PHASE I TAPPA OR NEW, "PERMANENT" COACH. It is time for the JFF and Tappa or the NEW COACH of the Boyz to put the wheels back on the bus. The 2010 Caribbean Cup is a very good opportunity for the JFF to bring in the new Reggaeboyz coach or let Tappa know in no uncertain terms - "this is your puppy, you do not have to look over your shoulder. You are the coach and not a caretaker like Carl Brown." It is time to stop waiting until one month before World Cup qualifying to bring in someone who knows NOTHING about our players.
PHASE II *Reggaeboyz must finish in top 4 of Caribbean Cup 2010 to qualify for: Gold Cup 2011
PHASE III Caribbean Cup 2012 Gold Cup 2013
CARIBBEAN CUP 2010 Barring injury to many players at the same time or a massive meltdown like the Bolovia national team. Jamaica should retain the Caribbean Cup and pocket another easy $US120,000. This is the opportunity for the coaching staff/JFF to bring in the following players to blend youth with experience:
JAMROC 1. Devon Hodges[25] F - Rivoli 2. Kemar Daley [21] F - Tivoli Gardens 3. Dwayne Miller [22] GK - Harbour View 4. Duwayne Kerr [22] GK - Portmore 5. Jermaine Taylor[24] (DF) - St. Georges *Other outstanding locals. USA 6. Obrian White [22] (F)- Toronto FC 7. Lyle Adams [24] (DF)- Austin Aztex 8. Kieron Bernard [24] (DF)- Austin Aztex 9. Obrian Woodbine [21] (DF) - Charleston Battery England 10. Zavon Hines [20](F) - West Ham (*If he is not playing 1st team ball) 11. Joel Grant [22] (F)- Crewe Alexandra (*If he is a surplus at Crewe) CHINA 12. Demar Stewart [24] (DF) - Chendu Blades
THE USUAL SUSPECTS NORWAY: 13. Luton Shelton [23] (F)- VIF 14. Rudolph Austin [23] (M)- SK Brann 15. Demar Phillips [25] (M)- Aalesund 16. Eric Vernan [21] (M/DF) - **Nybersund IL 17. Adrian Reid [21] (DF) - ** Lillestrom HUNGARY 18. Jason Morrisson [24] (MF) - Ferencvous 19. Rafe Wolfe [23] DF - Ferencvous USA 20. Shavar Thomas [28] (DF)- Chivas USA 21. Omar Cumminngs [27] (F) - Colorado Rapids 22. Dane Richards [25] F - Red Bulls 23. Nicholas Adderly [27] F - Puerto Rico 24. Ryan Johnnson [24] F - San Jose Earthquakes
Bronx League Boyz *The JFF needs to identify and inform the local players in advance to let them know that their services will be needed for the Caribbean Cup.The local Boyz/Bronx League issue will not go away so it is high time that the JFF stop washing their laundry in the pages of the local newspaper(s). Let the players know what JFF/coach's plans are for them. Don't wait until the players are in the Bronx before someone sitting in the stands (reading an old copy of the Gleaner) informs them that they have been called up for the national team. Give the players a chance to either decline or accept the invitation so that both parties can move on. *Now, if the JFF notifies the players and they still head up to the Bronx - let them go!!! Just keep it moving. ================================================================= PHASE IV
WARNING - PHASE IV WILL NOT HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT!!!

I like the plan but I think Phase 0(zero) is the upcoming JFF Presidential election in October/November 2010.
Caribbean Cup 2010 qualifying would have already been in an advanced stage at that point so I guess we will know by then if Tappa Whitmore is the new Carl Brown - (AKA "Caretaker").

Lincoln this bigga than Tappa .
A couple years ago I have written jamaica football federation President Creston Boxhill asking him to hire Colin Todd. He was a devision 2(Eng) coach and I got the Idea from the french speaking african republics of Cameroon , Sinegal , and Ivory coast . What they did was used lower french league coaches in there National Program . When one think about it , doing that make lots of sence. Coaches from lower french leagues are not big name coaches , they have coached in a Professional setting and once they get familiar to a system they adapt . Today , Capt Burrell have given Theodore Whitmore the Manager Job , but Tappa inexperience can be our dooms day for Qualifiers in 2012. It is simple, what needs to be done . Hire a lower devision english league coach 18 months before Qualifiers (enough time to become familiar with whats around him) . Select our players and his Job is to coach , what Boxhill and Burrell have done is to bring in big name Coaches , and all have failed .
I remember when I wrote Creston Boxhill it was 6 or 8 months before Jamaica plays England and Ghana in Europe . I told him the pluses of bringing in a modest coach . He read the letter withouth prudence and bring in Bora Mulitinovic a big name coach . This time around jamaica have the players , facility , sponcors , International friendlies but one thing remain Burrell is yet to lern ! .

Lincoln I think David Penney of Oldham Athletic would be a good Manager for the reggaeboyz , If we can build a team around him and do what the french speaking africans do with french lower devision coaches , let them be apart of the National Program . We can forget Barnes , He had ambitions elsewhere , What do you think ? any feedbacks folks?.

I don't really want to get into this, but if you are using French-speaking African nations, you need to look deeper.
Bruno Metsu made a success of his time in charge of Senegal, but be careful in your assumptions. Henri Michel, who led the Ivory Coast to the last World Cup had been a national coach of France and a coach of clubs such as PSG before he got that job. Their current coach, Vahid Halilhodžić, has led Lille, Rennes and PSG. Roger Lemerre, who led Tunisia, had also been French national coach. Cameroon, who failed to qualify for the last Cup, is now led by former Lyon, Celtic and PSG coach, Paul Le Guen. Gabon is led by Alain Giresse, who after his illustrious playing career, managed Toulouse, PSG and so on. I could go on long and strong, but I won't. Yes, you are correct that there have been some good and successful examples, but there were also other factors that you are not talking about.

Guy Stephan(FRA) of Sinegal was a Modest Coach ... Robert Nouzaret (FRA) Ivory Coast was a Modest Coach ... ofcourse the africans have had big name coaches , they spent more money On there National Program ... But at times they had Modest coaches from france . We need to go that route now , tappa aint going to bring us to Brazil , we are tired of the big name coaches , we want someone who is Modest .

not to mention they are a better fit for african national team coaches because ligue 1 and 2 are overrun with african footballers of all ages and may as well be an african super league and african youth super league

Stephan was the top assistant to Roger Lemerre for France when they won the European Championships, and the Confed Cup. He took the Senegal job after that. And Nouzaret was a highly experienced coach before Ivory Coast. Stephan did not work out in Senegal, in spite of his experience, and they went to the highly experienced Henryk Kasperczak, who had also managed the Ivory Coast.
I agree that Tappa needs greater training and experience, but I highly doubt that he will be replaced by any foreign coach any time soon.
