I was talking to a family from Ethiopia yesterday. The man said that the reason Hailie Sellasie was so popular in Jamaica was because it hadn't rained in Jamaica for 25 years before his visit. He insisted he was right until I bet him 100$ that he was wrong. Infact, he said most Ethiopians believe that. This is impossible, isn't it. I was thinking that the reason this story surfaced was because ethiopians were trying to understand Jamaican love for their king. And drought is a part of their history. Now it seems that Ethiopians have a new love for Sellasie, after years of a military dictatorship, they appreciate his vision.
