I would not expect Shavar Thomas to play in this match although this match will be a big test for Adrian Reid, Jermaine Taylor, Dicoy Williams to show that they are ready to handle quality competition. If they want to land decent professional contracts now is the time to step up.

Los Ticos ready for Action
The Costa Rican Team (Los Ticos) will arrive in Jamaica on September 4, a day before their friendly match with the Reggae Boyz. The day before that, the Costa Ricans have a friendly match against Panama in Panama City. The Costa Ricans are bringing a twenty two man squad to Jamaica, twelve of those players are local players playing in the Costa Rican League. The remaining 10 players are overseas players who play in the USA, Norway, Belgium, Poland and Holland.
Costa Rica's player on form right now is Alvaro Saborio who plays in the MLS for Real Salt Lake alongside Andy ''the bomber'' Williams. Saborio has scored 4 goals in his last 6 games for his club and he has scored 3 goals in the last 4 games for his country, as he got goals in a 1-0 win over Switzerland and 2 goals in a loss to Argentina. Saborío, has been notably recognized for his accomplishments with Depotivo Saprissa, and the high amount of goals he has scored in a short period. But after a year at the club his Costa Rican Coach got a hold of him and he took part to the 2006 World Cup. He was mostly a substitute in the World Cup, behind Ronald Gomez and former Manchester City forward Paulo Wanchope.
Costa Rican defender Roy Miller who plays for New York Red Bulls will face up against club teammate Reggae Boy Dane Richards, but the only thing is that they will be playing against each other now and not together. Miller has just been at New York for just a few months now while Dane has been at New York Bulls for 3 years. Dane has shown Miller how life is at New York is, now Dane will show him how Jamaica controls things in '' the office''. Another match up that will be very key is the battle of the midfield. Two club mates again will go head to head. They are Michael Barrantes and Demar Phillips. Both players are very key to both teams. Michael Barrantes and Demar Phillips are both part of the engine of both teams. It will be interesting to see who will win this battle. Demar Phillips has the great technical skill, while Barrantes holds the ball well and creates space for his team.
The last time these two teams met was in the Gold Cup in 2009. The Costa Ricans won 1-0 from a goal by Celso Borges. Borges will be making the trip to Jamaica. Borges' father, Alexandre Guimaraes. was the man who led Costa Rica to the 2002 and 2006 World Cup, This match up is getting heated up as this will be a stern test for both teams as they prepare for the 2014 World Cup qualifyers and the 2011 Gold Cup. Costa Rica has history on their side, having beaten Jamaica 10 times out of 19 match-ups but they are playing a new look Jamaica team which has not lost at home since June 2007.

Familiar faces for Jamaica, Costa Rica matchup Published: Thursday | August 26, 2010 0 Comments and 0 Reactions

It will be a case of familiar faces confronting each other when the Costa Ricans touch down at the Norman Manley International Airport on Saturday, September 4, one day before their highly anticipated football friendly against Jamaica inside the National Stadium.
The last time the countries met was at the CONCACAF Gold Cup last year when Costa Rica won 1-0 on a goal by Celso Borges, who will also be making the trip to Jamaica.
Costa Rica have history on their side, having beaten Jamaica 10 times out of 19 matchups. However, they are playing a new-look Jamaican team which have not lost at home since June 2007.
The Central Americans will be travelling with a 22-man squad comprising several players who play with members of the Jamaican team in domestic leagues.
Ten of the visiting players ply their trade in leagues outside of Costa Rica such as the US Major League Soccer (MLS), Norwegian, Belgium, Polish and Dutch leagues; including respected defender Roy Miller, who plays for New York Red Bulls in the MLS.
Miller will face clubmate Dane Richards, who is expected to feature in the Jamaican attack. Miller has just been at New York for a few months now, while Richards has been at the club for three years. Incidentally, it was Richards who helped the Costa Rican to settle in his new environment. However, the diminutive striker will be looking to be less hospitable when both clash at 'The Office'.
Familiar figure
All-action left-sided player Demar Phillips will also be coming up against a familiar figure in the form of Michael Barrantes, both of whom hold starting spots in the midfield of Norwegian Club Aalesunds FK.
Like they are in club play, both are also key figures for their national teams and will ensure an intriguing battle when both nations square off.
Incidentally, Costa Rica's in-form striker, Alvaro Saborio, plays in the MLS for Real Salt Lake alongside a former Reggae Boy, Andy 'Bomber' Williams. Saborio has scored four goals in his last six games for his club; and he has scored three goals in Costa Rica's last four games.
Alvaro "Air" Soborio is the Danger man for CR, especially in the Air. Watched him a few times this Season and this dude have some serious "Hops" and hang Time in the Box. Our Wing backs will need to dem best prevent crosses coming into the Box and limit fouling this Area too.

Prediction. Ja 3 CR 1
Big prediction that Morefire.
Yes sir! No dis to CR.. I just have mucho confidence in my side at home. With that said, we might have to double "Air" Soborio on Deadball Crosses into the Box to preseve my scoreline prediction.

I could understand playing our A team against Panama, butwho is the B team playing why we couldn't play them against JA. Why we affi send our C team?
Pelepapa you one funny dude. That is no C team, stop making excuse beforehand.
CRica had the youngest squad at last year's qualifiers average like 25 years or so and 2/3 of the players that will be playing against JA weren't even on the bench. What does that tell you?
The least we could have done is bring the bench players from the qualifiers, which would've been our B team.

So Rodney Wallace finally made up his mind to play fi wi. That's why mi no like foreign coaches. Rodney deh deh and nobody peep pon him. Mercenary foreign coach come and he is pon the squad.
Him born a CRica. No hard feeling, but if he has to think about whether he wants to play fi wi then wi don't need him. CRica never made a fuss about him before despite him probably being better than other players we had at his position.

Pelepapa, I herd from my sources on the Ground in CR that Rodney Wallace was actually tracing his Jamaican roots and looking into obtaining a Jamaican passport and possible representing the Green Black and Gold. He's been hesitating to play for the Tico's, cause his heart is with the Boyz. unfortunately he couldn't crack our starting lineup so him decide to stick with CR. Lol...
