Senior forward Yannick Salmon scored a pair of goals and junior forward Ibrahim Kamara added a tally to lead Rutgers men’s soccer (4-9-1, 1-6-0 BIG EAST) past Syracuse (2-8-5, 0-4-3 BIG EAST) 3-0 on Saturday night at SU Soccer Stadium

Unfortunately for twenty(20) year old, Yannick Salmon his college career ended today as Rutgers lost there last match and did not qualify for the Big East or NCAA tournament.
He will be able to start his professional career now.
If Tappa is calling up all the top schoolboys, he should give Salmon a look in the midfield during camp before the 2010 Digicel Cup.

Salmon's Third Team All-BIG EAST Honor Highlights Rutgers Men's Soccer Senior Forward Earns Conference Honors For Second Straight Season
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 15, 2010) – Rutgers senior forward Yannick Salmon (Westbury, N.Y.) was named Third Team All-BIG EAST the league announced at the postseason awards banquet. It was the second conference award for Salmon who was named to the Second Team as a junior following a standout 2009 campaign.
Salmon led the Scarlet Knights in scoring this season with six goals. Rutgers was 3-1-1 in games in which he scored a goal. Primarily a defensive player in his first two seasons, Salmon showed a knack for finding the back of the net, tallying 12 career goals during the past two years. On three occasions, the 6-0 forward posted two goals in a single game, leading to wins each time.
His junior was a memorable one in which he earned Player of the Week honors from four separate outlets after leading the Scarlet Knights to a pair of BIG EAST victories against Providence and Connecticut. He was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Player of the Week, College Soccer News National Player of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week.

Yannick Salmon is only 20 year's old(turns 21 in April 2011), he is about the same age as Darren Mattocks but he has already played four years(70+ matches) of NCAA/Big East ball. He played for the Jamaica u17 in 2007 and the u20 in 2008.

Fire Trim Training Roster By Four user-pic Guillermo Rivera posted 5 days, 4 hours ago | 31 comments | user-pic Guillermo Rivera
Chicago Fire/MLS/Soccer Junkie Follow on:
The Fire's practice session on Saturday looked a bit lighter for good reason. Several players are no longer in camp and won't be headed to phase 2 of pre-season training in Florida next week.
Supplemental draft pick Yannick Salmon and trialists Barry Rice, Ashley McInnes, and Hunter Jarrett are the first casualties.

Unlucky for Salmon but he is still only 20 years old, I would suggest that he finish up his degree and either play locally for Red Bull New York or even in the USL Pro for a year, then come back strong during the next transfer window.

Just a correction, I have not seen any press release directly from the Chicago Fire that Salmon has been released.
fyi:
Players who take up the development roster(24 years old and younger) spots in MLS (spots 21 through 30) will make either $32,600 or $42,000, with no chance for bonuses, unless they are part of the Generation Adidas program,

I am not the only who thought Metrop... and Salmon was one and the same I saw this guy played a few times and was not impressed, but over the weekend while down in JA I was watching a re-run of the Jamaica vs US u17 from last cycle and I must say I was impressed with him...could have been due to high grade, guiness and steam fish, but nontheless, thought he was very useful in the Jamaica colors...hope some of these wise scouts saw what I saw and he eventually gets a break.

Former Jamaican u17 and u20 player, Yannick Salmon, who recently completed his studies at Rutgers Univ. (NJ) is currently on a week long trial with Sweden League leaders, Helsingborgs IF.
Yannick Salmon played in HIF's U-21 game today......
Loose Swedish to English translation....
Quote:
U21: HIF ready for playoffs.
HIF played a draw 1-1 in the last match of the U21 series against Mjällby at Olympia. Mohamed Ramadan receipted for HIF in the second half after the team ended up at a disadvantage.
Some good and mixed. Occasionally, good combination play, scoring opportunities which were interspersed with sloppy passing. So it was very up and down in the match. The law became scattered and created large areas. A match which surged to and fro, quite pleasant to look at, I think, says HIF's coach Lars Bakkerud.
HIF's new Icelander Gudjon Petur Lydsson made his first match in the rödblåa shirt today. Otherwise thought Lars Bakkerud that all players made a fine effort in the match.
- It was a fairly smooth response from most. All are doing the best you can. It was a bit up and down at all in the game too I think.
Today's score gave the HIF a place in the U21 finals in the fall. More information about the playoffs is when it is approaching.
Starting line-up: Daniel Andersson - Robin Book, Victor Wahlgren, Erlend His Tveit, Mattias Freij - Gudjon Petur Lydsson, Yannick Salmon, Sebastian Carlsen, Jorgen
Substitutions: Boris Vidovic (from Ramlösa Southern FF), Mikael Berglund-Bengtsson, Alexander Jovcic, Rasmus Lindgren Youssef Al-Habduni.

Former University of Maryland/Rutgers University midfielder Yannick Salmon is having his trial with Swedish second flight side Landskrona BoIS extended. Today, manager Henrik Larsson (yes, that Henrik Larsson) told local daily Posten: "He looked good right away from the first training session and he's adjusting more and more to his teammates and surroundings. We said that we would be making a decision after this week, but he's worth keeping an extra eye on so he will stay for a while longer."
