At wake they do have an accelerated program so it is clear he is done with his college education.

I saw him play this year. The kid has a bright future ahead of him.

Well, Lyle Adams has been over in Europe for the past 30 days going on trials with Austrian, Swiss, Norwegian clubs. He seems determined to give Europe a try before signing with MLS.

23-year old originally drafted by United in 2009 MLS SuperDraft



Washington, D.C. (March 17, 2010) - D.C. United announced today the club has signed defender Lyle Adams to a developmental contract. The centerback joined United on trial at the beginning of the current preseason campaign, after being originally drafted by the club in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.

“We’re excited to sign Lyle after identifying him at last year’s draft as a player that could help us,” said United General Manager Dave Kasper. “He is a young player with good potential, who will add quality depth to our backline. We look forward to his contributions to the club.”

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Adams was drafted 26th overall in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft but decided to pursue European option. After trials with clubs in Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, Adams landed in the United Soccer League’s Austin Aztex.

Adams spent four years at Wake Forest University, earning a starting spot during his freshman year and an NCAA Division I National Championship in 2007. Adams finished his collegiate career with 11 total goals and six assists.

Other Experience
2009: Initially drafted by United in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft (26th overall), Adams decided to pursue his options abroad. After going on trial with various clubs in Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium, the defender returned to the United States and joined up with the Austin Aztex of the United Soccer Leagues First Division. He made his professional debut for Austin on April 18 and went on to play 13 matches for the Aztex, scoring three goals.

2006-2007: During his time in college, Adams also played in the USL Premier Development League a couple of summers. In 2006 Adams played for the Central Florida Kraze, and the next year he suited up for the Carolina Dynamo.

College Experience
2008: In his final year, Adams played and started in all 24 games for the Demon Deacons, finishing the season with three goals and three assists. Adams was named ACC Player of the Week once in the season and to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week after his performance in the Deacon Fall Classic.

2007: Adams played an integral role in Wake Forest’s NCAA Division I championship run, starting all 26 games of the season and recording four goals and two assists. The defender helped his side to log five back-to-back shutouts midseason, and a school record of 15 by the end of the year.

2006: During his sophomore year, Adams started 24 games for the Demon Deacons, registering four goals, including one game winner.

2005: In his first college season with Wake Forest University, Adams saw action in 21 games (17 starts), registering one assist. The young defender also helped the Deacons log nine shutouts on the season and post a goals against average of 0.98.

I guess it would have been too much if DCU had signed Jermaine Taylor too..... Would have been nice though. ;\)

In college he was known as a "scoring defender" with 11 goals in 4 seasons. He had 3 goals last season for the Austin Aztex.

Adams was released by DC United on April 30, 2010 after not making any appearances.
