So when the MLS teams beat their chest about beating a lower division England side in a friendly they talk about the strength of their league. What does this game say about USL's level rising or MLS's level dropping?
The case in the past five(5) years has been the top 4 teams in the USL top division can beat any MLS team on any given day. Some USL squads such as the PR Islanders, Austin Aztex, Montreal Impact and Portland Timbers have very experienced players who are also WCQ veterans for African and CONCACAF teams.
IMO, it usually better to play for a top USL team than a poor(bottom 6) MLS club.
