Well i like the original idea observer.. simple and straight.
if it was 3 points for a win 1 for a draw and a point for every goal you score all the points standings of all the games played since Feb. 27th by the top six teams.
Arsenal and Spurs would be on top with six points from 2 wins but plus extra 6 each for goals scored with Arsenal having a game in hand. ManU third with 3 goals scored and ManC with 5 goals scored coming fourth only bcoz ManU won 2 games and gained 6 extra points putting them on 9points with ManC who gained extra 3 for winning one game and drawing one. Chelsea on 7 points. 4 goals and one win. Liverpool with one win and 2 goals on 5 points.
I think its a brilliant idea to reward in football for goals scored.
But alas Chez thinks its rubbish to do so even though he says football is about attacking and defending.
The only hiccup I can see is from our little table we can see the team considered the favorite is not the team leading. But could we frown on a Hull or Stoke who has scored more goals than others and take the fourth champions league space... But then wouldn't teams be competing for the top strikers.
Wouldn't that sort out the attacking side of Chez's argument. Wouldn't the fact that other teams can pip you to the post make you wanna score. And if you lost points for goals scored against you wouldn't you invest in defenders.
I think Chez is thinking soccer will become the new American rugby. Just attack and defence..
Why should football be about the coach and his tactics... Football was not invented by a coach. Football invented the coach.
I argue that football can go anywhere it chooses. Football as we know it is catering for the fans and if the fans want it to be more exciting or weird well it should be considered.
Would it distort the outcome of the league table or would it make it more exciting as no one would be considered a run away certainty.
