Tappa has recieved alot of criticism in recent times and i have been fully backing the criticism but he is a young manager and has shown signs of learning. At the gold cup we were looking good against rubbish teams until we finally played a powerhouse of concacaf football and came up short. the tactics were wrong but since then tappa has introduced the formation we need 4-2-3-1. Give him some credit for recognising the need for this formation to be introduced. However, this formation requires players we do not have. Good fullbacks ( we have no right back ), 2 strong defensive midfield players ( we have that i feel ), a striker with the ability to work alone ( fuller ), 2 penetrating wingers which we have on the roster but they are not being used ) and a player with the ability to make things happen between midfield and attack, a creative spark which we dont have ). The formation is in place now we need some key players to make it work. Danny Simpson (right back for newcastle ), De Guzman ( creative spark for villareal), Nathan Dyer ( penetrating wingers for swansea), David Hoilett ( best young winger in the EPL), lEWIS McGugan ( creative spark for Nottingham Forest), Kelvin Davies ( Powerful cb for Celtic), Jermaine Beckford ( Leicester City striker), Raheem Sterling ( creative spark or winger for Liverpool), Darren Pratley( creative spark or defensive midfielder), Jobi Mcanuff ( best winger in the championship and can be the creative spark in the middle). Get these players into the squad Tappa or as many as you can along with our favourites who are out in the cold at the moment and we will qualify for BRAIL 2014 for sure. Crunch time is fast approaching lets just wait and see if Tappa will continue to disappoint us or make us proud.

Looks like you know your football...these named players, and a few others not named here, would make a miraculous improvement to Jamaica's current side, similar to the improvement the USA's foreign contingent makes to the USA's side.
The only difference in the basic quality of both teams, Jamaica and the USA, is in the recruitment of foreign-born talent.
The USA has a confirmed policy ever since soccer started to be played in the country back in the 1940s to recruit anyone who qualifies, as long as they can play.
Jamaica, on the other hand, seems to have an exclusion policy on players not born in Jamaica.
The results and standing of both teams in world football shows the success or failure of each country's policies and approach.
I did mean kelvin wilson sorry i was writing so many names that my brain malfunctioned lol. I personally dont want players who are not gonna wEAR the shirt with pride but I know from personal experience that being born in England doesnt mean you are not proud to be Jamaican still so I dont want us to just recruit anyone who qualifies but anyoneone who qualifies and will wear the colours with pride is fine by me and im sure there is plenty of them. I agree that we have a different policy on foreign born players and that is stopping us from achieving what everybody on the forum knows we can. Like i said crunch time is fast approaching so i hope the jff dont wait too long to sack Tappa if he dont improve the player pool and bring success in our 2014 wc qualifying campaign because last time we waited 3 games to change the boss and it was too late and if we acted sooner we would have made it to the final phase. I also think if we didnt sack John Barnes we would all be singing to a different tune on this forum right now, BIG MISTAKE.
Shaun cummings ( reading right back and former chelsea youngster) and Nathaniel Clyne ( crystal palace right back ). THESE ARE TWO BAD BOY YOUNG RIGHT BACKS CAN ANY1 FIND OUT IF THEY ARE JAM OR NOT ?
Mexico, USA, Costa Rica look the best right now. Honduras beat us last time so we need to improve because finishing below them in the final stage means missing out. 4th place is the minimum for us so improvement is needed fast.
When we qualified for the world cup, Rene Simeos did an amazing job to get us there but when we got there things were handled wrong. He started calling up players who didnt help with qualification and started bringing them into the squad for the tournament which was wrong. Players like Andy Williams and Walter Boyd didnt play much at the tournament and many more didnt even make it onto the plane which was wrong. We had Danny Maddix training with the suad and he couldnt understand patwa if it slapped his face, he even said that lol. We were worse at the wc than we were in qualifying so we went backwards. Maybe this is why Tappa dont call up many ENGLISH BORN TALENT, because hes still upset about what happened. However we are starting a fresh campaign so whoever comes on board from now will be nothing like the bandwagon jumpers from 98 and Tappa needs to put things in perspective fast or it will cost us.

Good, honest analysis.
The problem is, for who and where the players that Jamaica really needs right now, they will probably not be accessible or available now...unless the JFF sends out an immediate 'emergency call' and see who from England will respond...Danny Simpson would be high on my list at right-back, along with the others you've named...in their respective positions.
There is also the red-tape of acquiring Jamaican passports for the players who will respond who don't have them; in the USA, the USSF applies for these US passports for their foreign-born players, citing specialised skills as the reason for expedited grants, in the aid of national sporting interests.
They are granted US passports almost immediately, so that they can represent the USA immediately.
In the Jamaican system, it seems like these players have to apply for these passports themselves, as if they are begging to play for Jamaica, not Jamaica needing their specialised services in the interest of national sports.
Another factor to consider is Tappa Whitmore's experience as an international coach capable of coaching Jamaica's best and most professional players...he hasn't had many of them in his team in the last two years from which to guage an accurate reading of whether he can coach Jamaica's best team...he has had in his teams, those players that he is confident that he can coach, with mixed results..those results not in his favour up against stronger opposition, as he will face in these up-coming WC qualifiers.
Should Jamaica get through to the HEX, as the 2nd best team in their group, the minimum required will be home wins against all 5 other contenders, if possible but nothing less than home draws against the top 2...away draws against the weaker 3, leaving only the margin of error of an expected away defeat by the top 2.
That is the only realistic expectation for a good chance at the 4th place playoff spot for Jamaica...anything better than this will earn Jamaica that automatic 3rd place spot..because Jamaica will have taken the necessary points off their 3 other contenders for that 3rd place spot...the same is true for the 3rd place spot if they take the necessary points off Jamaica, and the other contenders.
For Jamaica to get 2nd place out of the semi-final group, they MUST beat the USA, Guatemala and Antigua at home and beat Antigua and Guatemala away...and get a draw in the USA.
Jamaica's biggest task right now is to assemble a team good enough to do exactly what I've laid out here...nothing less will do it.
Ric you made good points. The thing you said about Tappa being able to coach our best team could be a problem, because in Jamaica he is a star and has alot of respect for what he did in his playing days. I just wonder how many of the English born talent would have that respect for him and thats a good point because maybe thats why he is reluctant to call upon them.
The Concacaf football region is improving year after year Panama look like they are making strides also but the main concern for us right now is Antigua and Barbuda because they have recruited Myles Weston from Brentford, Dexter Blackstock from Nottingham Forest and a number of other English born players. They have made the most of the options open to them and though we are still alot better than them they will be competitive and if we dont make the most of the recruitment options open to us we could find ourselves making a quick exit from qualification for Brazil 2014 which would be an embarassing disaster
I just read suttom on the forum which said that the English born players havent agreed to play for Antigua and Barbuda. I looked their team up on wikipedia and they are all on their roster on their wiki. I hope that what i read on this forum is true because Antigua AND Barbuda will give us big problems if not
Crunch time is almost here for real. I think we have 2 more friendly dates before WCQ starts. I think that if we dont see quality players introduced and a better performance in the 1st of the next 2 friendly games then the JFF should weald the axe on Tappa because we dont wonna leave it until its too late again and the new manager needs the 2nd friendly to bring in new players and put his ideas across. I say bring back Barnes in that situation. He didnt lose 1 game as our boss and the british born players respect him so much that they will play for us without hesitating. With him as boss I would have no doubt we would make it to BRAZIL 2014

If the JFF (read that as Burrell) had had a long term plan in place to qualify for Brazil 2014, and anything beyond that, they wouldn't have let John Barnes go in the first place.
They simply don't seem to be on the same football page as everyone else and miracles don't win football matches.
YEAH FOR REAL i HEAR THAT RIC. Sacking Barnes in order to make financial cut backs is non sense because success brings money. Qualifying for a world cup brings money and being at a world cup brings sponsors who will be willing to pay big money. After our 98 exploits we signed a 1million pound sponsorship with Kappa. What kind of sponsorship deal are we on now. Pobably a far lesser one coz nobody wants to sponsor a team going no where fast. If Barnes stayed in charge I fully believe we would qualify for 2014 WC and the money we paid Barnes would become small fries. Right now we are paying a load Brazilians who are doing jack s**t for football on the Island.
What does everyone think about Alvas Powell being part of the senior squd for the next 2 friendly dates ? For me he is already better than alot of the midfielders in the senior squad, he is very strong for a yout man and has quality. I say involve him around the squad from now. Im not saying start him but bring him into the fold because he is the future of the national team along with a couple others and it would be good for his development still. Also with the right back problem we have I think he would do a good job there still. We have used Austin there a couple times to no effect because he is too slow but Alvas has pace and strength and running power with the ball aswell as good technique. He is a little young but a wise man once said if youre old enough youre good enough and he is a special young talent in my opinion. I'd put him in the squad for real.
Does anyone know what happened to Garfield reid ? He was a badman of a left back and I aint seen him in the squad for a long time. He was quick, strong and technically sound with a thunder bolt shot but hes on the National team missing list
Omar Holness is another talent and I dont understand why after the performance of the U17 team at the world, not 1 player has been signed by european teams. Holness is another 1 I think should be around the senior squad for the pre-qualifyer friendlies to help his development coz hes another special young talent.
We are all saying that we need to increase the player pool and bring in some new talent, but also an important fact is that many of our players need to get out aswell. 1. Jermaine Taylor ( defender who cant defend). 2. Jevaughn Watson ( has just turned pro so has time to improve but not at the standard we need right now). 3. Ryan Johnson (Just not good enough. watched highlights of us against Argentina 2nd team and he was causing them problems and I thought he was some one to watch. However everytime ive watched him hes been useless. doesnt score goals in MLS so how tappa expects him to do it for us I really dont know. 4. The striker in vietnam 4 song lahm suttom( Aint good enough right now, maybe he'll improve, but sorry not now fam). 5. Rudolph Austin ( Everytime ive seen him for play for us hes looked over aggressive and about as mobile as a football stadium. Brother cant move. Somebody said he was Norway footballer of the year which is an amazing achievement so if that is the case he must have stepped his game up so give him another chance but if hes doing that same non sense again then Rudolph redcard Austin needs to get sacked from JA duty). 6. Khari Stephenson ( Absolutely useless and I never wonna see him in Black, Gold and Green again. I watched him live in Leicester when we played Ghana and if it wasnt for the fact he was wearing a gold shirt I wouldve been sure he was playing for Ghana coz he was just giving them the ball like he was getting paid to do that. Ive watched him playing in Sweden and MLS before and his performances there aint changed my opinion of him,USELESS). 7. Lovel Palmer ( another 1 that can improve, but right now hes not at the level we need him to be, so not now bredrin sorry). If we are serious about qualifying for BRAZIL 2014 then the man above have to go bar Rudy who id give another chance but the rest gotta go because none of them are good enough to play for our rival nations so they cant play for us or we aint qualifying for anyting a tall for real.
