To defend pressafoot, I don't think he was saying that Trinidad had more talent than us; instead, he was saying that their league is better organized, and that because of our lack of local player development it might benefit both the players and Jamaica if some were signed abroad when then they were younger. Trinidad has less than half our population, and you can half that again because the Indian population are more dedicated to playing cricket than football, so they need the imports in their league. If we could pay real money, other Caribbean players would be running here in droves, which is not necessarily a good thing.

The lack of money and opportunity in our local leagues is what leads to Simoes' and Tappa's complaints about the Bronx league problem.

It looks like Bigga has gotten through. One more Jamaican player in the Championship. Congrats to him!

Meanwhile, the Tykes have also confirmed O'Neil Thompson has had his work permit application granted.

"We have had some good news today as O'Neil has had his work permit application granted and everything has come through this morning," Simon Davey said.

"We are now pushing the paperwork through although we have to wait for international clearance again. Hopefully that will not take too long."

They've also upgraded without Jakans. Hhhmmm....

One deep seated reason i believe could be the class society. Football was(is?) considered a ghetto sport by uptowners who run the show.

Has to be approached as a 'new bran' industry.

Can you imagine if we could do at the World Cups like we have been doing at sprints??

Player development. Don't have to reinvent the wheel. Can't hurt to look at some successful programs for ideas inherent in our culture.

The better developed player will alway$ be a benefit for all.

To try catch up, i will keep recommending that some teams merge. I'd say about 5/6 clubs like HV and Portmore before we can start talking about a competitive league.

What other oprions are avaliable to strenghten our local teams?

We flop at the group stage at CONCACAF club. Suggests local teams not strongh enough.

Did upper management see that attempted airpile vs Canada?

Seriously though, as long lessons can be learnt from it....

I would advise that he doesn't try that s----t in the Championship. This level and culture is not 'JFF messes up things with no penalties to pay' football.

That type of unprofessional mistake can get players sold out of hand or have them playing reserve football for the rest of their time at a club.

Good luck to him, however it goes at the club.

This might not be good news for Bigga. Davey left by "mutual consent", which means that he was turfed. He had been under pressure, because of the team's struggles. Bigga was his signing, and all will depend on the new manager. But good luck to Bigga!

Things already looking not so good for Thompson, subbed after only 28 minutes yesterday (he wasn't hurt) and apparently the new manager isn't a big fan of his

You can here the manager's thoughts on Thompson 1:24 in
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_div_1/8244093.stm

If you keep listening he also mentions JCR getting hit in the eye and apparently the injury is somewhat severe, he can barely see out of it right. Hope he gets well soon.

I listened to the manager's speech. It's quite simple if you deliver what he wants you play if not you don't. The player's get time to show what they can do. Bigga was struggling. I don't know why. He has got to deal with that himself. It is what professionalism is all about.

Big up to Reggaeboy Cleveland Taylor for recommending Thompson to Burton Albion. Being in England is not enough, if you are not playing you are wasting away..........

Brewers secure Thompson on loan

Burton Albion have eased their defensive problems by signing Barnsley's Jamaican centre-half O'Neil Thompson on a month's loan.

Thompson: Joins Burton

The 26-year-old Jamaica international has been brought in as cover for the suspended Guy Branston and injured trio Aaron Webster, Richard Jackson and Darren Stride.

"I know a few people who know him from Jamaica and Barnsley and they speak very highly of him. He's got a good range of passing and he's a very solid defender," said boss Paul Peschisolido.

Very mixed reviews

Debutant centre-half O'Neil Thompson, especially, will not look back on the match with fondness after having an unfortunate role to play in all three Vale goals but, in truth, he was a little unlucky with two of them and looks like he could have a solid role to play with the Brewers.

Burton's manager on Bigga
 Quote:
He needs match practice, he hasn't played first team football for quite some time. He's a little bit rusty but he's going to be getting some games because we've got a lot of injuries and hopefully he'll get a little bit of match fitness and sharpen up a bit.

The news today is not encouraging. Thompson did not even make the squad. Furthermore, they are allowed to have 7 players on the bench and despite only having 5 fit players to fill the bench, Thompson still did not make the team.

Like I said before - sitting in England is not everything. If you are not playing game in game out, you may as well hang it up.
