Yes, we should. I think the Trinidad derby match will be vital to let the players understand international football is played at a higher level.

Create some merchandise, fundraising events etc. Is there nothing else which can be done except ask for sponsorship?

Redbaron, the i beed fi tek a Chill Pill... Check this out: Jason Morrison, Rafe Wolf, Claude Davis, Damion Stewart, FuLler, Bibi Gardner, Dwayne Miller, Austin, Eric Vernan, Lovell Palmer, Kemar Daley,`J.Johnson, Dwayne Miller and Demar Philips.

There is the Next Generation: Ed Campbell, Jason Johnson, Keithy simpson, Marvin Morgan, Evan Taylor can go on and on

The Players mentioned above All born and raised in Jamaica and products of our Bush League (NPL). Are we supposed to ignore the up and coming talent in Jamaica and focus recruiting UK born players with jamaican connections?

Morefire, who said anything about ignoring Jamaican born talent??? What a stupid idea that would be. There has been and will continue to be talent unearthed in Jamaica. But they will only get exposure within a successful team. You think scouts want to watch a team which can't make an impression on the world stage? Talented players need support to shine hence why Ryan Giggs is one of the most talented footballers never to have gone to the world cup. It's important that all players on the field are of a minimum standard. Players will also gain more from playing for a winning team than a poor mediocre one.

I favour a bias towards players based in jamaica but if inclusion of a foreign based player will enhance the balance and performance of a team then bring them in. Why have we abandoned the formula which took them to the world cup in 1998. We didn't get lucky. The team we had at the end of qualifying was worthy of their place at the WC. We just need a coach who can get the balance right.

It is never good to just focus on local players, no successful team does this, scouting for players local and overseas, some even aquire citizenship to play for countries. Money is not the only form of incentive, management and coaches that command a certain level of respect, coaches even more so. Lets reflect back on 1998, we aquired quite a few foreighn based players, and as a result we qualified, if JFF. had had not taken such a broad approach we would not have had the success we achieved. I have much love and respect for Tappa but a seasoned player he is, a seasoned coach no, and we need that, i think at some point JFF., will do that, still they need more than money, they need management with the right attitude to take it to the level like the US. and how they have grown, and if you notice their weakness in recruiting or hesitancy in calling foreighn born players and if you notice the USA., is not hesistant ence they have no problem in qualifying, you know it is a given they will why is that, for the simple reason i have given for one, we cant say the same for Jamaica.

It should be a combination of locla, youth development, college and overseas players, we should be so attractive that players would want to come and represent their country.

Now, dis Trinidad match is all about proper preparation for the Caribbean Cup for the local-based players.

And Marklon is 100% correct we need to get the correct combination of local, youth, college and overseas-based Jamaican players. I will tell any player who resides outside of Jamaica, if they are seriously interested in representing it is THEIR responsibilities to get their personal paperwork together. Also at least come visit the island to get the true vibes. Joel V. Grant and Ryan Johnson are the example of two players who did the necessary leg work on their time and money.

Won't get my hopes up too high, since I suspect there will be a coach change relatively soon.

I think this match is been played on a FIFA match date so we may be able to call up a few more players. The Trinidad Pro League is currently in mid-season so their players are fully fit. I believe we could get a few MLS and USL players for this match if their clubs release them such as the following:

Omar Cummings
Ryan Johnson
Nicholas Addlery
Dane Richards
Lovel Palmer

I think a trip across the Atlantic Ocean for one match is useless for the UK, Norway and Sweden based players.

Morefire- You need to take guys like Fuller, Bibi, Davis, Johnson, Stewart out of the 2014 consideration because they are aging players. So what do we have left a bunch of unproven players that plays in second tier leagues, high schoool and college. We need to recruit because although we might have some talented young players they are not ready to get us to the hexagon. If these young players are not in a pro-setting already how are they going to perform agaisnt pro-players. We are slow in player development and the transition of our players from under 23 to senior is almost non-exsistent.

Mongoose Day?

Same debate since '98- local vs foreign based players

Twelve years later.

How come we don't pass on knowledge and exp. from one generation

to the next?

How come we rehash the same squat over and over again and again?

We have time to work with the young players, it started in January against Canada and will continue through the 2011 Gold Cup. Let us remember our goal is to have a strong squad during the 2011,2012,2013 world cup qualifiers.

We need to continue the growth of players like Dicoy Williams , Lovel Palmer and Jermaine Taylor

As the man said talent alone will not do it. I am not sure we are playing enough games to get the young bucks ready for WC qualifiers our best young players are local base and the College players are forgotten. We have a large pool but so many of them are average players who need games and a professional setting.

Rasputin- We have not attain much since 1998 so the debate will continue. Unfortunately players with potential will not get you thus far. Example our under 20 teams always fail at the final stage.

Look for Tappa to go with youth in the midfield versus Trinidad.
