The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), together with Soccer United Marketing (SUM), today announced details of the Mexican National Team’s 2010 U.S. Tour. On the road to its 14th FIFA World Cup participation this summer, Mexico will play in six cities across the country between February 24 and May 13, 2010.
The annual U.S. tour will give the Mexican National Team the opportunity to finalize their preparation, culminating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup opener on June 11 in Johannesburg against host South Africa.
To kick it all off, Mexico will travel to the Bay Area to face Bolivia on Wednesday, February 24 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Calif. (8 p.m. local), presented by Visa. Tickets for the Feb. 24 match are available via Tickets.com and all the usual outlet locations.
El Tri will then head to Southern California to face World Cup-bound New Zealand on Wednesday, March 3 at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena (8 p.m. local), in a game presented by Wrigley’s Extra. Weeks later on Mar. 24 in Charlotte, Mexico faces Iceland (8 p.m. local) at Bank of America Stadium. Tickets for the Mar. 3 and 24 matches will be available at Ticketmaster.com and all the usual outlet locations.
A Visa pre-sale for the first three tour games begins today Jan. 28. The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol encourages its fans to go online early and purchase tickets using their Visa cards.
“Our goal in the first trimester of 2010 is to prepare the Mexican National Team for the FIFA World Cup,” said Nestor de la Torre, director of national team programs for the Mexican Federation. “The U.S. tour allows us to test our squad while giving our fans from all parts of the country the chance to send us off to South Africa.”
El Tri will showcase its World Cup hopefuls in every region of the United States. The tour includes Mexico’s first appearance in Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium in late March, and the first international sporting event at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, which will be home to the NFL’s New York Jets and New York Giants. The Mexicans announced that the closer it gets to June 11th(their firstWC game) the tougher they want their opponent. Therefore, I don't think Jamaica is what they would be looking for in May.

What I would want to know is if Jamaica couldn't get into this, since these countries are going to be in the region couldn't we schedule a friendly with atleast 2 of these countries 2-3 days after they play mexico

One of my Mexican co-workers also told me that Mexico was planning a "mini-world cup" in Mexico as part of their massive Bicentenario celebrations.......Mexico is 200 years old this year. I am not sure if the tournament is final....

Mexico passed on the 77th ranked Jamaica for the 86th ranked Angola? I guess they needed real Africans.
*It is also possible they were looking for a "better" team and not necessarily a more "higher" ranked team. That is a lot of money to bring a team from Angola to Houston - when Burrell's Boyz are right down the road. Ouch!!!

Has Jamaica ever tried playing a friendly vs Mexico, Honduras, or even El Salvador in Houston? I have seem Jamaican promoters trying to wake the dead in places like Miami/ Fort Lauderdale. Jamaican fan support in Florida seems a bit mild when compared to the Hispanic fans here in Houston. Maybe the "Jamaican promoters" could give Houston a try vs Mexico after the World Cup. Reverse the formula - go after the Mexican fans.....not the Jamaican Wagonists. ================================================================= *El Salvador, Honduras and even Guatamala is not as "afraid" of Mexico as the Reggaeboyz are. Maybe this is due to familiarity? Why does Jamaica "avoid" Mexico like the plague? =================================================================
*The Robertson Stadium (30,000 seater ) is not as expensive as (69,500 seater) Reliant Stadium..........

P.S - We used to be afraid of teams like Cuba, Canada, Guatamala, El Salvador, USA and even Trinidad.......It is easier for coaches and players to figure out teams when their adrenaline levels are not pumping off the charts.
Q: Have you noticed the marked difference in the approach to the games the Boyz play in CONCACAF?..........Mexico and Honduras are still a "mystery" to our players....and coaching staff. Once Jamaican players have conquered those two "demons" they will move to the next level of "evolution".....Mih nuh inna nuh Darwin vs God business. "Evolution" is just a word!!!

That was Jamaica's B team versus Argentina B/C team. If Jamaica had all the DPL and North America-based players available for selection, then the Mexico game would be OK. Otherwise, it would be a 4-0 embarrassment.

There are some North American based players who Tappa have not seen or have not seen in a while so he could possibly get a good mix.

Would you play against Mexico's B team using Jamaica's C team in Houston for less than US$50,000 profit?
They flew Argentina for $US25,000......JFF bruk so any "profit" is good now.
That was Argentina's D team, at best. From their players in Spain, Italy, France and Germany alone they could make three stronger national teams than the one our B team faced. Let's big up JA, but let's be accurate.
Honduras looking for opponent for early April. They approached wi but wi no seem too interested. The 'Boyz don't seem to serve their purpose as far as preparation for WC, but if they are desperate for a game any opponent will work.
That game would be great because Honduras like Jamaica like playing in the USA.

In terms of matching up, such a game would really serve no purpose for Honduras. But they would be better off staying active, giving the younger players more game experience.
