No Sam, man and man just being realistic. We need to put the best team on the field to get us to Brasil,JA needs a stronger pool of players and should not neglect the UK based ites.

U notice sey mi name the defenders weh mi tink betta dan Jermaine and Shavar....and dat two a Jamaica original stalwart, home-grown ballaz deh pon mi list...'Tew Peas and Big Claude ?
So wah, just playing football in the UK now disqualifies ballaz from playing for Jamaica ?
From the squads picked over Tappa's reign since the last WC qualifiers, it would certainly seem so.
Well, as I said...3 members of Watford's back line are eligible to play for Jamaica. Mariappa (mum) and Doyley (both) are both starters for Watford. Mariappa is presently being pursued by Newcastle, Swansea and Arsenal.

Dread let's be realistic with an additional 6 UK born and the original stalwart dem as weh Ric seh. Quality should be served over quantity.

Ric I am also @ a loss as to the continued ommision of players that made such a huge impact in the final 3 games of our ill-fated 2010 WC campaign, Claude and Stewart included. I still cannot figure out JCR's non inclusion either so there is obviously some divisiveness that needs to be addressed there.
Mi head spin more time when mi hear di seemingly infinite amount of names on dis board and honestly it gets exhausting. I have to admit however that ya'll are on the ball though and it can only help us to become more competitive. The people in the know are privy to our list, hopefully they will by some devine intervention find the right blend.

Sam, I don't have a quota simply because, as Lincs will tell you, players get in trouble, they get injured, and they lose form. Some of the players we use in the beginning of quals might not make it to the cup for a variety of reasons; we need to look at the promising youngsters as well (guys like Sterling etc). Still, I don't see more than 6 UK born in the squad at any given time simply because the UK born players need to be better than what we already have.

OPINION: “HARD WORK AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE” – NOSWORTHY ON RECENT FORM Posted on: Mon 02 Apr 2012
NYRON NOSWORTHY says the Hornets are thriving off the work hard they're putting in during training as the squad look to finish the season strongly.
Saturday's 2-0 defeat of Leeds United at Elland Road - thanks to a double from Chris Iwelumo - lifted the Hornets into the top half and level on points with Neil Warnock's men.
Speaking to watfordfc.com, Nosworthy said: "We're on a good run and we said we could upset them [Leeds].
"We started on the front foot but like any home team we knew they'd have their moments, and they did, the save from Kuszczak was the turning point. Article continues Advertisement Click here to find out more!
"Throughout we dug in and defended well, while still creating chance of our own.
"The early goal was a massive lift, it put the momentum with us and it puts the pressure on them.
"We knew they would back at us and we had to defend properly."
The Hornets are now unbeaten in seven games, and far from placing positional targets, Nosworthy and his colleagues just want to continue their good run.
Nosworthy
"Our form is down to hard work and a positive attitude," the defender revealed.
"The gaffer doesn't expect anything less. From the youngest player in the team we're pushing all in the same direction and its paying off.
"We're looking stronger as its coming to the later part of the season and people are thriving off working hard.
"The tempo is unbelievable and people are putting in match performances in training."
If 'Tew Peas and Claude Davis can get a recall to Jamaica's side, playing in lower divisions, I don't see why Nuggsy can't get a call-up; Jamaica needs a stronger defensive pool that we currently have.
I fully agree Ric, if Nosworthy is not in the squad to face Panama I will be disappointed. Hes 1 of our best defensive options so it wouldnt make sense for him not to be in the squad, it would just be foolishnees to continue picking players that Nosworthy is definitely better than.
If the Captain and his crew shegg dis one up it will not be good......
Watford season will most likely end on April 28, 2012. So Nuggsy can even be in the mix for the Guyana match.
Give him 10 days rest and he can easily be in Jamaica by May 8 to prepare for the match on May 18th.
He can even bring along teammates Adrian Mariappa and Lloyd Doyley for a visit.
I agree with you JMTL Burrell can't afford to shegg this up and we end up with an unimpressive team, and our tail between our legs being booted out of the second round of qualifiers. I for one would just withdraw my support and redirect my time and energy else where.
I wouldn't go so far to say Cappo was lying. Running such a large administration and personal businesses as well, so things and ideas can get lost along the way. I'm not making excuses for him; we just don't know how the organization is run and their day to day operation. I can only gauge by the action he has taken so far in going to England personally and made two contacts.
Furthermore they had brought in 3 players in Elliot, Smith & Bean, even though these are not stellar recruits nevertheless they at least showed movements in the right direction.
Also they have secure King, Humphreys & Pratley. Should I be skeptical of any of these coming, i'm not. However I'm skeptical of the rest, Beckford, Hoilett, McAnuff & Mariappa.
Nugsy, maybe a little skeptical here at least for June qualifiers; possible further in the summer we'll see him.

So I think we need to give a little credit where it's due, while at the same time keep the pressure on reminding them of what was spoken months ago that's not acted on yet.
J-Yute Hoilett was contacted and we are aware of his situation, the ball is in his court. We're still waiting for McAnuff to be contacted, what's the hold up?

Nodley Wright, Gleaner Writer
Watford defender Byron Nosworthy will get his wish when he turns out for Jamaica next Friday against Guyana in a friendly international in Montego Bay.
The 31-year-old defender, who was born in England to a Jamaican father and a Guyanese mother, has long harboured the dream of joining the Reggae Boyz band.
"For me it is a great honour to play for my country," Nosworthy, who was spending time with relatives in Manchester, told The Gleaner on Friday.
"I have wanted to do this ever since I realised that I could play for Jamaica.
"Unfortunately injuries and other circumstances prevented me from doing so before now, but now that the opportunity has come I plan to make the most of it," continued the man who spent six years learning his craft at Gillingham before moving on to Sunderland where he played another six years.
The desire to play for the country of his father has always been strong, Nosworthy said.
"My mother is from Guyana, but I made it clear early that I wanted to play for Jamaica.
"Jamaica is part of my heritage, part of my culture. Guyana is too, but Jamaica is it for me and I visit Jamaica every year. With me playing football I have always wanted to play for my country," he explained.
Jamaica's successful journey to the France 1998 World Cup also increased Nosworthy's hunger to represent Jamaica.
Inspiration from past
"Looking at the 1998 World Cup was also an inspiration for me. People like Fitzroy Simpson, Robbie Earle, Deon Burton and the others all inspired me. Perhaps the biggest inspiration for me though was Ricardo Gardner and what he achieved with Bolton (Wanderers). He played at the highest level for most of his career and that is what I aspired to."
Now that he has become a part of the Jamaican national set-up, Nosworthy has his mind on helping to create more history.
"My goal with the Jamaican team is to create more history with the country. First of all though I want to get to know the boys, get myself in the squad and of course producing the goods," said the solidly-built player. "I am really looking forward to it.
"I do not know too many of the players in the squad personally. Marlon King I have known for a while since we both played at Gillingham, while I know Ricardo Fuller, Claude Davis and Damion Stewart, but I am sure we could all get together and do great things for the country," he added.
As to what he brings to the table Nosworthy said mostly reliability.
"Fans should look for security from me. I am reliable. On the field I am a strong player, resolute and calm when I need to be, but I know how to rough it up also. I can play football. If I need to play it out of defence I can do that too, I am pretty much versatile," he outlined.
Despite standing a shade under six feet, Nosworthy, who plays mostly in the centre of the defensive unit, said that is not a disadvantage.
"I stand just about 5'11", but my presence on the pitch is big. I am good aerially. I am predominantly a right-footed player, but I can and have played across the entire backline," said the very Jamaican-sounding player.
Nosworthy goes into camp with the other members of the squad today.
