Ok it is a little over a month before the match. Has the sqaud been anounced yet or anything?

Look here Capello did not call up Tyrone Mears for Englands last 2 games so I think it would be good to take him. Also Danny Simpson the MAN U defender who is on loan at New Castle who is improving game after game.

Im sure we will see a strong squad

i dont think either player will want to play for us since Barnes is long gone. Especially Mears.

Santana Optimistic About The Future
14 October 2009

Despite suffering successive defeats on the tour of Scandinavia, Bafana Bafana coach Joel Santana is optimistic about the future of his squad.

South Africa lost one nil to both Norway and Iceland – the last defeat coming on Tuesday night (13 October) in Reykjavik, Iceland. Viegar Pall Gunnarsson scored the only goal in the 50th minute.
“Obviously I am not happy with the losses, but it was a good outing for the side. It was important for my players to experience the rigours of international football as it will build their character. I am happy that I gave some players a chance away from home, and they did not disappoint,” said Santana.

The Brazilian says he has made some observations on the tour, “The last match was better than the first, the marking and shooting was better, but sometimes we need to use our pace more when attacking, and also we should not give our opponents space,” he said.

Captain Aaron Mokoena believes that despite the losses, the nation should not lose hope.

“We came on this trip with uncapped players who got a run and in the process they did not disappoint. Yes we are still not happy that we are not getting positive results, but on the other hand we have blended in some players and now it's up to the coach to finalise his World Cup squad,” said the skipper.

Bloemfontein Celtic captain Thabo Nthethe as well as Franklin Cale of Ajax Cape Town both made their debut on this tour. Cale was first capped in the match against Norway when he came on for Siphiwe Tshabalala, while Nthethe replaced Siboniso Gaxa in the clash with Iceland.

Bafana Bafana are left with two matches before the end of the year.

Next month they face Japan on the 14th, and then meet Jamaica three days later in Bloemfontein.

“Both matches will be difficult especially Japan which is the stronger of the two, but I need to win, I will go there for a win,” said Santana.

Bafana Bafana return to South Africa on Thursday morning (15 October).

My bad, the post was supposed to be about Reid but I added the South Africa posts. I was trying to find his video clip where he scored in a 4-3 win for Lillestrom SK. Its all good.

South Africa plays a return game in Jamaica in March .
I am hoping we could call our MLS players knowing MLS
will be in the off-season then . Hey guys , Donovan Ricketts
weight is 200lbs for is height I guess it is OK but as he gets
older if he can take off 10lbs to 190 he'll be in better shape.

metro u see some of our guys in the MLS will not be in the playoffs so they may be called up for the SA game? well we know for sure Dane Richards may be called up cause NY is not in the playoffs.

A Question here :

Does anyone know the full squad selected for that game ?

Saw the Jamaican team in the Gold Cup vs Canada and really sat and watched the team.

We would have been a much better team without Fuller, Bibi, Claude Davis, Stewpeas.

I don't think a lot of us are aware that our problem in the past was experience and lack of professional touches on the ball to assist in our development.

Now we have a wider base of young youths getting world class training in a professional environment daily and also just in case a lot of people didn't notice the creator sent two of our promising mawga man dem to go sit at the feet of two of the worlds greatest Goal poachers

Romario and Henrik Larsson both of whom highly reccomended our youngsters. Dem man dem both play at the highest level and know
something about scoring goals

we should pay attention to what we have bubbling under the surface

I might surpresi

so wait deh a it that? Man have fi play fi keep contract?
no wonder dem a get beatdown so.

Yet dem nah get it say its time for new blood and new tactics
time fi leggo the speed pon the flanks.

If England can move forward from them John Barnes days when a Black man had to fight to play on the team to now you have Lennin, Sean Wright Phillips, Abundeyor(sp) and all those non skill having speedsters on their flanks a wah we a wait pon?

we still stuck in the fraidi fraidi mindset of old when we have the pace and skill fi "tek it to dem"

How long it ago tek we fi see it clear say a no nobody dem.
JFF a dig dem own grave, low dem mek dem sink dem time soon up

respect

Will Tappa call up any North American-based Reggaeboyz to join the SA preparation camps. Next weekend the MLS and USL season will be over for a few players such as:

Dane Richards, New York
Ryan Johnson, San Jose
Nicholas Addlery, Puerto Rico
Stephen DeRoux, Montreal
Obrian Woodbine, Charleston
Keiron Bernard, Austin
