certain country would of considered Jamaica for a tournament....But the JFF a B*!?@CLART turn down tournament like them a superstars....Other countries have began to show us respect and look up to us but I fear this may soon be eroded and vanish for good....We must stop get red eye over freeness and money...

Question ? Whey all a unnu come from a chat bout give a jamaican company a try. Not to be negative but get real!!!! All of ya'll talikng bout keeping money in jamaica, please rethink the scenario. I am a true jamaican, but no jamaican company can come up with that sort of sponsorship. The minimum i figure that del is worth is $200,000(usd) per year. all a unnu who a talk, please suggest a jamaican sporting goods company you think could come up with those figures. Anyone ?? Okay then, Sponsorship dosent mean just sending out 25 jerseys. It means brand new jersey and equipment for every game, money for promotions, just having the name on your jersey. I think you guys are thinking just about a New Kit, but this is the full hundred. Uhlsport is a worldwide company and it take a company like that to promote the Jamaican Football Federation. Any Jamaican company udertaking such a task{sponsorship} would be bankrupt after the 1st qaulifying game.
I now notice that we all have ideas that can be made into reality, the fact that we can use this medium to discuss our opinion is real, but the internet was once an idea. So why not have an idea that a Jamaican company will one day produce it's National Football Kit & will profit Jamaica. Nike is making the USA kit & look where Nike started. Let's be real & keep the dream alive (Made in Jamaica) Merry Christmas..
