Morefire- You need to take guys like Fuller, Bibi, Davis, Johnson, Stewart out of the 2014 consideration because they are aging players. So what do we have left a bunch of unproven players that plays in second tier leagues, high schoool and college. We need to recruit because although we might have some talented young players they are not ready to get us to the hexagon. If these young players are not in a pro-setting already how are they going to perform agaisnt pro-players. We are slow in player development and the transition of our players from under 23 to senior is almost non-exsistent.
Carter, i just put those senior players as an example of what we can produce locally. if we were running to England and USA digging up every baller with a drop a jamaican blood, di players i mentioned woulda neva buss.
1998 was a one of and everthing was just rigth. The Real stars for Ja at that WC was Bibi and Tappa Whitmore. Deon Burton had a hot streak in the WCQ But after WC him fade. Since then we qualify for u17 and u20 WC with Local Players. went back and tried adding foriegn born jam at the U20 and senior level both Men and Women and that neva work.
I man not against the inclusion of a few foreign born Jam in the Team, just dont want see the side saturated with foreigners unless those foreigners are all twice as good as the jamaican born players.
is this match being played on a official fifa match date?
Yes, but I do not expect many Europe-based players will be allowed make the trip, espcially England-based as all leagues but EPL start the 7th then have League Cup the 10th while EPL starts the 14th.
We still can beat the Trinis handsomely with the mls and the players who play outside of England.Get them together a couple days b4 and play a practice game against a dpl all-star.

Boyz start series of local practice matches
Thursday, July 22, 2010
THE local chapter of the Reggae Boyz continue their preparations for the upcoming international friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.
Yesterday, the team was scheduled to have a practice match against a St Thomas select team at the York Oval.
On Sunday, they are scheduled to play a St James XI at Jarrett Park at 5:00 pm as they fine-tune preparations for the friendly encounter on August 11.
The match-up of these two Caribbean teams is typically seen as a fierce Caribbean football derby and with the last three games ending in stalemates, the mission by both teams must now be to break the trend.
The game, which is scheduled for the Hasley Crawford Stadium at 6:00 pm (Trinidad and Tobago time), will be the first time the two teams will come head to head since both failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals.
Both teams have begun their rebuilding programme and head coach Theodore Whitmore has assembled a 25-man team to continue training, with goalkeeper Randall Huie from St George's FC being the only first-timer called to the squad.
The technical staff has indicated that in preparation for international friendly games, the national squad will be taken through the parishes as a means to build the bond between the national squad and the Jamaican football lovers.
This strategy employed in the build-up to the 1998 World Cup finals campaign assisted in familiarising Jamaicans with the then emerging team.
Jamaica will host Trinidad and Tobago in the return leg on October 10 at 'the Office' in Jamaica.

Tappa should focus on tactical understanding and awareness this match. Yes, it is important to win but this match is all about preparation for the Digicel Cup. Now is the time to buss some young ballas playing along experience veterans for mentorship and guidance. Do not wait until Digicel Cup, Gold Cup or WCQ to groom ballas. The massive will need to show patience and understanding. It is key to look for football intelligence, good fundamentals passing, off the ball movement, communication and transitioning from attack <-> defense.

Vanzie, 20, was part of the Under-21 CAC Games squad a few months aback and has earned his first senior call up by head coach Theodore Whitmore.
Vanzie, a former Garvey Maceo player, is highly rated by a member of the Portmore United staff, who thinks he is arguably one of the best in the island.
The 23-member squad is expected to report to the Players' Residence at 102 Shortwood Road, Kingston 8 at 1:00 pm on today where they will be housed for the duration of the camp.
The squad is preparing for the international friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago on August 11 at the Hasley Crawford stadium with the return game set for October 10 at the National Stadium in Jamaica.

Clarence added to T&T roster ahead of Reggae Boyz clash Monday, 02 August 2010 22:44 Shaun Fuentes (TTFF) E-mail Print PDF 0diggsdigg
Juma ClarenceTurkish-based National Under 23 striker Juma Clarence has been invited by head coach Russell Latapy to join the current squad in training for the August 11 friendly international against Jamaica at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Clarence is among the squad of players which includes the same names that were involved in the 4-1 victory over Antigua/Barbuda last month with former English-based goalkeeper Clayton Ince also involved in the training session at the Macoya venue on Monday.
Ince has been assisting as the goalkeeper coach with the National Under 23 and Under 20 teams for the past few weeks.
Clarence, scorer of T&T’s goal in the 2-1 loss to Italy at last year’s FIFA Under 20 World Cup, came on in the second half of the T&T Olympic’s team’s 2-1 win over the Antiguans last month.
Manager David Muhammad explained that the inclement weather conditions did put a slight hamper on the training on Monday but the squad will be back to normal on Tuesday.
“The heavy rains did not allow us to have the kind of full training session today but the players are all available from the last game and everyone will continue to training in the build up to the match against Jamaica. We have added Juma Clarence to the training squad and Clayton Ince is also training with us.
Clayton has a vast amount of experience is certainly a good addition and should be a welcomed one for our other just as valuable goalkeepers in Marvin Phillip and Jan Michael Williams,” Muhammad told TTFF Media.
“The game is definitely an important one to both Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago as we have seen that the Jamaica team has been in constant training and their head coach Theodore Whitmore has indicated by way of his comments in the Press that he is hoping to pull off a victory over us because of the bragging rights involved in such a match and of course both teams are preparing for competitive matches later in the year.”

No disrespected intended but this is a perfect example of overhyped expectaions, imho.
Jamaica isn't ready yet to beat Trinidad or any decent team 'handsomely'.
Realistic expectations now should see slow but steady progress in the Caribbean Cup (repeat winners), a good performance in the 2011 Gold Cup and the contenders for the final squad emerging for the 2014 WC qualifiers.
Unrealistic expectations at thi stage is only going to bring disappointment when they're not met.
Give Trinidad some respect; on their day they can beat Jamaica in any game.
