The Canada should be mostly local.

Take the best performers to Argentina.

do you realize most of that team wont be around for 2014 .
The average age for that team is 30+ . Claude Davis and Pepe Goodison are aging defenders retired from international football .

Chances are no foreign based will be available because there are no FIFA Dates in February. Clubs can, and more than likely will, say no.

Yeah, I was there as well, it was ugly. Did you go over on one of the coaches with the London posse?

I was there as well.
We got detroyed and I missed out on the Stone Love session in Paris that night! Truly a bittersweet experience...emphasis on the bitter LOL!

Maradona back at helm after two-month suspension

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -Diego Maradona is back as Argentina's football coach, ending a two-month suspension imposed by FIFA following a profanity-filled rant after his team qualified for the World Cup against Uruguay.

The Argentine Football Association said in a statement Friday that Maradona will travel Sunday to South Africa to view Argentina's training facilities in Pretoria.

After Argentina's 1-0 win over Uruguay, Maradona attacked critics of his coaching in a tirade aired on television. Argentina faces South Korea, Nigeria and Greece in Group B when the World Cup opens in June.

The principles of marketing and business applies to us also

Gentlemen it starts FIRST from proper planning, setting goals, identifying all the POSITIVES that can be done by brainstorming and THEN you chop them down piece by piece to see what works and what doesn't and what stands up to the acid test.

The problem with us is that we are PROGRAMMED daily to believe that we are second class and so we harp on the negatives without once looking at the positives and building day in and day out.

Just think, if we have put together a plan after 98 and FOCUSED daily on our plan since then. How far would we be by now?

However not only are we brainwashed but our ego and pride prevents us from being humble and learn how things get done so we can do it. Instead we beat down ourselves and saddest of all we burden the new generation with negative expectations.

WE dont' even sit back and say that this is a different group of youngsters who are more PROFESSIONAL and unlike a lot of players from the 98 batch they have years of professional experience.

Instead these comedians who pass as sports writer and so called journalists in Jamaica run for the first negative things and when interviewing the youths they drill that into their heads and then get vex with you when you fail to accept their second-class mindset.

The American media have nothing on these idiots(and mi nah hide and talk) that is why we need a total media black out when dealing with dem duppy deh.

God help our children
with parents like these who needs enemies.

Knowledge is power and somehow all the search mi search the bible I can't find where it says "esteem ignorance and it will exalt you" so a weh dem duppy yah come from who no want knowledge and nah seek it and yet every sunday the god mockers hitch up inna church while hardening their ears and their heart to "with all thy getting get understanding"

We don't even have a damn functional website or social media site and waaan mek money. We waaan fi deh a step 5 and no start at step 1.

Just to prove say a no talk the god annointed prophet/motivator/sheperd/warrior/genius a talk. Hold dah book yah!!!

I've given it a lot of thought and i'm still not fully certain that I know the purpose of this game.

The hoped for financial gain seems the most plausible of explanations that some of the ites have given, but based on what has been agreed upon between Argentina and Jamaica, not even this is certain.

I'll use the analogy of someone on his way to work and who has no fare for the bus. He walks by a gym where boxers are in training and in order to get his fare, he allows himself to be punched senseless for a few minutes.

Couldn't we have found ourselves another candidate a little less formidable than the Argentines? Wouldn't that have given us better odds at having an outcome more favorable to us?

What exactly are we trying to prove? I'm still searching for the answer.

Let me ask you and xy a question ; Why are teams like Costa Rica,
and Canada have dates with Argentina ? we seems to forget The Americas will have the lone playoff in World cup Q ,thats where Concacaf #4 meets Conmebol #5 in 2014 era why teams like panama went to chile a week or so ago and play there ? my friends XY & Carver2 ,teams like canada ,costa rica and panama are playing in South America to get a feel of it , yes ! there is a quote that saysdedication + preparation = Success . We look at teams like Panama ,Jamaica , Canada , Costa Rica and you realize any of these teams can finish4th in concacaf . Simoes , Hart , and Tappa Whitmore need to try out a team and get exposure in south america. XY & Carver , why is this game risky ? you did not lern a thing in the last world cup qualifier , jamaica was deprived from the hexagonal round because we failed to beat canada in toronto . Suppose Jamaica by virtue of luck get the 4th spot and our first world
cup game in Kingston is a lackluster Draw(nil all ) and we have
to get a vital result in South America , dont you think Tappa
will have some hope cause he played in south america before ?
suppose the playoff is between Argentina/Jamaica .The point is
we need games like these for our players to get exposure in, jamaica coulda lose 12 nil .

Metro, I regard a friendly with Argentina as little more than providing us with the instant gratification of knowing we can get a game against one of the best teams in the world. If you like you can also throw in bragging rights over the Trinis.

You mentioned a number of fairly good reasons why it may be beneficial to us: The possibility of a 4th place CONCACAF matchup with a 5th place CONMEBOL team; providing Tappa with a stern test of his coaching acumen. Those aren't bad reasons but I just don't think that's where our focus should be.

Many, if not most of us on here, have been following the Reggaeboyz closely for the past ten years. As objectively as you can muster, tell me your honest opinion of them.

What progress have you seen? Do you think we're on the right track?

If you can't answer either question affirmatively, here's another one for you: How does playing Argentina fit into the scheme of things based on the changes that need to be made?

At what point will we realise that no matter how many years we stay on the forum, how many posts we make or how enthusiastically we support the team, that alone will not make the Reggaeboyz into the meaningful entity that they ought to be.

Playing Argentina will not do it, either.

We vent our frustrations at the players; they're lazy, not hustling enough, not fit enough, do not possess the fundamentals. But it's not their fault, they're trying their best with the inadequate tools they've being given.

Look at our beautiful girlz in Guatemala, we've consigned them to a playoff with the Trinis to see which is the weakest team in the tournament. The best we can hope for is that they score a goal before them go home.

Is that the best we can do for our players?

We need structural changes to our soccer program. We need to get into a developmental mindset with special emphasis on our youth. We need to start them off young, provide them with the fundamentals, nurture them and watch them grow into the world beaters they will surely become.

At that juncture, you can bring on Argentina.

I see no other way.

Thank you.

Teach dem about preparation bredrin. It is now 2010...the fifth spot in South American has been Uruguay on three occasions, so let us prepare ourselves now for a possible 2013 matchup. Mar de Plata is right across the river from Montevideo, so we can prepare now for the hot weather and the crowd when our players are 21-24, so when they are 23-27 it will not be new to them.

Preparation, Preparation.

Carver jamaica is on the right track , it starts with our
administration thats,Captain Burrell ,Horace Reid and all who
is giving 101% at the JFF but most of all Tappa Whitmore & coaching staff including warren barrett. Until we level the playing field between foreigners and local coaches, jamaica will benefit . Look at Tappa Whitmore , he has 66% win record with the national team and got favorable results versus sven-goran erickson , Carlos Alberta parreira this tells a tale
i.e jamaica football can currently do without foreigners, majority of us supports the coaching staff .What we
need to do is go out and support the national team .

Well, Metro, at one point I felt exactly the way you feel now. But, over time I came to realise that wishful thinking alone wouldn't do it. Trust me, you'll come to see the light, too.

Each man is entitled to his own opinion so if you think they're headed in the right direction, that is your prerogative.

My perspective is a little different: When you go from being ranked 33 to closer to 100, I wouldn't exactly call that "the right track."

When a dozen years go by since France 1998 and we can't even make the final round of World Cup qualifying against teams, some of whom are weaker than us, that to me is not progress.

That US team that always gets the better of us, did you see what Honduras did to them a few days ago?

When it becomes an embarrassment to watch our players on TV, both men and women, not able to do basic things. If you give Luton Shelton a chimmy full of gold coins, he'd still have trouble controlling the ball. And guess what? He's our striker!

I could go on and on, but to what end?

As to who the administrators are, that is of no consequence to me. What is important is what they do. Give Mickey Mouse a bligh and if he makes the right moves then he would be the man for the job.

I don't see the present lot doing anything noteworthy, but if you do, you can let us know what it is.

I have already stated in my previous post what needs to be done.
