National goalkeeper Dwayne Miller left the island yesterday for Europe on a two-week trail stint with clubs in Norway and Sweden.
Clyde Jureidini, general manager of Harbour View, the club Miller represents in the Digicel Premier League, told The Gleaner he is happy with Miller's achievements this season.
"We are delighted to have young Miller be selected to go on trial in Europe which, for a goalkeeper, is very rare," said Jureidini, while not disclosing the names of the clubs at which Miller will be on trial.
"I think it is a good opportunity for him and we wish him all the best," said Jureidini.
The 22-year-old goalie made his senior debut for Jamaica in their 2-0 away win against Malaysia, in a friendly international in 2007. He has so far won nine caps for Jamaica, the last of which was a 2-1 defeat to South American powerhouse, Argentina, last month.
Miller was also a member of the Jamaica's Under-20 team, which won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in 2007. Miller's trail stint was made possible by Romel Wallen, through his company Pro-Gold Sports Management Limited.

They may be judging him on ALL his youth and senior team international matches and then getting a close look during the trail. Sounds a bit smarter....eh

A lot of times these clubs go by the future potential of the player and the exploits of other players from his country.
Looking at the achievements of our youngsters over the 5 years a European coach will note that wherever these Jamaican's go they raise the bar and if we were to do a check of the accomplishments of the teams that we go to as featured players we will probably note that a high percentage of them achieve promotion and "stay promoted" against all odds.
the Word on the streets in Europe and the world is that Jamaican players are great buys as they have an incredible learning curve and their passion and dedication to the game along with their professionalism is without par.
We are trailing in noticing that as all of us have inner demons that we are dealing with that prevents us from seeing the good in us as most times we are too busy focused on the bad.
It takes dedicated time, knowledge and the help of the most high to move forward with healing and working on yourself
congrats to the youths.

Is a good thing the Euro clubs didnb't see the Argentina game!
Actually it is a good thing nobody around here have the responsibility of selecting players for the Euro clubs.
It is just as pointless to criticize the yute based on the Argentina game as it would to sit around a ring criticizing a sparring partner for not throwing his jab when the champion, his employer, told him that he wishes to work on blocking left hooks today and thus instruct him to throw only left hooks. Nobody knows what instruction was giving to Jamaica, but we should all know that in these games instructions are giving, that's why you are paid a set fee.
Good thing the Euros understand the nature of those games. Best of luck to the youngster.
he should have gotten Bruce Arena to take a look at him, realize he has potential and have him train under Ricketts... that way we wont be keeperless past 2014, not to mention it would be easier to track his progress

Pele I watch Miller in the DPL and rite now him no good. Mi naw seh him dont av potential.
I realise that evrytime a player get call for a trial we hype up. If my memory is correct, less than 40% of the players from yard who go fi trials actually get tru. Some all get 10 trials to raco george.

I hear you Zilla. You noticed I didn't put any ratings on Miller's ability. What I am saying is that there is no use in judging a man's performance, especially in such a harsh manner, when his team is playing the role of a sparring partner for another team. I assume Jamaica was aping Nigeria. Maybe Argentina noticed that the Nigerian goalie has a habit of coming out on crosses and wanted to work on attacking it, thus instructing Tappa to ensure that the goalie do as such. Should Miller have said..."Mi no goalkeep like dat, di Nigerian goalie ah idiot, mi nah leave mi goal in such a reckless manner...?
The point is that Argentina were well within their right to make such a request and any other request they so desire of Jamaica. That makes any analysis of what Jamaica did or did not do meaningless since we have no idea what Argentina demanded of Jamaica and we wouldn't expect Burrell to make that known, since he himself a go on like seh him is a fan instead of the president. Him a chat bout him a console the players like seh dem just bow out of the WC. Why he needed to be there for a sparring match anyway? He could've stayed home and saved the price of he and his entourage's accomodation. Not to mention he could've used the time to arrange a game for yesterday.
There was suppose to be 2 games played in Chile yesterday and Chile was suppose to take part in both. Does anyone need any further evidence as to the nature of these games?
Wait let me get this straight. Your saying Argentina told Jamaica HOW they should play in the game? If this is what your saying, its the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

DWAYNE MILLER:
After travelling since 9am Tuesday morning, he arrived in Sweden on Wednesday at 2:15 pm and was unfortunately rushed (even against our written and verbal warnings not to) into a game the same night at 7pm against former National Champions AIK, in the second half. Halftime score was 0-2. The game ended 0-2, hence he kept a clean-sheet under extreme conditions of fatigue, cold -4 degrees Celsius climate against tall high ball playing attackers.
His outstanding performance was noted, as i went ballistic on the Agents and Club, which followed with rest, hydration and acclimatisation i am told apologetically by all. I have not yet spoken to Dwayne on his phone but he said i should try again today, he however emailed me twice yesterday to say he is fine and to tell everyone hello for him.
He played again Saturday night, keeping another clean-sheet to win 1-0.
He is scheduled to return on Tuesday next..after decision are made?
Well IFK Göteborg is trying to wrap up the signing of Nigerian Peter Ijeh - let's hope Dwayne Miller is just as lucky. Both Miller and Ijeh are on trial for two spots that the club need to fill very badly. Seem as if Miller had a decent game after coming on in the second half......
Sometimes a player is just in the right place at the right time.(Luck)
