I'm disappointed at the absence of Jason and JT. I suspect due to the card in his last match, Jt is being allowed time off to play in Houston........I hope.he's played all along the back and in the midfield for club and country combined of late. I see him as a critical utility squad player over the long qualifiers. Jason to me is more skilled at keeping the ball than Austin, and cleaner in the tackle. This means that I now have to pay that Reid gets the start!
You cant be serious Boss!!,as a central midfield player there is no one on our roster as good as Marvin Elliott, power , inteligence, leadership and the will to win. This youth stamina and running power is second to none, and once he is fit will be back in the team for the USA game in September.
All now, fi months, mi a try fi mek Hamilton Isreal see reason when it comes to discussing Rodolph Austin...with no success.
If HI and the Austinites pon dis forum caan see the difference in class, ability and level of football between Marvin Elliott and Rodolph Austin, then wi a waste wi time trying to mek dem see reason.
Rodolph Austin betta dan Marvin Elliott, or even in the same class; please, no mek mi dead fi laugh
Austin is their balla from dem heart...dem no know Elliott, he's seen as a UB40 in some man eyes...and this blinds them to everything else that has to do with the football and the football alone.
I fear that this will be Jamaica's downfall again in this WC campaign...
For the umpteenth time.
U can bring horse a water...but u caan force im to drink.
If Austin was even a half-decent footballer, an English club would have taken him from the backwaters of Norwegian football a long time ago...seeing that his first connection overseas was at Stoke City and other clubs have looked at him since as well.
Last year, Player of the Year in Norway...and no serious interest from even a Championship club ?
I watch Premiereship and Championship football every week during the season....and mi a tell u dis staright up....
Rodolph Austin would struggle badly in even a decent Championship side....his brute force, non-intelligent, non-skillful game would have him picking up cards at a rate faster than a casino dealer deals them out in a poker game.
Ric i like some aspects of Austin's game but he needs to improve is ball distribution and als is reading of the game. He's got to improve a lot to be mentioned in the same breath as Elliott. Marvin Elliott is a premiership class midfielder playing in the Championship and is a youth that i watch probably 20-30 times per season.
At the end of the day...when I said that he would pick up cards left, right and center at a higher level of football, that is exactly what I meant about the weaknesses in his game.
The higher the level, the more important reading the game and not being caught in possession is about...reading the game and playing 3 steps ahead mentally so as to not be committing unnecessary fouls.
The more wily players in the Championship would have a field day with Rodolph Austin...to be honest.
All top footballers must have heart, courage and stamina...those attributes alone are not enough for a good footballer....
Even in Norwegian football, Austin picks up some attrocious cards because of his lack of true football skills...bulldozing and pyhsically bullying players is not playing football...although some of that is always going to be necessary but if that is all you can do ? Pleeasseee...give me a break !
IMO, Austin IS NOT A GOOD FOOTBALLER...period.
He will get his place in the squad and play in the games that he's needed...I give him that...but is he a staple in Jamaica's side...I don't even believe that Tappa sees him that way now...with the better players coming on board.
Where will Austin stand when Marvin Elliott is fit again and Darren Pratley comes into the squad ?
Both far, far better players than he is, who can play that role for Jamaica.
We know that Tappa and the JFF are set in their ways. Austin has not played well for JA for quite a little bit, and he has not grown enough as a player in his time in Norway. Ric is correct to say that if he had improved, even someone such as Tony Pulis, who was his biggest English supporter, would have brought him back to Stoke. Norway's top league is about the level of the mid-range Championship teams, which means that even a club at that level in England might have been curious about Austin.
All that said, JA has not exploited its diasporic connections in trying to build a solid team, and the local favourites such as Xavian Virgo, Carl Brown's old boy, are mediocre at best. But since we have always beaten Guatemala maybe they will be enough to get us through to the Hex, but they certainly will not be good enough for the Hex.
tappa had at least 3 years to find two good midfield players, he fail misarable at that, he did not even try to convert one of our many stricker or even phillips to that position, now WCQ start in two weeks and we are starting with the same problems(austin, morrison, Keamar Daley).when the techical teams of mexico,USA,honduras, costa Rica, and even el salavdor see our midfield they will jump for joy. I only pray Mariappa and Nosworthy can send two long ball from the back that land on one of our strickers feet. Very Disappointed in Tappa and JFF

Some of the players have improve such Watson and Omar. Dada will steadily improve. Hopefully, we will have McAnuff and Elliott for the USA series to provide more experience.
IMO, it is Austin or Morrison but not both on the field at the same time. And please, do not play Austin at right-back.
Daniel Johnson from Aston Villa should be our center midfielder. and what is wrong with JFF for not even sending an invite to Nathan Dyer or Scott Sinclair they are both very good outside wing players. Lloyd Doyley deserved a call Jermaine Taylor (too wild him is like Macka Bush)

If this is true, then hats off to him. But we'll wait and see. As for Hoilett, I have long said that people who know his father have said that the old man is wary of his son playing for JA, if only because of the corrupt and inept JFF. But we will see.

I highly doubt this is true, I'll believe it when I see/hear for myself. Maybe he mentioned them as possibilites on the radio or something.
Hoilett has always pledged to put his club career first and with Blackburn going down I'm sure he will wait until he gets a move this summer to decide his international future.

I think Daniel Johnson should be invited, along with Mattocks so they can be groomed and integrated smoothly but I do not think at 18 years old Johnson is ready to take over the holding mid role, groom and nurture dem properly.

A marauding left-back who likes to use his pace to get forward to support attacks.
Signed from Manchester United after a successful trial, injury prevented Raheem from making an impression in the first part of the 2010-11 season.
Thankfully the second half proved to be a successful one for the defender as he not only cemented his place in the under 18 side, but also went on to appear twice for the Reserves.
A back injury sustained at the beginning of August meant Raheem didn't make his first appearance of the season until January, but has since gone on to make Reserve team appearances and a vital contribution in the FA Youth Cup run culminating in him being given a first team squad number towards the end of the campaign.
