Mi haffi laugh, but mi si yuh point. RJ is not a ball carrier. San Jose traded him because they got more productive strikers and he wasn't a very effective winger. However, in his defense, sometimes the 2nd striker/target man need to come back to midfield to fill that hole if the team lacking a good attacking MF, yuh si mi? RJ nah scare nuh defenda by running at them wid di ball so him need fi use di wingers, mek dem push forward and wait fi a cross.
Easier said than done since our winger have been very inconsistent at crossing the ball.

Honestly, only a damn fool wouldn't see the importance of having Ryan Johnson in our starting 11. This guy along with Demar Phillips is our two most hard working players who will give blood on the field for us. What Ryan does, i see nobody else does. Always running into space and thats why he tends to score. He is a good source of inspiration to the team, and if the other players take a leaf out of his book then we will be in Brazil come 2014. Just watch his games closely and u will see just how valuable he is to our program. Him and Demar gets nuff ratings from i man. Would love to see Tappa bring Mattocks into the fold. CONCACAF would a get blinded with pace.
Agree 100% Bublay, too many of our fans are bias about players without taking note of what they bring to the team. I happen to watch the body language of Johnson, Ricketts and Phillips and these players show that they want to represent our country well, No doubt we need players with skills on the field but just a valuable is the heart that they have for playing for JA.
You are definitely not the only one that don't rate Johnson. He has showed me that he's better than I thought he was but he's still way short of being up to the standard of striker we need in our team. Leaving Fuller on the bench and giving him 2 minutes was discraceful imo. Cummings, Shelton, Fuller and when Beckford comes in are all better than Johnson so why the f**k he's in our starting 11 is beyond me. I like his leadership and he's shown me he's not a bad player but we are Jamaica and not bad isn't good enough especially if we have any plans of reaching Brazil

Dem rate him because "him have the right attitude". Right attitude and cant frickin control, dribble or pass, which are football fundamentals, cant help we. I think Shelton and Stewart are better up front. is like dem eediat ya blind and nuh see say we would've created more chances if johnson wasn't so atrocious. as i said, d few times we have some positive play and spread some nice passes as d ball reach him d whole play get sheg cause him do summ'n stupid.

I agree with you that Fuller should have been on earlier but please help me out here. Did you expect Cummings and Beckford to start over Johnson? I thought Cummings was injured and Beckford is um, not ready to play for us for whatever reason. Didn't Shelton actually start? My point is, what sense does it make mentioning the above 3 players, when Johnson did not take any of their spots in the starting line up?
In Jamaica's last 2 competitive tournaments...the DCC and GC...as well as in other high-profile matches...Ryan Johnson has come up BIG for Jamaica.
Goals in the DCC...goals in the GC...or at least the winner against Honduras...and at least 1 goal so far in WC qualifying but
...man no waan im pon di side cause...im clumsy, im caan dribble..im caan pass...im no pretty and skillfull pon di ledda...and whateva other reason di man dem can come up with but
Is still im weh a put di ball inna di back a di net consistently for Jamaica.
Talk about getting your football priorities all wrong !!!
These comments about Ryan Johnson shows that a lot of the forumites no nothing about football. Ryan Johnson as been one of our best players over the two games. He holds the ball up well to allow others to come into the game and defends brilliantly from the front and if he gets the chances he will put them away.He is a managers dream really. We Jamaicans think if the player is not a brucky boo den him no good.

Even the journalist from the jamaica star recognize Ryan Johnson and Demar Phillips as our most important players. Even against Argentina him buss the net. I am no coach or expert by any means but Ryan's game is there for all to see. Ryan gets my nod over the others any day. http://jamaica-star.com/thestar/20120616/sports/sports6.html

What use is skill without an end product ?
Mi love Fuller but its not hard to see why RJ is starting over him in Jamaica's side, despite being far the lesser player in skill and profile...he produces for the country...every time.
Ryan Johnson brings a variety of assets to Jamaica's game as a forward...his scoring, his work-rate, his positioning...and football intelligence...these attributes far outweigh his shortcomings
No one is going to take his starting spot in Jamaica's side anytime soon.
