After GCC Would love to see our next FIFA practice match outfitted with KEAMAR, MR. MAN MORGAN, DAMION, RICHARD EDWARDS, NAVION BOYD, RYAN SMITH and the 5-6 prospects from ENGLAND.
Depth & competition must be TAPPA's next angle to keep the regulars focused.
I would love to see Whitmore (or Gamma) take Alvas Powell under his wing for some serious grooming.

Ryan Smith to miss rest of 2011 season
Sporting Kansas City winger leaves KC due to family reasons Kurt Austin June 21, 2011 Sporting Kansas City winger Ryan Smith Sporting Kansas City winger Ryan Smith
Sporting Kansas City announced on Tuesday that winger Ryan Smith will not return for the 2011 Major League Soccer season due to family reasons.
"It's never easy for international players who come to MLS when they have to live far away from their families. This situation is no different,” Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes said. “With some of the family issues that Ryan has back at home, he felt like this was the best decision for both him and his family, and we support him."
Smith, 24, was signed prior to the 2010 season and appeared in 26 games, recording three goals and seven assists last year. In 2011, Smith missed the first four games of the season while recovering from offseason knee surgery and had recently missed the past three games due to a groin strain. He had one goal in six MLS appearances this season.

Chivas USA acquires midfielder Ryan Smith via trade from Sporting KC
Sporting KC will receive first and third round 2012 Supplemental Draft picks November 22, 2011 Chivas USA Communications
CARSON, CA. (Monday, November 21, 2011) Chivas USA announced today that it has acquired via trade Englishman midfielder Ryan Smith from Sporting Kansas City in exchange their first and third round 2012 Supplemental Draft picks. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Chivas USA General Manager, Jose Domene commented on Ryan Smith: “Ryan is a talented winger with great pace and skills. At Chivas USA, we are committed to continue to improve our roster for the 2012 season.” Smith, 25, appeared in 32 matches in two years for Sporting Kansas City, recording four goals and seven assists over the past two seasons. In 2011, Smith appeared in six matches after returning from offseason knee surgery, but his season was cut short in June after leaving the team for family reasons.
He is a good mid that plays both ways and is better than some of the pretenders Tappa keep playing the Williams, Boyds, Watson and Austin but unless we focus on building the team rather than loyalty foremost. I guess we are still waiting for that wide search for players.
Hopefully he will join. Most likely he would be competing with Demar Phillips for a spot unless they decide to move Demar into the middle. Good player who can add to the squad, but he does have the typical Jamaican brucky boo mentality.

Smith sets the record straight on abrupt SKC departure Chivas' new MF reveals mother's illness required his attention January 17, 2012 Adam Serrano MLSsoccer.com
CARSON, Calif. — Last year was not kind to Ryan Smith. The speedy winger and former Arsenal product was forced to abruptly leave Sporting Kansas City in June, midway through the season, due to family reasons. He ended up missing the rest of the campaign.
Just months after his departure from Sporting KC Smith attempted to make a move to La Liga side Real Zaragoza, before SKC traded his rights to Chivas USA for a pair of Supplemental Draft picks. Questions about Smith’s status swirled, but after reporting for the first day of preseason camp with the Rojiblancos, the winger was eager to tell his side of the story.
“I had to leave last summer to look after my mum," Smith told reporters on Monday. "What a lot of people don’t know is that it was to be close to her because she suffers from lupus, which is a permanent illness. Nobody knew that apart from the coaching staff at KC. Then I went to Spain and we couldn’t work anything out over there for whatever reason. Then I spoke to the guys at Chivas and they wanted to take me and that was it. It was pretty much done as quickly as I found out.”
In order for a deal to get done, Smith’s first priority was ensuring that his family could join him in Southern California. After speaking to the Rojiblancos management, he got his wish.
“The good thing is that MLS offered me a new contract that is a little bit more money and enabled me to bring my family over here now,” said Smith. “I’m really looking forward to it. It was an indifferent time when I left because no one knew the situation, but now everyone will know.”
With his family currently preparing for their move from London to Los Angeles, Smith is now free to focus on becoming an integral part of the Chivas USA midfield for the upcoming season. In order to do so, Smith – who scored four goals and seven assists in 32 games with Sporting over the past two seasons – must earn a spot.
However, after the difficulties of the past year, he's ready for the challenge and believes that he may have finally found a home with Chivas.
“The guys are nice, I kind of feel like I’ve been here for a while,” said Smith with a smile. “They’ve welcomed me really well and I’m just looking forward to the new season and hopefully getting us into the playoffs.”

He has talent , alot of talent. He has great ball control, skill, changes direction swiftly and hes quick. He lacks body strength and its difficult to understand why he always struggled to be successful, anywhere he went in England, he was never a 1st team regular anywhere but theres no doubt he has talent.
The Red-and-White’s week in Oxnard continues as the team gears up for Friday’s friendly against Ventura County Fusion. We slowed down one of the newest Goats, speedy winger Ryan Smith, after training just long enough for a little Q&A.
cdchivasusa.com: You’ve been with Chivas USA for about 10 days now, how’s it been so far? Ryan Smith: You know what, I really feel at home here. I’m enjoying every minute of it so far. The whole philosophy on how the manager wants to play is definitely going to suit me down to the ground so I really like it.
cdchivasusa.com: So you’ve been able to get a sense of what coach Fraser wants out of the team? Ryan Smith: I knew about his style already, and it’s my style as well… He’s already stressed the importance of how he wants to play and keep the ball, and when we don’t have the ball, close the opposing team down.
The way the manager wants to play is a top European style. We’re about to watch this Barcelona game on TV, that’s how he wants to play. That’s inspiring. Anybody would want to play like that. I don’t know many players that would want to play anti-football, anti-soccer. I’m really looking forward to it.
cdchivasusa.com: You finally got the chance to tell your story of last year, regarding your mom. How important is it going to be having your family with you in L.A.? Ryan Smith: It’s difficult to be away from your family. You’ve got to remember my daughter goes to school in London as well, and that’s another thing that really affects me. Even though my mum and some of my family will be here, my daughter will still be in school and she can only come out on holidays. It’s always going to be tough, but having said that, it makes it a lot easier when someone like your mum is by your side. She’s the most important person in my life, she’s more important than the game itself.
cdchivasusa.com: How has Oxnard been so far? Ryan Smith: It’s been a lot of running [laughs]. Now it’s starting to calm down a little bit. I’m really enjoying it here, it’s beautiful. Compared to London, this is heaven, this weather. It’s fantastic. I look out my room window and you’ve got the ocean right there, it’s incredible.
cdchivasusa.com: Has the trip up here been a good chance to get to know your teammates? Ryan Smith: Yeah, definitely, [and] the coaching staff as well. They’ve gotten to know me as a person and how I need to prepare in preseason and stuff like that. All together it’s been great. Yesterday I had dinner with a few of the boys and it already feels like I’ve been here for a while. It’s really nice and I feel really welcome.

Shavar, I believe he can also play in the central mid role.
After The Gold Cup..Im going to have a meeting with Howard Macintosh concerning Pool for 2014. Ryan Smith has to be in it. As you have allways said Linc...U can NEVER have ennough depth
I havent heard the Technical staff mention his name at all, as it relates to the wing midfield it looks like a Demar Phillips and Chris Humphrey combination

I was thinking along that line as well. They should at least keep track of him monitoring his progress. It does appear he has qualities to play in the middle.
You probably want to remind the bras J-yute just in case they might have forgotten about him.
Also be reminded he has already express his allegiance to Jamaica, and even said he's not sure if the JFF is aware of his heritage. So there's a need to some kind of contact to at least let him know they are aware of him.
Also a player not necessarily have to be considered for the qualifiers for them to be included in a friendly.
