Best mid in EPL for me is Ya YA Toure. It use to be Steven Gerrad but he's fallen off after injury. Both r best box to box I've seen in EPL.
I think RB meant attacking midfielder, referring to the number of goals Demsey has scored from midfield this year, plus he also plays for a small club like Fulham...its hard to argue with his performances and goals this season.
I felt Ya Ya Toure was on fire before the African Nations Cup but he hasn't been the same player since he's come back...and Carlos Tevez is still the player that makes Man City tick.
Gerrard's injuries are catching up with him now but I'm hoping he still has what it takes to make one more push at the Premiership title next season.
Sheffield united v Stevengage (this saturday at 5.20 uk time on sky sports). This is a big game for 3 reggae boyz for 3 different reasons. Its a big game for Lee Williamson as his sheffield united team try to secure automatic promotion from league 1. Its a equally big game for JJ because his sheffield wednesday team are currently 1 point behing united and if JJ's team win at 3 o'clock then they will be relying on stevenage to get a draw to keep sheffield wednesday 2nd. Finally its a big match for Damion Stewart because his Notts County team are currently 7th in league 1, 2 points and 1 place behind stevenage who occupy the final play off place. This game is huge to 3 reggae boyz and the game will be easy to watch for free online so its a good chance for everyone to see Lee Williamson in action. So much is riding on the result of this game

So true, RB.
Even though Reading are the champions, the match between Birmingham City and Reading is also a big one for Reggaeboyz fans...Marlon King against Jobi McAnuff...Birmingham should be trying to win this one and avoid West Ham in the first-round play-offs.
Huge season for both Sheffield clubs and their Jamaican players...big achievement for both clubs to be back in the Championship, and Notts County as well, if they make it.
For the season that all of Jamaica's players have had, except Fuller and Dada Daley...confidence should be riding sky high if the best of these players should finally make it into Jamaica's squad...even Darren Pratley has been playing well lately to help Bolton avoid relegation, although I think they will still go down.
He's injured right now but he's been one of their stalwarts in recent matches.
The JFF are really looking a gift-horse in the mouth by not using the entire potential of British football at their disposal...a really short-sighted approach, IMO.
Ric you are right. Avoiding West ham in the playof semi final makes the Reading v Birmingham game very important. Birmingham can overcome West ham but the other 3 possible opponents in Blackpool, Middlesboro and Cardiff are much weaker.
I also agree with what you said about the JFF not making the most of the british based players at their disposal. The JFF's approach appears to be changing but I dont understand why some players like Dada who's completely out of form and lacking fitness continue to be selected while others who are better players and in better form continue to be ignored.
I am optimistic but we could be so much better with the inclusion of just a few players so the jff should go the full mile instead of the half mile they are currently going.
Real talk Marklon but we need to come better than that, its 2012 now. Lee williamson's sheffield united team drew 2-2 with stevenage today and they have now dropped to 3rd behing JJ's sheffield wednesday team. Also as a result of stevenages draw, Stewpeas' Notts county team dropped back to 7th with stevenage in 6th. Williamson was extremely quiet in the match today and didn't play well. He was used on the right wing and after seeing him playing in both positions many times, in the middle is definitely his best position. Sheffield united are technically a poor team and I saw why williamson has only had 18 shots all season. He has scored 12 goals but his team don't plat good football which gives him goalscoring chances. If Stewpeas' Notts county team can over take Stevenage next week in the final game of the season, I believe they have a great chance of beating sheffield united in the playoffs.
HI, I have sent him alot of messages telling him about the fans wanting him back in our team for the world cup qualifiers but he hasnt responded, he hasnt even liked anything. Some players have responded with positive answers but Garath McCleary and McAnuff have said nothing. I sent McAnuff another message just now breaking down the situation, telling him how much our fans want him to return and saying thousands of people are waiting for his response so can he please let me know either way. Hopefully we will know soon.
Probably it would peak his interest more if you sent him the conversation you had with Hoilett, about him loving Jamaica.
McCleary has just signed for Reading and will play in the Premier League next year.

Wa, so he'll be playing with McAnuff....nice. At least we'll get to see them both.
I read about that still. McCleary is a much improved player aswell so I think that was a good signing for Reading. He can strike goals from distance and has the ability to twist and turn players.
I dont see Reading getting relegated next season, they have a good enough team already to compete at EPL level and with 3 or 4 signings they will do well imo.
I hope we call McCleary into our squad. Any news about McAnuff yet ?
The last couple of days have been a smack back down to reality for everyone. I watched the U.S against Scotland and they were absolutely unbelievably good, the best I've seen the U.S in years. They played with so much energy on the counter attack that they just looked like they could score whenever they wanted. Scotland may not be the best team in the world but they have improved a lot in the last year and most of their team play in the premier league so they are no joke team. The U.S team were outstanding, better than I've seen them under Jurgenn Klinsmann and their performance was worryingly good. We couldn't beat Panama and though Panama are a decent team and no fools, they are nothing like the task we will face against the USA in the wcq judging by their form in the last game and the new recruits in their line up. The USA were without Dempsey, Ream, Oneyewu and others also. I didn't see the Panama game, apparently we played okay but it was definitely a reality check this weekend. Sorry to sound like a vibe killer but I'm just speaking the truth, we need to up our game massively to reach Brazil. We will make it to the hex imo but once we reach the hex things need to have improved a lot or we will have no chance, simple.
Its difficult to really assess where weare right now with the qualifiers upon which is a joke. The top Concacaf teams are fielding strong teams, performing well and getting properly prepared while we have been fielding under strength 11's which is foolishness.
Honduras are not a good team. they have a couple good players but the rest of the team is average at best. They just lost against New Zealand who we beat recently which illustrates my point, if Tappa does his job, Honduras are there for the taking.
Canada will be better than ever but are a team we should beat.
Costa Rica are a decent team but if Tappa does his job right, we will have a great chance of finishing above them.
Panama just beat us but with a full strength team and Tappa doing his tactical work right, they shouldnt be beating us.
Only Mexico and the U.S are way ahead of everyone else in Concacaf right now but everyone else is there for the taking if Tappa does his job and his job is to select our best 11, use tactics which suit our players and organise the team.
Our preparation has been a joke but today I want to see a full strength team, our best 11 players, sensible tactics, organisation defensively and offensively or I say we start some 70's hippy protest s**t on the forum and on the the JFF'S facebook page. The forum has the power to influence the JFF and if we dont see what we need to today, i'll be with MR yellow in saying that Tappa needs to go.
Last time we waited until it was too late to sack Simoes and we cant afford to do the same again. I'm a optimistic, positive person so im trying to stay with Tappa but tonight needs to be judgment night

I really lost interest in your argument when you called Honduras not a good team... Please remember that others have not been playing their best 11 either. CR is a very professional team with some important players mentally strong.
That JA can compete that is not a question, they can certainly compete with most in CONCACAF but just because Tappa is now going to become a magic tactician (apparently he hasnt been so far or was not showing his tactical smarts for some odd reason)and you get your best 11 on the field JA is going to start beating on everyone, not an objective assessment. Big names or Big market players doesnt necessarily mean good teams

No you got the whole ting wrong. What i'm saying is that if things are done right, this wcq campaign is wide open and we will have a great chance. Ofcourse im not expecting us to beat everyone but only the USA and Mexico are really better than us in terms of the quality of their players so 3rd place is there for the taking if Tappa does his job.
I fully agree that big names and big market players dont necessarily mean good teams but thats why I didnt only mention Tappa picking our best players, I also said he needs to use tactics which are right for our players and organise us defensively and offensively.
Maybe Honduras havent been picking their strongest 11 but to be honest the New Zealand game but they only have 3 players that I would want in our team and those are Hendry Thomas, Maynor Figueroa and Wilson Palacios. The rest of their players are average at best and some are worse than average. All 3 players that I would pick in our team if they were Jamaican are all Defensive minded (2 defensive midfielders and 1 left back), as an attacking force Honduras are poor now so I stand by what I said, if Tappa does all the things I said we can finish above Honduras no doubt.
If you think its accaptable for us to lose against Panama in a wcq match then you are setting the bar very low. I understand that our performances for a long time now havent been good enough but I dont think its acceptable. We are Jamaica, like Rene Simoes once said and our standards and expectations shouyld be higher than where they currently are.
I still say if Tappa does his job, 3rd place is there for the taking. Finishing behind USA and Mexico is understandable. Costa Rica are at a similar level in terms of players to us but I actually think we have a better all round 11 players to chose but finishing behind them would be acceptable but no one other than those 3 in Concacaf are at a level that makes me say finishing behind them should be acccepted.
We need to set the bar higher, we are Jamaica and we cant keep accepting failure after failure, its not good enough imo

Give me one example of a good international football team, anywhere in any of FIFA's confederations, that is not comprised of its nation's best players..regardless of where they were born...name me one team, please.
And we certainly not talking about second/third tier Jamaica, whose best players are second-level at best, similar to the USA, whose players too, are second-level at best...no world-class stars available to either nation....
Tell then, which of these nations can least afford to not go with their very best players and coach them into the very best team possible to achieve the results they are looking for; the truth, neither nation can.
And then tell me, who is doing it right...from who is doing it wrong between Jamaica and the USA were talking about; the very best players who can represent both countries are just about on par...Jamaica can match the USA, on paper, player-for-player in every position except goalkeeper...Tim Howard is a much better goalkeeper than Donovan Ricketts.
The results and record speaks for itself, doesn't it ?
Ric - The comments on the Forum is singing to the choir - how can we as concerned lovers of the game get the message to the JFF. They surely can't be that blind - as usual your comments are on point - we CAN'T win with our second level - WCQ is not the time and place for experimenting with developmental players - lets face it the RSPL players are developmental players. I am so puzzled and frustrated as ton why our BEST 11 is not on the field every time - so I am hoping you and the other generals have some influence to change this situation - so I am hoping everyone on the Forum and in JA football nation will heed your position 'that any good international team must use their best players no matter where they are born' - hi hear that more MoreFire
I watched the 1st half of our game against Panama before my internet data ran out at half time. Our central defence was too slow and we lacked creativity in midfield. Nosworthy and Mariappa are both quicker than Davis and Stewart and both are in the squad but we need midfield players that can create and score goals. We have players that can keep the ball better and create more than our current midfield so why don't we have these players in our squad. We have so much potential as a football nation but the promise will never be fulfilled unless we get our best players on the pitch. I'm tired of accepting less than our best and it needs to stop now. Ric you are absolutely right, everyone else is picking their best players whether born in their country or outside it. We are a small nation but with smart selection and smart recruitment we can compete with anyone. Failing to reach Brazil would be a major failure in my eyes but as a football nation we've become to accepting of poor leadership, poor selection and poor performances, it needs to stop. When Simoes was manager 1st time around, he raised the level of expectation and we need the same again
