This guy is important to the cause and we need him to be involve 100% both mentally and physically. Experience is on his side and he could be our best bet to guide the new British base players.

King needs to earn the armband.

fyi, British refers to a group of people, last time I checked we had England and Scotland-based Jamaicans which include King, Nosworthy, Claude and the Daleys'.

Reggaeboyz for Jamaicans, see mi!!!

Its not a smart move if you consider what happened last time he was in the squad. The captain needs to be someone that leads by example and though I believe he deserves another chance, I think to give him the arm band after the indiscipline he showed last time he represented us would be stupid.

I agree with Jamatl, he needs to earn it if he wants it.

I think Donovan Rickketts deserves it, he earned it and he looks like that type of motivating figure u need in the squad. He is very familiar to the Jamaican line up as well. Demar Phillips the vice

Captains armband should be given to one of the Jamaican born players. Giving it to one of British born players is adding insult to injury for the Jamaican born players. I bet most of JA born players are already not exactly thrille d with having a large contingent of foriegn born jamaicans in the team. They Will not publicy come out and say it but that feeling is there its human nature. U have Taylor, Shavar Thomas. And Ricketts....if we going to one of the foriegn born players Captain what's next? Playing god save the queen at the beg of games? BS!

"British and Foreighn is that the label's, not Jamaican?, making decision's based on labels is dangerous, King is on fire, who ever is given the captains arm band should be based on merrit, not because your local or over seas, the player that can inspire the team, so all this sect and tribal thing should cease" \:D

King has not earned the captain's armband it should be given to someone with stronger leadership qualities.

Morefire, done with this England born vs local born bs no. Rasta cart. Fortunate to your cause is that non of the UK born Jamaicans are deserving of the band just yet.

A man with a track record of telling players about their mother and cursing the country can't be made captain of the team. While we must forgive, there are still many players in the squad who were there when their country was thoroughly disrespected.

Don't have a problem with a UK born baller being captain if he shows that he is dedicated to the National team and displays the necessary leadership qualities. Still have to watch them carefully to know which ones are waggonist and who committed to the cause.

To be honest I don't think we should give the arm band to any of the UK born players right now. I do think we should give it to the best man for the job but to give it to a player who has just come into the squad would be wrong. I also agree that it would be insulting to the yard born ballas who have given everything to the cause for a long time. We have players in the squad who can do the job, I agree that Demar, Ricketts or Claude would be good choices so we don't need to give the arm band to a player who has just joined the squad. Marlon King is different to Mariappa, Nosworthy and players like them because he has a lot of caps, has done well for us and was involved in the set up for a reasonable amount of time but he was banned for indisciplined behaviour last time he was involved so to bring him back and make him captain straight away wouldn't be right imo. We have good options for the captains role amoung the yard born players so I think we should give it to 1 of them. I'm not trying to give favouritism to the yard born ballas but I think that's the choice that makes sense and the 1 which is fair, Ricketts, Claude or Demar can do the job but I would choice Demar. He always gives 100% , he is disciplined and has been our outstanding performer for a while now so the fact that he's not very vocal on the pitch is not a problem because he leads by example with his play and can inspire the players around him. Just my opinion

Bredren...

U mek it seem like JA is awash in quality local ballas who have covered themselves in glory and are being left out or cut out in favour of equal or inferior ballas from the UK.

The vast majority of Jamaica's team will be the local-born pros playing in MLS and Scandanavia, the local-born veterans playing in the UK...and a smitherin of UK-born players in some key positions...and a smitherin of local-born players, playing in Jamaica.

When you spread the quality of Jamaica's footballers across the board, that is what you have....3/4 of Jamaica's WC squad will be local-born, Jamaican-grown footballers, either way you cut the cake.

When last I checked, the predominantly local-playing squad got the floor wiped with them in recent friendlies against quality opposition and even their own coach, Tappa Whitmore, has admitted that they are simply not good enough, something he doesn't need to tell some of the rest of us.

A local-JA balla waggonists is the same as a UK balla waggonists, all waggonists a waggonists...some a wi just waan see the best Jamaica team on the field, no matta weh dem born or weh dem play.

I have full confidence that Theodore Whitmore will continue to make intelligent decisions when choosing the Captain of the Reggaeboyz for each match.

I won't apologise for calling for the inclusion of foreign born Jamaicans in the squad even if the team flops when crunch time arrives. The squad has come up short against quality opposition so I believe the additions are needed. We have good players but we have been a couple of players short. I believe that with the addition of English born ballas, we should qualify and if we don't it won't be because calling the foreign born players was a mistake but because Tappa couldn't make it work. Tappa needs to make it clear from the start that all the players in the squad are jamaicans regardless of where they were born and that we are all here for the same ting and need to pull in the same direction. If the new additions are welcomed with love and treated the same as everyone else then we will qualify imo
