Yup, I saw this as well. It seems that in March Venezuela is playing Argentina on the 16th, Jamaica on the 25th and Mexico on the 29th. We last played Venezuela in 2004 in Kingston, and beat them 2-1, so let's hope for another positive result.
Seems like Venezuela is preparing themself for when they make the switch over to the CONCACAF conference to increase their chance of making it to a WC. If Guyana can play in CONCACAF why not them?
Congrats to the Capo and the JFF for lining up this match.
Well, unless some one is eager for a broken ankle they need to either install some kind of synthetic turf at Catherine Hall or start working on the field........and keep cars off the darn field. It is NOT a freaking parking lot!!!

Lawd God Pele nuh seh dat, wi nuh need dem @ all...
A lightbulb soon go off in a Venezuelan official's head.
Nothing in sports is sacred nowadays. Everybody is only out looking for an edge and the easiest way to the top. So anything is possible. Dem no stop playing 'gainst CONCACAF teams.
Venezuela must be salivating at the possibility and I don't think FIFA has a valid reason to deny them while allowing their neighbors, Suriname and Guyana, to compete in CONCACAF.

Don't think so. Theres a lot of difference between Guyana and the rest of Latin America, namely language. Can't see Venezuela switching over to CONCACAF regardless, it would cause a huge uproar and would make them look bad.
Tough fight but FIFA already opened a can of worms by allowing Australia to move to the Asian Federation....now New Zealand wants to move to Asian Federation.
*Israel is in Europe because of its relationship with its neighbours....

Oh yeah and Australians speak fluent Mandarin and their women wear Burkas making their transition to the Asian federation flawless...
Completely different situation. Australia moved to a harder confederation to increase their own competition, add another potential world cup threat to Asia, and give the other Oceania teams a chance. It was a win-win situation for both confederations and Australia. CONMEBOL would not accept a move from Venezuela.
I was just thinking out loud, but none of the argument made why Venezuela can't or won't join CONCACAF is valid in my opinion. Jrgong there was a time when looking bad for trying to take the easy way out meant something in sports. Take a look at the sports landscape, those days are long gone. Any athlete or team holding on to the nostalgic past are assure of falling behind.
Venezuela can challenge any argument that try to distinguish them from Guyana or suriname.
As I said. I was just thinking out loud due to the number of games they are playing against our teams.
Here is a followup to my earlier posting. I think that Venezuela is preparing for the South American championship, Copa America, which is to be held in Argentina this summer. The FIFA match days are the 25th-29th of March, so neither they nor Argentina could have assembled full teams. But they should come full strength for us, and we for them:
Local Argentina Squad To Play Against Venezuela In March Friendly
An Argentina XI made up of domestically-based players will take on Venezuela this month in San Juan's new Copa America stadium... By Daniel Edwards
Mar 1, 2011
Argentina's new domestic Seleccion will make their 2011 debut in two weeks' time, as they have been scheduled to take on Venezuela on Wednesday, March 16.
A press release on the official Argentine FA website informs that the game will be played to mark the opening of the Estadio Bicentenario in San Juan, one of the host sites for the upcoming Copa America. The new stadium holds 25,000 spectators in a mixture of terracing and seats, and will also host games for local second division side San Martin.
The final squad for this fixture is as yet unconfirmed, but it is expected to consist of the same players who have been training with Sergio Batista as part of the side made up entirely of players performing in the local league. It is likely though that Enzo Perez and Federico Fernandez of Estudiantes will miss out due to Copa Libertadores commitments that week.
Current Domestic Seleccion Squad:
Agustin Marchesin, Diego Valeri (Lanus); Cristian Chavez, Lucas Viatri, Javier García, Fabian Monzon (Boca Juniors); Lisandro Lopez (Arsenal); Enzo Perez, Federico Fernandez (Estudiantes); Luciano Aued, Fabian Rinaudo (Gimnasia La Plata); Jonatan Maidana (River Plate); Claudio Yacob, Iván Pillud (Racing Club), Ismael Quílez (Colon de Santa Fe)
Venezuela is the most improved team in CONMEOL over the last 10 years at least, hands down.
Is Venezuela any better than the top 3 in CONCACAF ?
No freaking way !
Its pure football politics if there was any hint of a switch to CONCACAF but Venezuela would not benefit from a switch any more than Mexico would benefit by switching to CONMEBOL.
Its a cracking good match for Jamaica in preparation for the Gold Cup 2011.

Australia had a very valid argument for moving, in that their development was miles ahead of any other federation in Oceania. What would be Venezuela's excuse? Their development is miles behind all the other South American teams? I don't see they have any argument to move if of course one day they decide they want to play in CONCACAF.
so by your logic, both Suriname and Guyana could apply for membership in CONMEBOL then? Guyana and Surniname are CFU members, which falls under the umbrella of CONCACAF.
But i suppose it would be an enticing prospect for Venezuela to beat up on CONCACAF teams like Jamaica (sure they would have a harder time with Mexico and USA)
