Shaggy just to join the list of people interested in discussing way that we can organize and be a positive force in making changes in Jamaica. The last update I had from the Dread it was only you,me,him,Dart,JT and maybe a couple more. If we have 10-15 people then I think we would be ready to make the next step.

Peace

Shaggy,
Bwoy, mi know the feeling. The ride from down town to Ft. Lauderdale no easy at all, mi a go give up de wok and move back closer home. I have to travel from Ft. Lauderdale to sunset drive down town off U.S. one everyday star, just to give you an idea of what it is like. If you are living in the grove, then that means you know exactly where I am working at. Peace until later.

yes I, I work at 2600 douglas rd. Us-1 is just south of me, and I know sunset even further to the south west.

That is a hell of a drive every day. I tell you though. Miami nice to have fun in, but I prefer living in fort Lauderdale. It kinda lower key.

Hail ShaggyB,
Bwoy mi get a chance to finally give you the response I wanted to. I think the issue with Haiti as a model is cleared up. It is not the Haiti now, it is the Haiti then while we were ‘abolishing slavery’ and looking to do something. You however brought up some other things that needed to be cleared up.

“Absent, and, usually, in spite of communism you are ALWAYS going to find a rich few attempting to exercise their will over a poor many. There are always going to be those who are greedy who use any means to get more no matter the cost to the country.”??????
The same thing can be said about thieves, there will always be a few who will attempt to steal. We make laws to curb that! We can make laws to deter “a rich few attempting to exercise their will over a poor many”.

“One of Haiti's problems is that it was a black country trying to maintain itself in a white world. Good luck.”

Well, what should they do? keel over and die. Yes they are black, that’s biology, but they NEEDED to “maintain itself in a white world”, they could not change the color of their skin, should they keel over and die? Yes the world might be racist but what should the rest of us do capitulate and suck up? Shaggy, I think you can do better. Don’t tell me that instead of fighting to create a more meaningful reality for the masses our people you would instead stoop to be the obsequious pup?

“Haiti’s only solution is to be self sufficient”. TRUE and the rest of us that are really in the same situation as Haiti can form an economic block because of our common situation. We at least should not join the economic blockade of Haiti that is practiced in the region.

“My point is that sometimes you have to work within the system upon which you are dependent to advance. If you are able to be self-sufficient or independent, then that is another story. Jamaica has too much internal problems to be self-sufficient, among those are the problems which rock Haiti. I know you said do something better. More easily said than done, you must first be self sufficient”.

Sounds spineless mi friend. If you are not self-sufficient you look for neighbours in like situation and form coalitions and if necessary FEDERATIONS in order to survive. No sense so many banana republics in the Caribbean struggling to sell banana when we can come together and create so much more. Haiti is just 100 miles away. The reason I touch the federation issue is that we had it as an option while we were going through the independence thing and the referendum was voted down. I am not on a campaign for a caribbean federation I am just saying that it can be considered.

“Maybe the powers in place need to be replaced. But anything which leads to instability will be a SERIOUS blow to Jamaica. No foreign investment.”
So true. That’s the problem when your sole industry is tourism. Jamaica is simply a playground for our neighbours to the north and from Europe. For the most part when they come to play they simply wish that the natives would just disappear. That’s why when they go they are advised not to go to Kingston, too many of us there. That in itself is problematic because when they do that Kingston does not get to directly share in the benefits of tourism, and so crime increase there. It spreads, and before long crime will engulf the whole island and then what do you do? Send in the US marines?

Some people tickle me the way them reason. They see the problems clearly but instead of facing the viable solutions directly they stick them heads in the sand and hope the problems go away.

You talk about questionable statements you’ve heard all year ? Check this one:
“you have to work within the system upon which you are dependent to advance.”… When yuh a bwoy.
What if Paul Bogle followed your logic? You would still be in chains.

Anyway…
Jah Love
