All clear for Orgill
Nodley Wright, STAR Writer
Digicel Premier League team St Georges yesterday got good news which would have lifted their gloom following their 2-4 loss to Boys' Town on the opening day of the 2010/2011 season.
The Portland-based team received the green light to include the former Vancouver Whitecaps striker in their team following the issuance of his international transfer certificate. Orgill, 20 was released on July 8 by the Canadian club which will as of next season be a part of the United States Major League Soccer (MLS).
In their loss to Boys' Town, St Georges were clearly missing a forward with the knowledge or ability to finish. Orgill is a proven goalscorer and has been tipped as a future Reggae Boyz striker.
national squad
Recently, the former Titchfield High school student told STAR Sports that playing in Jamaica will open doors to the national team for him.
"I see being in Jamaica now as a huge opportunity to get back in the national programme. Right now a lot of local-based players ... players in the DPL are a part of the national squad so I intend to make the most of this opportunity," said Orgill who captained Jamaica at the Under-17 level and who figured prominently in the country's Under-20 team which narrowly missed qualifying for the 2009 World Youth Cup.
The Portland native said he is not disappointed at the severance of ties with the Whitecaps which signed him as a 17-year-old for their residency programme in October 2007.
"I am not disappointed not to be a part of the set up anymore because everything happens for a reason. What counts is what I do now."

Orgill has lead our u15, u17 and u20 national team in scoring over the past 5 years. Now he needs to step up to senior level and make his impact felt in the goal scoring charts at the u23 and senior level.
Stay humble, calm, collected, composed and focused young man!!!

BUFF BAY, Portland — St Georges SC gained their first point at home in the Digicel Primer League when they were held 1-1 draw by Portmore United at Lynch Park on Sunday.

In a competitive game, the home side showed attacking enterprise early when Orgill darted down the left flank and picked out Horace James, but the latter failed to capitalise.
Portmore responded through Stewart and Alanzo Adlam, who both tested custodian Ralston Robinson, but the latter was equal to the task.
St Georges against the run of play took the lead when Orgill picked up the ball just outside the penalty area, made some room for himself and fired low to the left of custodian Garice McPherson.
Undaunted, Portmore went on the offensive through Steven Morrissey, Stewart, Errol Stevens and Ricardo Cousins. The thrust paid off when Morrissey passed to Stewart who fired to the left of Robinson for the equaliser.
St Georges coach Braxton Hyre was pleased with his team's efforts. "It was a very good game as both teams came out running... I was surprised the boys stood up for the 90 minutes and it is a good start for us," he said.
Portmore's Linval Dixon was pleased with the away point. "It was a good game and a nice result for both teams," he noted.

Orgill ans St. George's SC seem to be heading for relegation. It will be interesting to see if Orgill try to go on loan to another DPL club next season or make another try abroad.

Well, it was a rough first year in the DPL for Dever Orgill. He did not score many goals and the club was relegated to the Eastern Confederation Super League.
He needs to make a return to the North American 2nd or at least 3rd tier. He will be turn 21 soon and needs to mature.
