You bought into this school boy football nonsense too JMTL?

You haven't learned anything about football from years of watching it? A little yute score a goal and all of a sudden him ready fi big time football. To Play against seasoned, well travelled, experience players playing top flight football in top leagues around the world.

You a real joker..... you should be licking out against this over hyping and bring reality into the mix, and you dedeh a jump and a lick your head like TVJ Commentator....

If them going to give J James a pass, then Mattocks should bawl foul and say he's the one deserving of that chance.

I agree Hamilton this school boy nonsense is lame its a senior team not no under age league jamaica is the only country i see with so many high school ballas in a senior team we need to look at high class professionals.....

So what should the JFF do for games outside of FIFA match dates when the "high class professionals" are UNAVAILABLE?

Errol Stevens has confirmed a call up to this Game. I view Errol More on the fringe. But it is still good to see what he can do. On his debut he played right wing, lets see how he does in his normal striking position

JMTL, we're not arguing against this local call up for non FIFA match dates, i'm for it and I don't care who they invite, whether school Boy or the RSPL.

However the talk from Tappa about bringing some of these semipros to KIWI and who they can select for qualifiers is what struck a nerve with us. But J-Yute assured us this is kind a the last straw...we'll see

True, I man new to the forum scene and might not be up to speed on everything. When mi ask when Hoilett will be added to the mix, I mean the JFF should be a little more aggressive and try to beat Canada to the punch. Now a di time fi start bringing the new players in to see how dem fit inna the system.

Yow, unnu affi memba seh nuff a dem big stars in Europe got their first opportunities at the same ages of some of our "schoolboys". Only ting is dem come up through the academy systems run by nuff a di big clubs. Fi wi yute dem have just as much potential inna dem late teens. Dem just need di exposure of competing against world class ballas, preferably by being recognized and signed by a top notch club. One luv.

Now we know who to blame next time when a player didn't get their paperwork together in time, or their managers refuse to release them. Image, we are just giving players last minute call, overnight....suh ah nuh lie Marcus Bean ah lie seh him nuh hear from the JFF....Lack of communication, vision and preparation destroying us badly

I guarantee that 99% of the foreign club managers do NOT want their players to make this trip to New Zealand for a mid-week friendly. So you will hear all the BS excuses from the JFF, New Zealand Soccer Federation and the foreign clubs.

1. They never received the fax
2. They picked up a slight "knock"
3. They lost/misplaced their passport
4. They received the message with less than 10 days notice
5. It was not translate in the local language (Swedish,Norwegian, Vietnamese, etc..)

Green card stifles Gleeson, Basalaj gets All Whites call-up

February 23, 2012

AUCKLAND – Green Card issues have stalled goalkeeper Jake Gleeson’s All Whites career forcing him to withdraw from Wednesday’s ASB Summer International against Jamaica, with Scott Basalaj called up to replace him as Mark Paston’s back up.

Gleeson, 21, is applying for a permanent residence in the United States where he plays for Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers, but the process has taken longer than expected grounding the one cap international and his passport until the procedure is completed.

Basalaj, currently in Melbourne with the New Zealand Olympic squad ahead of a second clash against the Saudi Arabia national team impressed at last year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico and earned a call up for the U-20 event in Colombia. He was linked to a move to Glasgow Rangers before the club’s well-documented financial difficulties.

All Whites coach Ricki Herbert said it was a big opportunity for the 17-year-old Team Wellington gloveman.

“Scott did very well for the under 17s and attracted the interest of overseas clubs in the process. He’s trained with the Phoenix on occasion and done very well, he’s got a bright future and I’m sure he’ll do well with Mark and goalkeeping coach Clint Gosling.”

“Jake will be disappointed to miss an opportunity to push his claims but it means another talented youngster gets to step into the environment and potentially get a taste of international football.”

Soccer: Nelsen confirmed for Jamaica clash
12:20 PM
Thursday Feb 23, 2012

Ryan Nelsen. Photo / Brett Phibbs

In between Arsenal away and Manchester United at home, All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen will fly to New Zealand to lead his country against Jamaica. New Zealand Football chief executive Grant McKavanagh spoke to the Tottenham defender overnight and confirmed his availability for the fixture at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland on Wednesday night.

"It shows just how committed Ryan is to representing New Zealand,'' McKavanagh said. "It's a heck of a trip, and we wanted to make sure given his recent run of injury that he was 100 per cent fit and prepared for game.''

Nelsen's whirlwind trip will see him depart for New Zealand after Monday morning's (NZT) North London derby between Spurs and Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, arriving in time for the captain's run on Tuesday evening. He will then fly out immediately after the game to return in time for Tottenham's clash against Manchester United, the club directly above them on the Premier League table, at White Hart Lane the following Monday.

Because the international, the All Whites' last before they begin their World Cup qualifying campaign, is inside a Fifa window Spurs were obliged to release Nelsen for the match, but McKavanagh preferred a communicative approach.

"Given he has just signed for one of the biggest clubs in England and is trying to cement a spot, we wanted to give him time to personally discuss it with his manager rather than just wave the rule book at his employers.''

Nelsen signed for Tottenham, currently third place in the English Premier League, from Blackburn Rovers on the last day of the transfer window in January. He made his debut after coming off the bench during Spurs' 5-0 win over Newcastle earlier in the month, before starting and keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Stevenage in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The draw against the League One outfit was a disappointing result and sees Spurs forced into a replay at White Hart Lane to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition, but Nelsen did impress.

"I thought Ryan was fantastic,'' Tottenham captain Michael Dawson told the club's website. "We changed the formation a little, played myself, Younes [Kaboul] and Ryan [at the back]. He played in the middle and he was outstanding. He won everything in the air, was strong and played really well. He showed all his experience in what was a real test for us against a big, physical team.''

The replay will be played on March 8 (NZT), three days after Tottenham's match against Machester United, ensuring a hectic 10 days for the All Whites captain.

The kid should go if not for the experience, but NOT ONE of these guys should go!! I am so surprised and appaled not to see Joel Senior int he squad. What else is he to do?? Is it because DADA is going to be there? I would hope not! As of now DADA not playing regularly, is he that much better than Senior? Rohan reid deserves a spot if you ask me too. Held that Central Mid so well with distributing and defending. Calm on the ball and never lost it. Check the commentary, lets hope we see these players in the next game with Costa Rica.

That is opening a can of worm again, as that should be space for a few UK ites to be in the upcoming games, and see how they work or gel with the greater team.

It is a blunder! Richard Edwards is nowhere in the team. They were trying to create a spot for him I suppose??? Hue deserves another 30mins of time in this team as he is doing what he ought to! He was running back in defense, something out of his element. Reward the man for hard work. Boyd missed two blatant chances from JeVaughn and Hue. Hue shot that popped out from the keeper should have been pounced on by him as the forward at that time and tame shots to goal or wide or over. WHY?!! Tramaine Steward just did those same thing also in the last match. Keep Dino Williams for always running and shooting at goal. Keeper was very good tonight.

Romeo Parkes is a good option and needs more time on the field so he's justified. Again Rohan reid will put pressure on the current crop of central midfielders we have. Xavian Virgo is deserving of his spot.
