D.C. United has invited center defenders Quiarol Arzu of Honduras and Jermaine Taylor of Jamaica to the second phase of training camp, which will begin a day earlier than scheduled in Florida because of another snowstorm bearing down on Washington.

If this Story is true. I think he has a good chance of making it he definitely has the Talent and Physical Tools. Didn't see anything about this on the DC United Website earlier today.

I think the improvements that Taylor has made in the past nine(9) months, he has a good chance to make the squad. He will need to adjust to speed of the MLS.
Jamaican defender Lyle Adams is back at DC United for another trial spell. He was cut during the pre-season last year and went on trial in Norway before ending up at the Austin Aztex. Hope his luck is better this time.

As we anticipated, D.C. United has officially announced that Honduran defender Quiarol Arzu, Jamaican defender Jermaine Taylor and former Notre Dame goalkeeper Andrew Quinn will join the club on trial in Bradenton, Fla.
Taylor is scheduled to arrive Sunday. Arzu -- who plays centrally but is comfortable on the right side in a three-man backline -- comes Monday. Another trialist is in the mix: Arnolyn Guity, an 18-year-old Honduran forward for which there is little background information.
Andy Najar, a talented youth academy forward, has also accompanied the team to Florida, primarily for the experience.
United will begin its preseason match schedule Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Columbus Crew at IMG Academies in Bradenton. DCU will also play Toronto on Wednesday, New York next Saturday and both the USA under-17s and Florida Gulf Coast University on Feb. 26.
I am awaiting confirmation of a proposed preseason visit to Mexico that would include a friendly against Santos Laguna.

The picture is pretty murky at best because there are a number of DC United players holding down "Senior International" roster spots. Anyway, Lyle Adams already has his residency so he does not count against an international spot - if he is selected. The roster will be reduced in the coming weeks so lets see what happens.
With the team now settled in Bradenton, FL and continuing workouts, General Manager Dave Kasper has provided us with a few updates to the preseason roster. Here are the changes that have been made over the last week, with the current Bradenton roster available after the jump.
Roster additions: Danny Allsopp - Arrived in Bradenton Thursday night and is scheduled to train Friday. Quiarol Arzu - Honduran defender, who will arrive Monday. Jermaine Taylor - Jamaican defender with 36 national team caps - arrives Sunday. Andy Najar - DCU Academy player, training with the first team for experience, with the team now. Arnolyn Guity - 18-year old Honduran forward - with the team now. Andrew Quinn - Notre Dame product, goalkeeper and the son of DCU team photog, Tony Quinn – with the team now.
Roster dismissals: Nigel White Otto Lowey
Here's what the full roster will look like with the new additions:
Goalkeepers (4): Troy Perkins, Milos Kocic, Bill Hamid, Andrew Quinn
Defenders (11): Julius James, Floribert N'Galula, Marc Burch, Dejan Jakovic, Lawson Vaughn, Devon McTavish, Rodney Wallace, Lyle Adams, Jordan Graye, Quiarol Arzu, Jermaine Taylor
Midfielders (8): John DiRaimondo, Christian Castillo, Clyde Simms, Tiyi Shipalane, Brandon Barklage, Santino Quaranta, TwoBoys Gumede, Daniel Wasson
Forwards (7): Danny Allsopp, Adam Cristman, Chris Pontius, Boyzzz Khumalo, Jaime Moreno, Andy Najar, Arnolin Guity
Not currently with the team, but under contract: Josh Wicks (rehabbing in CA), Bryan Namoff (post-concussion syndrome), Danny Szetela (knee surgery)

Looking at this roster numbers wise tings look kinda steep for Taylor. Like what i've been seeing from Taylor lately but dont know much bout his competition for those def spots

Taylor has a good chance, he has more international experience than all the other defenders in camp. But it comes down to the coach's system and $$$$$$.

Outside arrivals -- The Washington Post reported Honduran center back Quiarol Arzu remains with the team in Bradenton, while Jamaican defender Jermaine Taylor's mooted trial didn't materialize after he suffered a groin injury -- remain a possibility to bolster the starting XI, but Onalfo said he likes what he's seen so far from the players currently available to him.

So Jamatl is Taylor still in DC's plan or is he out due to this Groin injury?

Taylor did play a midweek game vs. HV on Feb. 24 going the full 90, he then flew up to Florida on Feb. 27th and linked up with DC United for a 7-10 day trial.

DC United is in need of another centre back
Burch will have surgery this Thursday by Dr. Lew Schon, a foot and ankle specialist out of Baltimore, to address a fractured sesamoid bone in the right foot. Simms is expected to miss four weeks, while Burch will be out of action for four months......
......Burch was a consistent starter in the defensive line last season, collecting a goal and two assists throughout the course of the campaign. He played in 26 League matches (25 starts) and totaled over 2,100 minutes of play. Though he missed nearly a month late in the season with an ankle injury, Burch appeared in 32 games (30 starts) in all competitions

Injuries rattle United's defensive core: As discussed in last week's notebook, D.C. United coach Curt Onalfo has focused on rebuilding United's defensive core ahead of the 2010 campaign. Recent injuries to two key regulars will only serve to complicate those plans.
United left back Marc Burch will miss the next four months with a fractured seismoid bone in his right foot, while holding midfielder Clyde Simms is expected to miss the next four weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee on Tuesday, according a press release issued on Tuesday night. The United mainstays join right back Bryan Namoff on the sidelines, though Namoff is on the road to recovery as he battles concussion-related symptoms.
Onalfo faces two different tasks as he attempts to replace the duo. Burch started 25 matches in 2009, but second-year midfielder Rodney Wallace can fill the void and replicate Burch's willingness to join the attack. Simms, the steady, obstructive presence in front of United's back four, may present a more troublesome vacancy to address with Brandon Barklage attempting to return to form after recuperating from a right ACL tear last year and Danny Szetela on his way back into the side after knee surgery.

03/07/2010 DC United training in Torreon, Mexico (Santos Laguana) Curt Onalfo's side has three new trialists on board this week in Torreon. Former Chicago Fire defender Daniel Woolard is in camp, along with Jamaican National Team center back Jermaine Taylor.
