The journey has finally begun and I am back! I think this team has promise, got some long awaited answers to some problems we have had for a while. Noseworthy looked in charge in Central defense, he looks a modern day version of Corbett, never missed one header, passes the ball well out of defense and reads the game impeccably, reminds of the big lawyer and him contemporary who periodical try a case or two here. Mariapa looks good too but may have some pace issue. Anyway, refreshing look to our central defense. The center of the link still have some unresolved issues. Have to find a man who can step up earlier in the game to take control, it took us too long to settle in the first half amidst the fire power options we have as strikers. I could work with the suggestion being made for Fuller to be the playmaker, just worried about his durability, him have nuff miles on them surgery filled knees but I think he could do a good job. Rudy Austin looks good again, hopes this form continues, pray somebody stays close to him and ensure he takes his medication. I think we should have Kari Stephenson somewhere in the wings he has been looking good this season. Dane Richards is also looking good, so too the two strikers. I seriously think if we fix a few tiny things we could get there. And please don't dump the renegade, there are some games we will need a striker with his skills.
Really loved the energy I felt from the players, they are very motivated.
Congratulations to the GK, heard he was to get married today, hopefully after tonight all them mystery injuries will disappear.
Jagga and the masses who keep this joint rocking, I look forward to a celebration in RIO when we get there.
Respect!

I just dont see Fuller accepting roll as a converted Attacking/creative mid. Fuller wants to be up top scoring.
M'fire Jam's greatest need is to be able to maintain ball possession in very tight matches. In the first half it was a real scrappy affair for the most part. The team needs composure in tight matches. When Tappa was playing in our midfield we turn to him for stability and leadership. We don't have a player like that today. We have shared responsibility in leading the team, but it's not the best approach.
Phillips seemed to be the one we leaned on the most in tight situations because he doesn't lose the ball. Ricketts will outlet to him and not hardly anyone else. If not Fuller then Phillips deserve to be leading this team from the middle.
No I'm not saying it's going to work, that creative attacking role is not an easy animal to handle. It requires a gifted player to be in that role. Fuller & Phillips are gifted.
In the match against USA in the GCC Bradley & Jones controlled the middle through there sheer work rate and strength, out muscling Rudi & Jason. They are not necessarily skilled. Is there any harder worker on the pitch than Phillips who is also skilled. He would be able to pressure anything coming through our middle and able to handle the ball cleverly when we have it.

You forgetting that Phillips is only 5' 6". Unless you can guarantee that there will be no air balls in the game forgetabout it. Fuller is no central midfielder either. You can't just stick a lifelong striker not named Rooney in midfield and expect it to work.
Man of the Match Rudolph Red Card Austin. Shout out to Hamilton Israel he never stopped believing in the Red Card Machine
How U mean Balla, den kno must....
Man lick post twice and almost kill the keeper with another one...Hahaha whey Ric deh!!!
Love di starting side; mi glad Fuller start on the bench. Him lose the ball too much against Panama and didn't deserve to start.
Too many odd final ball in the Guate box. We need to work on our off the ball movement more in the attacking third; as well Austin or Jason at times could be closer to the play in the attacking third, to support the wide players coming towards the box looking for a pass.
We played well for most of the match. Jason kept his fitness for 90 minutes, thank God. In the first half when Guate was pressuring us in the middle our composure wasn't as strong and confident. We weren't building from the back and Ricketts was punting away. Work to be done there.
Phillips is truly my man of the match, he's such a consistent baller; he was all over the pitch, the man have two lungs, non stop running.
This midfield really work hard today and wear out Guate....
+1
Ha ha ha ! Ric right ya so mi bredren..a watch what a gwaan
Mi done gi Rudi im credit in another post; vastly improved since the GC...part of Rudi's problem is that the coaches...and he himself, did have im big up as the be-all of Jamaica's side.
Wah HI did sey..if im play im natural game and tap try fi do weh im caan do, then we would see a better player..so it turned out last night.
Is di best game mi eva si im play in a Jamaica jersey; has anyone ever seen him play better that this ? I don't think so.
The key is that he played with CONTROL...head over heart, in di matter of di ball...that is what he needs to maintain.
Again...Jamaica will not have such an easy time against the USA...and the rest of the HEX...when we get there.
What is really good to know is that Jamaica has some really top talent to call on still at that time if this group cannot maintain the momentum.
Jamaica will still need a lot more defensive work in the middle of the park to control Jones, Bradley and Edu...and to keep Donovan and Demsey quiet.
This USA side can definitely be beaten...Jamaica just has to BELIEVE.
Respect brethren respect; but watch though ca Pele waiting in the wings fi launch an attack, so watch ur words carefully.
Love how di man big up Rudi, and yes is the best mi see him play, playing within himself leaving the skill stuff up to Jason who had a stellar game as well.
No doubt Ric we won't have such easy time against the USA.
HI you fall fi Ric's grudging praise of Austin. The man just no want look foolish. Him did a praise up Fuller who many said had a subpar game. Anyway Austin move pass him already.
I don't know what di man affi do? 'bout it is the best unnu see him since GC? Di man has always been a 'balla, a no him fault certain man hold bias 'gainst him. Di man win accolades in every tournament he plays...What more is there to prove? It is not like di man a try mek di Brazilian team.
Unnu want a more settled Austin? Give him the responsibility of the captain band.
Fuller played good as him come on him get off a shot him play a wicked one two whe johnson run over the ball ,a miss di flick Fuller was right infront a the goal dem pull him dung inna the 18 plus whole heap a problem inna 20 MINUTES.Still wi skillest baller
Jureidini: A well-executed game plan By Sean Williams
Sunday, June 10, 2012
RESPECTED football analyst Clyde Jureidini said Jamaica's opening CONCACAF World Cup qualifying 2-1 victory over Central American outfit Guatemala in Kingston on Friday night was "a well-executed" game.
Jureidini, the general manager of Harbour View FC, said in a game of two-halves the main objective was achieved, and that was to win the game and gain three crucial points.
1/1
"Firstly this game was about the result, so the main objective was achieved... to win and win comfortably and to win at home to get the campaign started on a positive note," he told the Jamaica Observer after the game.
Share with us now as Jureidini gives an indepth analysis of the game — breaking it down into two main segments. He also recaptures in vivid details play, tactics and individual performances.
FIRST HALF: "Both teams were trying to strike first. In that first stage, it was not entertaining football as both teams played in uncharacteristic mode with a series of long punches trying to get behind the defence and trying to finish.
We saw the Guatemala side playing a brand of football that we have never seen them play — physically oriented, lack of ball possession and artistry and were direct in attack with three men trying to get the ball to Carlos Ruiz, but it never worked. Jamaica were doing a similar thing after the first 12 minutes or so, but the Jamaicans started to get a feel of it, first with Luton Shelton, who started to turn the defenders who were blocking and holding. Himself, Ryan Johnson and Dane Richards started to break down the shackles.
JeVaughn Watson, who was supposed to be the playmaker, was absent for the first 45 minutes. Similarly, Rodolph Austin was struggling to get in the game, while Jason Morrison held the midfield zone and was trying to thread passes, but they weren't continuous or penetrative passes... Lovel Palmer on the right side was trying to get into the game, but he was off-and-on and we were not getting any flow from that flank. On the left, Demar Phillips was coming in and out of the game too, and again there was no fluency on that flank either. And out of nothing from a throw-in, Phillips got the ball, thought of a pass but didn't see any, so he went for a shot which was well struck and the goalkeeper, who thought he had it, got a bad bounce and the ball deceived him and the gate was opened."
SECOND HALF: "The second half started with a bundle of tactical changes, and the most visible were the three tactical changes by Guatemala, and two of those with attacking positions and one from midfield as they were looking to counter; they were looking to get into attack as they put in a second set of support cast around Carlos Ruiz. Immediately after the kick-off while they were thinking of that, the Jamaicans had made a wholesale tactical manouvre with the switching of positions when they went from long balls outside and over to short balls inside, and with three passes, they got into the attacking area... now for the first time we really saw JeVaughn Watson into the attacking playmaker role, and another co-ordination led by Luton Shelton and a tee-up for Ryan Johnson ended with a second conversion. I witnessed for the next 15 to 20 minutes Jamaica were a totally transformed team with the confidence oozing, the different tactics had totally disoriented the Guatemalans... the rotation in the attacking and the possessive third totally dominated Guatemala. I never before saw Luton Shelton played so many delicate passes, movement off the ball, confidence on the ball, and as a playmaker, rather than a finisher. He started to lose his rhythm after 20 minutes of doing that, but as soon as he did, Rodolph Austin stepped up in such a dramatic way to show the form he's in at SK Brann this year and showed why the club played almost US$2 million for him. He had three strikes, one crashed onto the crossbar, another chip freekick onto the cross bar again and a thunderous drive again all from about 20 or 25 yards announced him as the man in the game. The third phase of the game was being dictated by Jamaica as it went to possession and security of tenure... we saw Ricardo Fuller come on and struggled to get into the game, but Tremaine Stewart clicked immediately.

Jamaica managed the game well from that point... until they lost the glory of the game in the lapse in concentration at the end. I think the crowd was going to applaud them as against the 'boos' of the last game, but they were a little silent by the shock of the goal. I think the crowd, the team and the federation would be happy with three points, with a good display. Good start."
whats all this austin praise his passing accuracy is waaaaaaayyyyyy too low, and we say ricketts distribution is bad. austin cannot play a through ball or any kind of long pass. three great shots but that was it. will watch the game again and if i am wrong i'll admit it but from what i saw las nite AUSTIN CYAAAN PASS HIM GI WEH TOO MUCH BAAL!!!!!! KMT
Hamilton Israel...
Our exhalted and beloved Costa Rican bredren will say anything that suits him...same as he accuses me of...an im quick fi cherry pick the titbits out of any comment that will suit his purpose...forget context and overall points being made.
In my comments on Austin I said he had a good game based on playing the way that he can play best...and not trying to be the footballer that he isn't.
The above comments aren't mine...and as you can see, they're not very flattering about your beloved Rudi Austin...
So how come is ongly my views about im dat Pelepappa chose fi elaborate pon ?
Mi give im credit for the game he played against Guatemala..if im did revert to type of games he played at the GC...we wouldn't be able to give him credit, no would we ?
And, as you can see...for some ites, IM STILL A RUX.

Can you imagine how many free kick opportunity Austin and demar would get if he played behind the strikers? Very good analysis of his game.

The only man them cussing bout Austin is the usually man dem.
If Luton Shelton continues to play like he did on Friday (I have my doubts, but hopefully he has finally matured), he is a guaranteed starter. Even if all the other strikers were on form.
Fuller can't play at central midfield. His passing isn't that great and he has a tendency to hold on to the ball a bit too long at times. Furthermore Tappa don't like nuh man in him midfield who not putting in any serious running.
HI you fall fi Ric's grudging praise of Austin. The man just no want look foolish. Him did a praise up Fuller who many said had a subpar game. You no notice is only when he praises Austin that he cautions against stiffer competition? for him Austin will always be under a microscope. Him just a lay in wait for any likkle mishap. Anyway Austin move pass him already.

But hold on a minute...no one quote by Foot Soldier praising Fuller dis ?

That highlights my point Ric. It is only Ric who will look for the minute positive in a player he likes fi big up his performance and look fi the minutest negative in a player's performance he doesn't favor to bash di man's whole game. How many ites are bigging up Fuller's performance and grudgingly praising Austin?
Everyone have their own perspective, but as I told you about Dada you can't big up Fuller while at the same time begrudginly praising Austin with all kind of qualifying statements and claim to a do fair analysis.
That's from this CRican. BTW I won't apologize for being CRican so don't hold your breath expecting one.

You forgetting that Phillips is only 5' 6". Unless you can guarantee that there will be no air balls in the game forgetabout it. Fuller is no central midfielder either. You can't just stick a lifelong striker not named Rooney in midfield and expect it to work.
For a central midfielder or creative player in the middle air balls are not a frequent occurrence AVid, you should know that. Scan over many teams and you'll see attacking/creative players are not tall. A low center of gravity suits a creative player in eluding defenders hence their usual short frame.
Bastian Schweinsteiger the German was once a wide player with very good dribbling skills. he was converted to a holding midfielder, with limited dribbling. Fuller being a lifelong "support" forward I believe have the intelligence to adjust his game, to be an all around central midfielder.
I was pleasantly surprise that Shelton, in the second half showed he has the capacity to adjust his game. Both Fuller & Shelton are so similar in skill set.
When you look at the number of wide players we have that are strong players; Fuller, Shelton, Dane, Phillips, Humphreys, Stevens etc. compared to our weakness in the middle you'd think one of them would be thinking that if they adapt to a more versatile game they may be on the pitch more.
If Shelton continue to show the acumen of a central midfielder in diversifying his game with a midfielders repertoire we'll see more of him in that central role. However Tappa is the one who needs to encourage one of them to focus more on a central role.
Tappa could have fix our problems a while back if he had realize he could have adjusted the game of one of his primary dribblers.
Everything you say here is true HI but you also have to take into account players personalties...strikers are about goals...Shelton and Fuller are strikers....Fuller has more of the skills required in a midfielder than Shelton but will he want to adjust, playing further away from goal ? Shelton will never be a midfielder...period...his vision and passing range is limited for the type of midfielder that Jamaica needs....
You're unto a good thing with Demar but will Tappa give up what he gets from Demar in that left-side attack to have Demar primarily making the play from behind the strikers...its an idea but it has the potential to upset the current balance of the team.
If this was to work, a workable alternative is to have Jobi McAnuff in the side, playing Demar's role as the left sided attacker...and then have Demar playing more centrally, along with Jason Morrison...in the more attacking role...this is exactly where he scored his gaol from against Guatemala...that is what Jamaica would need from Demar, should Tappa consider switching him to the niddle ...a goal threat from central/attacking midfield...which currently, Jamaica does not have.
Jamaica, against the USA, will not be able to open up their game like they did in the second half against Guatemala...the USA are way better at exploiting any space, especially on the flanks if Jamaica's full backs are pushing up too much...than Guatemala would have been.
What Tappa has fixed from the GC match against the USA is that he nows sees he only needs ONE defensive midfielder...Jason Morrison played the central, playmaking role against Guatemala...that is the type of game Dada Daley was expected to develop but sadly..he hasn't, after the promise shown at the GC.
I think he still has a role to play if he can regain his form and confidence...a loan deal to any side...even if he does not earn a transfer...that has him playing competitively again, should still see him in Tappa's plans.
The trith is...if Tappa brings in Hoillett (should he declare for Jamaica) and Pratley for the Hexagon...then Dada'a position with Jamaica's side becomes a precarious one, as Tappa would only be picking him on personal preference and that he will not be able to do, when the real war for qualification for Brazil starts in earnest.
One huge plus for Jamaica now is that we are playing the USA early in the game...these two matches against them should educate Jamaica to what it takes to beat them when it really counts...Jamaica needs to win in Kingston and draw with them in the USA at least but even a defeat in the USA is not disastrous.
Two strong matches against the USA in this round will tell Tappa exactly where Jamaica stands, going nto the HEX.
"Congratulations to The Reggae Boyz! i haven't had a chance to view the game so i can not comment. Some ites on the Forum think that it is wrong to critize Tappa! in the past i have given credit to Tappa and i have also been very critical of him concerning croonieism and the suspending of the two player for the so called un written rule. The biggest room in the house is the one for self improvement, the moment we think we have arrived to the point where we are above criticism then we stop growing. It is time we let go of these labels that divide us UB40,Foreighner, and realise that at the end of the day we are all Jamaicans and the ultimate aim is to develop our Foot ball to the highest standard and to make it to Brazil.
And that is why Tappa has said repeatedly he doesn't call players "English based" or "English born". Him only consider all these players as "Jamaican players".
Everything you say here is true HI but you also have to take into account players personalties...strikers are about goals...Shelton and Fuller are strikers....Fuller has more of the skills required in a midfielder than Shelton but will he want to adjust, playing further away from goal ? Awright Ric on second thought I'll rest the Shelton argument for now until he show us more, if he has it in him to change his game and become a better passer with vision.
Fuller no doubt after playing at such a high level for years should be able to adjust his game. After all it wouldn't be a major adjustment; he already knows how to hold unto the ball and he's skilled. The big difference he'll have to be looking to set up forwards, dictate tempo, show patience on the ball and supporting both wing players etc. It shouldn't be difficult for him but it will take some practices & friendlies for this to work.
Regarding Phillips ur right, I had the same concern about the left side of the attack, how effective will it be without Phillips. I figure when Jobi (he already accept our approach) comes in who operates mainly on the left, would be the perfect relief for Phillips. Either of Jobi or Hoilett is a must for the HEX.
No way on earth can we face the USA and this problem is not solved. Hoilett we ca really plan for, he's waiting for the 3rd game I think to make up his mind, hoping either of JAM or CAN will show whether or not they're going to the HEX. We ca wait on that we need to solve our creative middle before September.
Dada's situation is a precarious one as you say if Pratley, Jobi or Hoilett comes in, he's in desperate need of regular club ball.
