did yall also notice dat ricketts came charging off his line even though the attackin panamanian was covered by atleast one defender and was being pushed wide?
Yes, but the goal was actually caused by a blunder by the defence. There is no reason for Stew Peas to be doing a diving header at that ball, it left him out of position and out of play with his man still standing. He should more composed with his experience.
I support JRay reasoning. This was a practice game in Central America being watched very closely by all interested parties especially Guatemala. Why would you show your hand? Anyway, we probably achieved what we wanted to going in, IMO.
The entire backline is bench/practice material. The diving header which caused the 1st goal was conner league quality. Central Defenders as a rule do not get beaten in midfield, period. Defenders dont jump and head backways in penalty box with no close pressure (#12), thats called erratic! and not being aware. Yes, the Goalkeeper made a poor decision but the major mistake was in midfield.
I am not concerned about the performance in this game, because this essentially is not the # 1 team either in certain players in critical positions or tactics. I think a better reflection would be those practice scrimmages which we are not privy to and conducted without 'CR spies' looking on.
The squad is comprised of a good second 11 to enable the first team to run the various plays and tactics all day long.
That being said, I still dont rate the Gamma Rays. I am hoping Tappa has full control and this is his "team".
Remember Fanatics practice game is a whole different ball game.

When will this mytical A team show up. I just keep hearing this argument over and over. Besides most big side play their A team in friendlies specially when dem trying to mek final adjustment before the real game. Wat value of friendly if unnu hafi big man pon di pitch. If you have a good side and good system no need to be so secretive breda. USA played their big man side twice in a week and GUATE and CR played theirs yesterday. PAN didnt play full A team due to injuries and suspensions but gave most of starters a run

What a bunch of drama over a couple of friendly losses. It's funny how friendlies don't really indicate anything but we want to throw in the towel. Remember the 2-0 win over Uruguay where we dominated their A team at the Office? What followed that? Three home games and all of 2 points in qualifying - goodbye Germany 2006! Remember the 2-1 loss to Cuba prior to Gold Cup 2003? What followed that? A comfortable 2-0 win over Guatemala in the Gold Cup and and passage to the next stage. Friendly results are not a basis for anything at all. We must respect Guatemala but even in their friendly win last night I didn't see anything to be scared about. That long high ball strategy probably won't earn them a single shot from inside our area. Galindo #13 a defensive mid who plays in Colombia was a revelation last night in his first start. He was solid tracking back and winning the ball in the defensive third and also dangerous coming forward, his pass was the one that delivered the goal. He worries me a little. But I still expect us to wake up and get the 3 points.
ricketts is crazy,he thinks he is better than what he really is(average at best)he needs to stay in the goal and learn to kick out the back passes. This team need to work harder all over the pitch. We do have everyting we need to qualify its up to the people in charge to do the right thing.

Yu see whey mi a seh R'devil, Guate went out and find a midfield general. They didn't waste time looking in their local leagues to find one, and here we are spending two years looking for one in our local leagues and come up with Grandison who seem not ready for a high intense game.
While at the same we have left a number of highly qualified central midfielders in the EPL & Championship, and have not gone after them. Burrel invited two in Jobi & Hoilett, they have issues to deal with and the JFF stop looking. These people are not serious about equipping the team.
Of all the examples we have of RSPL players going overseas and difficulty faced, the JFF still have the belief than a RSPL players can run our midfield, they are nuts.
PANAMA CITY, Panama – Coach Theodore Whitmore had a message for the Jamaican people last night following their loss to Panama, their second successive loss to the same opposition in just under a week.
“I don’t want them to judge us on practice games. The big thing is the World Cup qualification come June 8 and we have been using the opportunity to look at a number of things including extended playing time for a few players who have been out of competition because we can afford to get it wrong now but cannot afford that on June 8,” said the man who scored Jamaica’s two goals in their only victory, a 2-1 win over Japan in the 1998 France World Cup.
The Reggae Boyz played their final warm up game ahead of their opening Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier on Friday against Guatemala which defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in another international friendly in preparation for their game against Jamaica. Despite the loss Whitmore believed the performance was an improvement on last Sunday’s performance which the Boyz lost 0-1.
“I think it was a better performance than the last game. We made a couple of changes to the lineup likewise Panama. Panama made eight changes but I think the first half was a gutsy performance from us. We were organized, kept our shape, gave up a goal against the run of play and then got back in the game.
“We made some changes in the second half and they worked for 30 minutes and then we lost our discipline but overall I think it was a fair performance from us,” he added.
Jamaica went behind in the 34th minute when the Jamaican defense was caught out by a through pass which gave Blas Perez a march on the defense which was caught square. Donovan Ricketts charged off his line but was powerless to stop the strike as he was lobbed.
Jamaica responded soon after as the outstanding Austin drove through the midfield and passed to Ricardo Fuller on the right of the 18-yard box. Fuller attempted to beat goalkeeper Jaime Pinedo at his near post but fired his shot on the wrong side of the post with Ryan Johnson and Dane Richards waiting in front of goal.
Richards was to benefit from a Panamanian defensive mix up to head past Pinedo and bring the scores level in the 43rd minute to go into half time on level terms.
The second half saw both coaches ringing the changes and Jamaica continued to give as much as they were getting as Austin, Jeavaughn Watson and Rohan Reid worked hard in midfield while Richards and occasionally Phillips troubled he opposition with their pace.
As time wore on the Reggae Boyz gradually lost intensity and gave up another goal in the 76th. Midfielder Armando Cooper split the defense for substitute Luis Renteria to outpace Claude Davis and Damion Stewart to score.
While recognizing that there was still work to be done in getting the team ready for Guatemala, Whitmore said there were no positions that he was worried about. “To be honest with you there is not too much concern with any position.
“We have a lot of players and everyone has a fair chance. We had three major tournaments, the Digicel Cup which we had to prepare a team for, we had the Gold Cup and we prepared a team for that, now we have the World Cup and we are preparing a team for that so we will have our bad days but come tomorrow afternoon it will be back to business to prepare the team to play come June 8,” Whitmore explained.
Whitmore said that heading into the two games against Panama: “Our main objective right now is to get the chemistry of the team. These two games were good tests for us and we have gone through our bad patches now so the coaching staff and the team realize that we have a job at hand to do so we just have to go out there and do it”.
With that understanding the mission of the coaching staff is to concentrate on the focus and commitment of the players ahead of Friday’s encounter.
That central defense that we were told before the NZ game was suppose to be answer get beaten for goals and near goals in every game, both on the ground and in the air. Most of the goals against JA from the NZ game on has come as a result of the central defender getting beat.
Nice cross from Galindo, horrendous or non-existent marking by CR but a fine header by Ruiz. I doubt we will make that kind of mistake on set pieces.
Every set-pieces are near goals against CRica defense. If teams were more aware how bad they mark on set-pieces they will score everytime. I've been saying the goalkeeper is always CRica's man of the match.
Some of the Generals and Tappa have their heads in the sand - when do you put your best team on the pitch and build chemistry? This folly argument that we shouldn't panic makes no sense - chemistry what chemistry you have a bunch of second rate players playing selfish trying to get themselves a contract - you have guys like Fuller who are skilled but so Fukuing self centered not squaring the ball for Dane or Johnson is high school stuff - he did the same selfish thing in the first game when Marlon King had a better shot and was shouting for him to let him take the shot. Ric said it put the best 11 on the pitch NOW - you build chemistry with your main squad - yeah I know it ain't cancer but it might as well be - because the coaches team selection and the bush league play is obviously killing the fan base.
