Please take him back! He has not got a clue on how to managev a football league club! He has created a squad of players that is so inbalanced with only 5 recognised defenders one of whom is a 16 year old first year pro. We have not just been losing games we have been outplayed, outfought and out battled by every team we have played. His tactics simply do not work and we have become the laughing stock of English football in only a few short months. There is in short absolutely nothing positive to say about his start to life in English football. Not one of the supporters have anything personally against him they simply want him gone before he gets us relegated into league 2. So if you would take him off our hands we would all be very grateful. Incidentally even Ian Goodison is playing poor, he has been one of our most consistent performers in recent years but even he looks like he has lost interest.
Rovers, do you think that the financial restrictions placed on Barnes by your club have left him in a difficult situation? After all, if the funds are not there, then it is hard to acquire the right personnel. On the other hand, is it a matter of giving him time, so that the players will start to learn his system? And, have the players been heard to be voicing their complaints against Barnes and his system?
By the way, I have followed the fan reactions ever since it was mooted that JB would become your manager, and most were negative, and even hostile and offensive. Are you really sure that you are being fair minded here? And why would you assume that he belongs to us, since he is English, and was one of your greatest ever footballers? He has lived in England far longer than he has lived in Jamaica.
It was not the case that people didnt want John Barnes in particular it was the fact we had a competant manager in place to start with who was sacked to make way for Barnes. Many fans were concerned that he had no experience at this level and would not know the sort of players to bring in. He has had financial constraints but no more than many other managers in this division. He has been able to pretty much build his own team however has not built it correctly. We are conceding 3 goals per game and never looking like scoring. In one of the sunday newspapers there was an article in which it claimed he and his assiatant have been named 'dumb and dumber' by the players. It is not a case of giving him more time because the performances are getting worse as the weeks go by and in the past 2 matches we have been well beaten by teams like Carlisle who had not won at home this season and Walsall who had not scored a goal since the opening day of the season. iT really is a shambles.

I meant take him back as your national coach he seemed to be doing ok for you.

While yes, he does lack experience, he was not given a complete squad to build until the first week in September. So he had no transfer money, no players, no pre-season and no fan support.

The main problem is the lack of good defenders.
When 'Digger' Barnes rolled into town, Tranmere that is, trumpeting how he was going to change their style of play to 'pass and move' without the quality of players to play that style of football, he was always on a loser.
Same ting happen to im at Celtic.
Tranmere Rovers is Tranmere Rovers, not Liverpool FC, past or present; better im did beg Burrell for a permanent job wid Jamaica where he had the quality of players to play his brand of football and bring Jamaica back to international prominence.
'Craven choke puppy' and a dat happen to Digger.
He won't last till the end of the season at Tranmere; him box food outa Ronnie Moore mout and a dat dem fan deh vex bout.
Dem man deh don hav no airs about dem team, dem a League 1 an only wan se dem team win, no mata bout no 'pretty football'.
The pressure is mounting on our Johnny. We'll see how things go:
Barnes not willing to walk away
Under-pressure Tranmere manager John Barnes says he will carry on regardless despite watching his side slip to another defeat at Exeter.
A brace from striker Adam Stansfield helped the Grecians to a 2-1 victory with Michael Ricketts' second-half header mere consolation for Barnes, who had to endure taunts of "you don't know what you're doing" and "you're getting sacked in the morning" from both sets of supporters at St James' Park.
"Of course my confidence is dented because we are losing matches," Barnes said. "But I am understanding why we are losing matches and seeing what we have done in the past.
"We are not doing anything different now in terms of what I'm asking them to do, so I still have belief in that.
"It is hard because it's not nice hearing the crowd and we haven't won, but from my point of view, nothing can stop me from coming in on Monday and working with the players.
"That is not the hard part, the hard part is the players going out on the pitch and doing it."
Another dismal performance he is going to relegate us in the clubs 125th anniversary year. We are shambolic, he also reached all new lows blaming the defeat on a 17 year old kid who played in goal. The man is clueless. How is Theo Whitmore doing? Liked him when he played for us although he didnt really have the best of times here.
And you had some ites who were willing to accept Barnes working for JA on a part-time basis instead of giving Tappa the full-time position. I guess a part-time Barnes is better than a full-time Barnes.
This is working out great for Tappa. Now he can do his work in some semblance of peace without people second guessing his every move. I bet you wi nah go here anymore "...If only Barnes was here we would've..."
I hope JB turns it around still. From what I read it seems he chose the wrong situation. He should've been more patient and waited for a better situation, even though it appears that for black coaches the opportunity to create miracles are usually the only situations that are available.
He is desperate to succeed as a coach and I hope he does. Even if he has to create miracles.
It's seems you need a miracle worker Rover, not a coach! Regardless of how bad you may think the coach is, if a team can't even win a game, even the ones you claimed were easy victories, then it goes deeper than the coaching.
What you need is money to buy a new team! I see you and your feeble fans spend a lot of time jeering the coach while finding excuses for your hapless team. In so doing, the players know that the coach is taking the heat, so they go out an play crap each game. The coach doesn't have the luxury to get rid of the losers, as there is no money to replace them with better players.
Maybe instead of spending time jeering the "miracle worker" the fans should be hoping and praying for one. Better yet, donate some money to the club to buy some decent players. We have a lot available here in Concacaf, which am sure Barnes would love to have.

Based on today's press conference, it seems JB will take results over performance, if Tranmere sticks will Barnes until mid-December, you will see a much improved squad. He is an intelligent and demand coach but he is still learning how to instruct and motivate his players, especially considering this is the first time he has every LACKED talent.

The reason he is being 'jeered by our feeble fans' as you put it is due to the fact he continues to play tactics that simply dont work, he openly criticises his players during press conferences and looks to blame everything other than himself for the situation the club find themselves in. ANOTHER manager would be able to get the team playing. As for spending our time jeering the supporters spend nearly 20 pound to get in and watch the match, they try their best to support the team however it is hard to do this when they are getting beat 3-0 and do not manage a shot on goal. The jeering begins when the supporters get frustrated. There has been an online petition this week to get rid of Barnes, and there are protests arranged for the home game on saturday. The club shop has been closed as Merseyside police are expecting crowd trouble. All in all its not a great situation however I take exception to you calling us feeble fans. We are trying to do something about the current situation before it is too late. Are you telling me that if Whitmore lost 8 straight games and in those 8 games you got destroyed by teams you know you should be beating that you would not jeer or voice your discontent..........

Like I said dude, getting a new coach is not the ultimate solution to your problem! It's not like your team was on a conquest before Barnes arrived. It's a very bad team with maybe the wrong coach. When your fans start demonstrating even before the coach arrived, can't make that a comfortable environment for any coach to succeed.

Mate,
Jamaica did diabolically poor in the CONCACAF federation championship back in the summer, which is the equivalent of UEFA's European Championships and there was hardly a wimper, except from some of the supporters on this site.
It might be difficult for some fans of football in the Caribbean to link with the passion and loyalty that British fans carry for their team. We find more of that passion in Central America in our federation.
To be fair, football is not Jamaica's number 1 sport, track and field is and if Jamaica's performances in athletics ever fell to the level of Jamaica's football recently, there would be hell to pay similar to what Tranmere's fans are kicking up about now.
I know what you're saying about John Barnes. I met him back in Nov 08 when he was coach of Jamaica and while he did a good job as Jamaica's coach, he comes across as arrogant and get people's backs up.
I never figured it would go well for him at Tranmere and Jamaica certainly doesn't want him back.
I wish your fans and my good friend, Ian Goodison all the best and hope you get out of the mess you're in right now.
