I recall a few months ago there was a big hub hub about this guy....forward the last 4 days I decided to watch the two US friendlies (now watching Panama). Whats the big deal about this guy? From these two games he appears to be nothing more than the average MLS type. What was the hype all about? Did i miss something and he is just going through a bad stretch (I do not really watch MLS)? Educate me, please. Anyone else saw the last two games, am I being too harsh?

I could package my own highlights in a youtube clip and look like a world beater too you know. Did you see the last two games? How do you reconcile the two most recent performance against the you tube clips? Not that slicing through MLS defense is any great feat...

Did you not read where i said that he has not done much for the National team as yet. It looks like the sole purpose of your message is to bash MLS. His MLS performance is the reason people have rated him. I showed you a couple highlights.

My sole purpose is to bash MLS?....nah they not that important to me . Seriously though, I was looking for more insight into the guy's performance than some less than 5 minute highlight posted on you tube. Is his current run just a bad patch? After the Ven game I thought it was a one off and did not comment as everyone will have a bad game here and there, but last night was even worse. So I was hoping that one of his fanboyz on here saw both games and would set me straight rather than me putting any great degree of reliability on the hyperbole being posted on pigsoccer by a bunch of 13 year olds. Afterall the folks on here are more better football minds, no? I suspect some sort of injury (would be stupid to play and risk making it worse) or maybe he is being played out of position (doubt it) could be at the heart of the crap performance...thats the kind of stuff I was looking for, not some you tube clip, but real football insight.

Don't worry too much about Brek Shea. Brek Shea will do fine, thank you.
Worry about this:
A 10 man out of season MLS US men's team beat a in the middle of their season Panamanian team that will beat the Reggae Boyz any day from Sunday to Saturday.

OK jray, here you go, MLS sucks, USA soccer sucks, they are rubbish. Why watch that shit? Waste of time! Such crap.
Is that what you are looking for? It seems all your post on US soccer is about proving how rubbish they are. Just my observation boss, that is the way you come across.
He simply a young man who has received a few National team caps and hasn't done anything as yet when in the big man team. He started at center back in MLS where he played well and moved to midfield because of injuries where he became an MVP candidate. He has strong technical skills and is still developing his game.
Running through an MLS defense isn't as easy as you claim. Flops like Freddie Ljunberg, Rafa Marquez ,Alvaro Fernandez, Nerry Castillo have found out the hard way that it isn't that easy to slice through an MLS defense. Shea is developing and may not make the transition to the National team despite the hype. One has to look no further than Jermaine Johnson. Hype after mashing up some of England's top defenders in his debut and career of disappointment.
I agree with jray...if the same MLS quality was located in a league anywhere else in the world besides America it and its players wouldn't get half the attention they do.
There are several college teams that would easily win the Jamaican Premier League.
Hey guess what, Panama will beat out the Reggae Boyz for the fourth place CONCACAF world cup spot.....
No one mentioned the Jamaican league or the Reggae Boyz. That's not to say MLS doesn't have its uses, as JeVaughn Watson said, it is a good transition league.

sheesh....
So in summary, none of you watched any of the two friendlies and therefore cannot commnet on Brek Shea's current form or performance in the games. Football fans I see....carry On...

Hmmmm, no...but I could give a rats basckside how it comes across especially since my question was never about MLS in the first place.

I am not here to debate MLS, Freddie at 19 would not even consider MLS...so lets get back on topic.
So, if I am to go by your analysis, he was played out of position the last two games...ok thank you for the info.
The article below gave a better insight as to his performance last night...

Ok jray, In my honest opinion, from what I have seen, which admittedly is not much, Brek Shea is a decent player who could help a Championship side struggling to avoid relegation to league one in the English leagues.
However, and I know you will say you don't care, my observation is that you made the post to belittle US soccer and the MLS based on your previous posts regarding those topics. I could be wrong, and as you stated, you don't care, but I am just commenting on what I feel is true.

Then you need to re-read my original post and lose hold of your preconceived notions. If I wanted to bash the US, I would come straight out and do so – mi nuh fraid fi talk di truth. Frankly it was hard to get much out of either games. US used a lot of players that will never make their final roster and there were guys I never heard of (again, I don’t watch MLS).
If you saw the game, perhaps you would have come away with the same thought… this guy, Shea, is being scouted by the top clubs in the world? How come…he was that awful. Since I don’t watch MLS, there is not much for me to compare him to. US has some descent players, however, when we are told that they have suddenly find the next Pele in US and some fanboyz on this site get all excited…well you know. Its ironic how one of the really good players for the US – Charlie Davies (pre crash) just never got the hype that some others got --- holy crap, I just rated a US player.

It's a human trait to use previous experiences to form ideas and preconceived notions about individuals. I will admit my ignorance of the MLS as well because I watch only a few games where Jamaicans are involved. I re-read your original post and to answer the question, i don't get the hype either , but I do remember him getting scouted by Arsenal, If I remember correctly, I was the one that posted the article saying as much. The reason these guys get the hype is becasue MLS is a great organization at promoting the US players, I believe that is one of the goals of the MLS, to promote US soccer and their league.
Charlie Davis never got that hype because I don't think he played in the MLS pre crash. He went straight to Europe.

You sound just like me in this post. You should check out what they are saying on the US sites (bigsoccer)...wish the guy luck anyways and hope he gets over this little rut quickly.
