The politics is a joke. Every other country in the world picks the best players and best team possible. No other country in the world takes our approach. We have so much potential, we can be a force in Concacaf and we have the long term potential to be a force in world football but we need to pick our best players for us to be a force, its simple, pick our best players, f**k politics, just pick our best players.
I have to disagree there, especially in the Caribbean, but these things happen everywhere.
"What is those in Concacaf who qualify all the time reseceip for success?, obviousley there is no situation that 100% flawless!, there was a general in the US. civil war that another general complained to Abram Lincon that he drank too much, Abraham replied " i want to know what he is drinking, because he is winning all his campaighns
If I were a professional player in England right now and the JFF came to me with this 'stand-by' BS, I'd tell them where to stick it right quick..who needs all this bs just to represent Jamaica ?
Some ites try fi intimidate other ites from voicing concern about what kind of commitment JA can expect from the foreign born players. Then one of the most vocal ite on the subject, who happens not to be born abroad, let loose with a statement like "...who needs all this bs JUST to represent Jamaica..." Very poor choice of words, and even worse it reflects the kind of attitude many critics are projecting on the foreign-born and foreign-based players.
No matter what the situation, cuss the JFF all you want, but Jamaica and its people are not JUST. Such a player should not even be talking about JA as if it is some foreign entity he is lending his services. I bet you Ric wouldn't envision a born Jacan making that statement, which in a perverse way he is admitting that there exist a difference in thinking between a born Jacan and a foreign born Jacan, mi a talk on average here.
Even if you can't get pass the JFF's bs to wear the uniform it should be a wrenching decision; if you are really patriotic, committed and loyal to JA that is.
People who don't live in cloud nine know that the "stand-by" bs is the least of what a player has to go through to represent JA or most countries in CONCACAF. During qualifiers many opportunities will be present for a player to ask himself wtf am I doing here and why am I risking my career JUST for [insert country]. I could list the many situations for a player to get to that place, but I've done so already in many other posts. I read about a new one in the recent El Salvador - USA game for the Olympic berth. 2 USA players claimed they were bitten by Salvador players. Coincidentally, the USA were eliminated. I guess the USA have too much quality to stoop to biting back or they were just too taking aback by a man willing to bite them in a football game. This is the CONCACAF mi know, so man can keep talking 'bout quality all them want; the players better be willing fi grind and bleed pon the field and even risk their career. Will a player do that JUST for [insert country]? I would have my doubts.
With all due respect what matters is form and fitness.
If Keammar is playing one League One reserve match every two months while Senior is getting regular 90+ minutes every 3 days in the RSPL and doing well in the friendly internationals, Senior has earned the spot.
Just because a player is getting a bigger paycheck and sitting the bench in a higher league does that mean is better.
FORM and FITNESS matter, PRIME example Shavar Thomas.
I agree completely, the three games he played for the nation plus other games i have seen him in proves that he has quality, the man can work the midfield well and he doesn't make alot of mistakes, cant remember him making any. I would be really delighted to have in the squad coming off the bench for a big match though. His is definetly on better form than K. Daley right now i want to see both of them in the squad though.

Pelepapa,
You need fi update youself, most of CR core are foreign based now. The CR domestic league is good and I have been to a few Alajuela and Saprissa matches in San Jose but the CR core players are now foreign-based.

Since 2010 the core of the Ticos have been foreign-based and yes, most of them were developed locally in CR.
That's why mi no expect dem fi go noweh. You haven't been listening to me? Especially since they have to go up against El Salvador in the first round. They have a better chance in the Hex, if they get there, playing against other teams with equal number of foreign players; then it is quality against quality.

Fuller is one if not our most creative players and IMO, King is our best finisher but the key for Tappa and the management staff is getting these two and the rest the squad to play and get along as a TEAM.
Both players NEED to feel they are the BIG MAN on the squad else dem start up wid dem rudebwoy style.
Marlon King Rudebwoy style = find di bottle and box up any man who come tess and den cuss off any boss who try discipline mi.
Ricardo Fuller Rudebwoy style = mi deh pon mi cellphone 24x7, during team meeting and training, mi a go late or miss training fi personal business and if any boss try discipline mi, find di informer bwoy and box im inna mouth.
NEXT in LINE wid di rudebwoy style: Luton Shelton
SOLVE/CONTROL the above issue and the rest of CONCACAF is in big trouble.
I would like to see some structural changes in CRica football that reaching the hex might only serve to cover-up & postpone. Therefore I am of 2 minds.
With all due respect what matters is form and fitness.

JMTL, Joel Senor is playing in a semi-pro league. Joel senor and the R'Boyz was playing a local Cuban side. He has not played with our starters in a serious friendly. It is harder for a midfielder than a defender to adjust to midfield play at this level.
If Keamar is not in form there's Marcus Bean who's already in the pool, playing good football in league 1; and a host of other midfielders playing in Championship. We are not that desperate to have inexperience midfielders on our WCQ squad.
We tried that with Eric Vernan & Richard Edwards and it did not work.

BINGO. A very shallow way to select our team but that is a fact.
Jagga,
Let me take it a bit further....there will ALWAYS be two players from MoBay, two players from Portmore United and two players from Tivoli Gardens in the squad REGARDLESS of form or team needs.
So realistically, out of 23 man training squad, Tappa and staff only have 17 players to select!!!!!

You up to u old games again but wi onto u now...u pick out the one sentence out of an entire post that you can use to discredit the gist of the entire comment...and back-up u ownna prejudice against foreign-based players for either your own side, Costa Rica or Jamaica.
My use of the word 'just' was ill-advised and mi accept your point there but...
the entire gist of my comments was that if JA's foreign-based contingent have to jump through hoops to represent Jamaica, that the local players don't then what would not justify the foreigners from saying 'why bother' and we talking bout JFF-created hoops now, such as the suggested 'reserve list' business, which we know is not a practical idea anyway.
The foreign-based players already have the issues of extra travel for camps and matches, culture changes and some levels of local resentment to deal with...
At the end of the day, if a football squad does not become one family, regardless of where the man dem live and play their club football, the chances of success are very slim...for either Costa Rica or Jamaica.

True Ric, without unity, you cant build a successful team. Everyone needs to be in the same corner fighting for the cause together or it doesnt matter how good your players are, you will achieve nothing.
TW2345, I said that no other country in the world chooses not to pick their best players because of politics and that isnt true. You said about it happening everywhere, those cases are rare outside the caribbean but it does actually happen. When you said especially in the west indies that is definitely true.
Trinidad, Barbados and Grenada have all suffered recently as a result of their federations not selecting their best players. Around the world I dont see many federations being so unprofessional and ignorant though. Mali had some success and rose as high as 35 in the world a few years ago with the inclusion of foreign born players like Frederick Kanoute, Jimmy Kebe and others but they didnt select those players and they have achieved nothing as a result so some nations have matched our foolishness but not many. Mali realised and called the foreign born players back into the squad and finished 3rd at the Africa cup of nations this year.
In fact, the small caribbean nations are putting us to shame in terms of using their best players and making the most of what they have. Montseratt have recruited English born players and have used them recently, to no effect but they tried and look at Antigua, without the foreign born players they would not be where they are now.
We could learn alot from those small countries who are trying to think big, if we do the same, anything is possible. We need to start thinking big, stop looking at being kings of the caribbean as success, for Montseratt that is success, for us reaching the world cup and reaching the Gold cup Semi final or final is success.
"Does our National Track and Field lack money?, sure money is crucial, administration and personel managment is critical, it was'nt just money that got us to 98"
Pelepapa, you said that CR have most of the squad playing abroad and thats why you dont expect success. I think having quality players against poor quality teams would make you the favourites, maybe El salvador will give everything to win but quality usually wins matches so can you explain your thinking ? I dont understand.
